Will Ferrell Sunscreen Sells 10,000th Bottle

Charitable sunscreen line provides sun protection, laughs and college scholarship money for cancer survivors

Will Ferrell Sunscreen, a humorous line of sunscreen products that benefits the non-profit charity Cancer for College, has sold it’s 10,000th bottle after only two months of sales.

Will Ferrell’s Sexy Hot Tan, Sun Stroke and Forbidden Fruit SPF 30 sunscreens were launched on Amazon and through charities web site www.cancerforcollege.org on May 19 (MSRP $11.99) with 100% of proceeds benefitting the scholarship fund.

The sunscreen became an instant sensation and has been prominently featured across all media including the The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, Access Hollywood and The Today Show. Various retailers including Newbury Comics, Fred Flair Online and Roger Dunn Golf Shops have since lent support and now offer the product. The sunscreen line is Ferrell’s first foray into fundraising products for a charity he has been involved in since his college days.

Cancer for College was formed in 1993 by two-time cancer survivor and double amputee, Craig Pollard. Pollard and Ferrell were fraternity brothers at the University of Southern California. Since its inception, Ferrell has been a devoted supporter of the charity and has served as the celebrity host of Cancer for College fundraising events since 2002.

“Cancer for College is such a pure charity,” said Will Ferrell. “The work that Craig and Cancer for College has done helping kids who have had cancer go to college is so noble. I’m proud to help them any way I can and if that means adding my face to a line of sunscreen products, I’m all for it.”

The launch of this product significantly expands the organization’s ability to help cancer survivors obtain a college education. The organization helps to fund everything from text books to four-year scholarships valued at $16K for kids who have battled cancer and dreamed of going to college, despite the financial hardships associated with their disease.

“We are so proud how the product has performed,” said Cancer for College Founder Craig Pollard. “The feedback from everyone has been so positive. Everyone gets the humor behind it. None of this would be possible without our friend Will Ferrell and his generosity.”
