As avid readers know, Peachy Deegan loves Dancing with the Stars and once took Ballroom Dancing as a sport at Miss Porter's, one of her Alma Maters.  One of the best and most underrated performers on this show is Bobby Bones, and we know him from his fabulous performances under the both intelligent and fun tutelage of Sharna Burgess.

We were so impressed with their dancing, we decided to read his new book, which we believe is his second.  We must go back now and read his first.

Fail Until You Don't is a tried and true method for success, and literally tells you just how Bobby reached the pinnacle of his career which is totally exploding right now as last night he made the finals of Dancing with the Stars, and we believe he is also starring on American Idol in the next season.  For everyone that also agrees overnight success takes decades, this book is for you.  FIGHT.  GRIND. REPEAT.  That's both the mission statement and the procedure of this work.  It is terribly well-organized which we loved.  Better yet, it is AUTHENTIC.  And even better than that, it is HUMBLE.  Check out over thirty pages in the back of the book where he expresses gratitude for people by name.  We don't think we've ever seen such a comprehensive list of gratefulness from anyone ever.

It is for the people that are trying to overcome a challenge, and those that want to be better, period.  Anyone can always be better. It is for everyone with ambition and a brain, and the desire to win. We think this is you, as we attract this kind of reader! And doesn't everyone love Shirley Temples and shoes?

Fail Until You Don't is about facing your fears, and the culmination of microdecisions.  Central to Bobby's philosophy is "Winning by Losing" as trial and error, provided you analyze why something doesn't work, is incredibly successful.  Bobby Bones's acquisition of emotional intelligence has reached an expert level that even if you think you are the best at what you do, you can benefit from.

This book is insightful and fabulously honest.  "You can always tell when you don't do a good job, because no one wants to talk to you afterward." (p. 29)

We are pretty sure he penned this before his DWTS appearances, however, his words resonate to this experience we believe!  Sharna, it sounds like he is talking to you: "...I like to be challenged.  Whether it's performing onstage, interviewing famous musicians, or exercising, I actually enjoy the uncomfortable feeling when something is unfamiliar and hard enough to make me consider quitting." (p. 41) Oh good, Bobby when you come to New York, Peachy will teach you how to ice skate if you don't know yet. We also eat dinner at 4pm so we have the undivided attention of the owner!

We like how he "resists the negative needle" (p.98) which is central to our philosophy as we never publish negative reviews.    We love how he preaches the gospel of being on time always.

Bobby, we must disagree with you on page 23 where you say nobody likes a capella.  Peachy was a Perilhette...and you did have one english error on page 26 where you should have parallel structure and say but ALSO mostly empathized...and yes Peachy is available to be a proofreader for book number three.  We do commend him on his commitment to using the word literally properly, and we quite concur. (p. 111)

Finally, we think Bobby needs way more sleep to preserve his health so he can continue being Bobby at such a high level!  This book you need for yourself, and it also makes a superlative gift as the holidays are coming.  The fine art of sucking it up has never been perfected so finely.

Fail Until You Don't is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.

Dey Street Books is proud to publish FAIL UNTIL YOU DON’T: FIGHT. GRIND. REPEAT. by Bobby Bones (Dey Street Hardcover), the follow-up to his #1 New York Times best-selling memoir, Bare Bones: I’m Not Lonely If You’re Reading this Book (2016).

Bobby Bones has reached the peak of his profession. Dubbed "the most powerful man in country music" (Forbes), nearly four million fans tune in to “The Bobby Bones Show” (nationally syndicated to 100+ stations) each week. His marquee weekday morning radio show has garnered its third ACM Award and a 2017 Country Music Association award for National Broadcast Personality of the Year. He is the youngest inductee ever into the National Radio Hall of Fame, alongside legends Dick Clark, Larry King, and Howard Stern. He is one half of the successful comedy band “The Raging Idiots,” and he helped discover new musical talent by lending his expertise on the latest
season of American Idol. But as Bobby reveals, a lot of what made him able to achieve his goals were mistakes, awkward moments, and embarrassing situations—lemons that he turned into lemonade through hard work and humility.

FAIL UNTIL YOU DON’T is an inspirational and humorous collection of stories about Bobby’s biggest misses in life and how he turned them into lessons and wins. In it, he shares ideas and motivations for finding success even when seemingly surrounded by impossible odds or tough failures. The book also features anecdotes from some of his celebrity friends and music legends including Brooklyn Decker, Charlamagne Tha God, Andy Roddick, Chris Stapleton, and more, who open up about their own missteps.

Bobby’s mantra is: Fight. Grind. Repeat. A man who refuses to give up, he sees failure as something to learn from--and the recollections in this funny, smart book, full of Bobby’s brand of self-effacing humor, show he’s become such a beloved goofball. “I want people to see that other people are failing too,” Bones said. "Instagram isn’t real life. I wrote this book so people could see they weren’t alone. I wrote this book to give people the tools to use failure to their advantage.”

Bobby Bones hosts The Bobby Bones Show, a morning country music radio program that is in national syndication with Premiere Networks (owned by iHeartMedia). Nationally, The Bobby Bones Show is the biggest country music morning show in the country, with an estimated audience of nearly 4 million weekly listeners. He is the author of the #1 New York Times Bestseller Bare Bones. He has also appeared in films and on the hit television series Nashville. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
