Tasty Tidbits: Oceana Opens Today, August 17, Lunch Only

Oceana Restaurant, newly located at 1221 Avenue of the Americas and 49th Street, entrance on 49th Street, 212-759-5941, opens to the public today, August 17, 2009, beginning with lunch service only. Lunch is served 11am to 3pm Monday through Friday. The owners, John Livanos and family with managing partner, Paul McLaughlin, are waiting to receive the restaurant’s liquor license before adding dinner to its daily service. They are hoping to receive the license within a week, but until that time, offer a selection of very delicious and satisfying cocktails based on sparkling and fresh juices, artisanal Fever Tree mixers and fresh herbs and seasonings.



A brand new facility for this eighteen-year old top New York restaurant, it is truly a new day for Oceana. This dynamic seafood restaurant, featuring the food of critically acclaimed chef Ben Pollinger, along with pastry chef Jansen Chan, includes a raw bar and seafood display, a full-service bar, both for dining, main dining room and three private rooms, plus a Chef’s Table in the kitchen. The generous a la carte menu is all about variety, with its focus on fresh seafood, Chef Pollinger delights in presenting side dishes and adornments of seasonal, local produce and selections of naturally raised meats and poultry, too.



Oceana will be operating in soft opening mode through September 15th, offering a discount on food of 20%. Dinner will be added shortly, along with brunch. Outdoor dining will be added in 2010.
