April Vacation Activities at the New England Air Museum

Each Day from April 18 - April 22

STORIES UNDER A WING from 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Museum educators lead young aviators on a literary journey with stories about famous aviators, trips to space, and creatures that have their own wings. For ages 3 - 8 and their caregivers.COCKPIT TOURS Noon - 4:00 p.m. Join us for a unique opportunity to gain a pilot's eye perspective of some of our aircraft. Each day one aircraft is opened to allow visitors a special chance to sit inside and explore the controls and flight instruments. CHALLENGE ACTIVITIES Noon - 3:00 p.m. Each day our Museum educators feature hands-on activities for families. Build parachutes, design and test paper airplanes, launch rockets and more. LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS - Explore the basic scientific principles of air and spaceflight through our Science of Flight Demonstrations. See what makes a balloon "float", explore the Bernoulli principle, subject a Space Shuttle tile to intense heat, test your strength against air pressure and more. These 10 - 20 minute live demonstrations are offered each hour between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. MUSEUM ORIENTATION TOURS 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Museum will offer a series of orientation tours suitable for adults and children. Tour will include an overview of our 3 display hangars, our unique collection & exhibits and Connecticut's role in aviation. AMA MODELING WORKSHOP to be held on Thursday, April 21 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Build and learn to fly an AMA Club flying balsa and tissue paper model with experts in the field of modeling. Young people ten years old and older can carry out this activity on their own under the coaching of professionals. Children under ten years of age need the assistance of an adult. The activity takes about and hour and a half to complete. Spots for this workshop are filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Spots will be filled as they become available between 10:00 and 1:00 on a rolling basis. Adults pay regular admission; children pay $10 which includes admission to the Museum and the cost of the model.
