Dinnertime High Tide is at The Shadmoor, says Peachy.
Endless summer?  Sign us up!
We are looking for great restaurants that are already a Peachy's Pick to make summer last forever: that means outdoor dining!  One of our newest Peachy's Picks, The Shadmoor, opened their outdoor dining on East 56th street and it is fantastic.  The Shadmoor is one of Manhattan's newest hot spots; it opened on April 26, 2017.

The Shadmoor was most recently featured earlier this year, when it became a Peachy's Pick:
It was first featured:
Jack suggested we commence our review with this lovely French Sauvignon Blanc, a welcome companion to Peachy's drug of choice: Tuna on Crack, still the only thing Mayor DiBlasio or anyone should be smoking.  Sushi grade tuna, avocado, cucumber sriracha, toasted sesame seeds, chive cilantro oil, and chipotle aioli team up for a winner of flavors topped off by homemade corn chips, which look like upright bunny ears to us (distinctly a positive: Peachy Rabbits.)  Last time remember it looked like a lop ear to us and the first time it was more of a crescent moon.  It is still wildly popular and delicious.  You will indulge in its glories as quick as a bunny.

Especially because it is a seafood restaurant, The Shadmoor exhibits authentic summer touches:

Actually, we do suggest you drown in dinner!
Next in the batting order (GO RED SOX!) was a special appetizer when we visited: Lobster Ravioli.  Three of them are arranged beautifully and are made on premises daily.

Finished with a gorgeous tomato brandy basil sauce, the lobster ravioli are competitive with the Italian versions we've had.  Another nice touch is the shaved parmesean and sauteed shaved asparagus which are worthy teammates in scoring edible home runs into your stomach.  The scent and smell is additionally terrific, and we believe this should be a proper entree with a lot more than just three.  This is a total tease, yet a delicious one.

We are huge advocates of salad, and though we eat it year round and hopefully you do too, it is super summery and a natural for outdoor dining.  The Shadmoor menu boasts seven salads plus they might have a special when you visit; we applaud the selection.  Highly consistent and phenomenally fresh, both the Pear and King Shrimp Salad, above, and the Organic Field Greens Salad, below, are choices that should be included with your Shadmoor dining experience.  Above: crispy romaine hearts, radishes, goat cheese, orange segments and balsamic enhance the majestically seared shrimp, which are divine to discover.  Below, if you are a purist and want a straight green salad, this is exactly what the doctor ordered.  The timeless classic is a symphony of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, onions, evoo and mustard vinaigrette.  They put the dressing on the side for Ms. Pretty Picky as requested.

There are no vegans here.
Only DEEGANs.  The New York Steak of the Shadmoor will warm you up after a long day in its masterful presentation on a board.  14 oz aged Angus strip (still Halal meat) is juicy and sensational, particularly when paired with perfectly crisp homemade truffle fries and further enhanced with caramelized onions and rosemary lemon oil.  A convincing French red accompanied this, and you should know The Shadmoor from their coffee to their wine list has amazing choices.

A solid seafood selection is the Swordfish, often local from Montauk but sometimes from the Pacific, depending on the day.  The Shadmoor gets seafood deliveries every day, which is one of their secrets to success.  Center cut grilled swordfish is going to hit the spot, and the steak of the sea parties al fresco with roasted lemon potato.

Drumroll please.  We saved the best for last and the best edible we had this visit was without a doubt the Dover Sole, caught in Holland after swimming across the English Channel.  The phenomenal quality and equally impressive filet and artful twist presentation is simply smashing, and you will delight in the ecstasy of every fine bite.  Capers are dotted aside.  This is one of the best Dover Soles we have had anywhere in 2018.

Definitely save room for Irish Coffee (Baileys, Americano Espresso, Agave Nectar, Spanish Caramel, Steamed Whole Milk, and Tullamore Dew (from OFFALY!!!)) and chocolate lava cake which we understand is 98% chocolate (Valora) and even has Boston College colors of raspberry and peach drizzle.  You know we are having a great season!
