#InauguralReview #Fricoon2nd by #JamieCulliton and #TonyFlugel #Detroit #Pizza

Say Yes Please to the Garlic Knots which are Very Good
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and one day we walked by Frico on 2nd when it was being built and met owner Jamie Culliton, so we were quite curious to see how it evolved.  Frico on 2nd opened May 5, 2025.  If you are looking to expand your pizza vocabulary to include Detroit Style, that is what they specialize in and they define it for you in the above picture.  When we arrived, we discovered he has a co-owner, Tony Flugel who helped us.
As a standard, we ordered the New York Style Plain Ole Cheese (this is how it is spelled on the menu) and it's 18 inches, finished with fresh basil.  It might have been the lightest pizza we have ever tried in our history; the cheese was truly understated.  If on a hot day like today you want to eat something extremely light, this is a good option.
These are two Detroit Style Whole Pies of eight slices.
Above, we liked the presentation of the Bianco: fresh and shredded mozzarella, whole roasted garlic-our favorite ingredient-, fresh basil and beautifully finished with Piped Ricotta, totally fresh.
Peachy always orders vegetables on pizza.  Garden Pesto boasts fresh spinach, cherry tomatoes, artichokes and Basil Pesto.
The salads were simple and fresh: there are two petite options.  The House Salad has spring mix, red onion, cucumber, tomatoes and kalamata olives while the Caesar has little gem lettuce, croutons, shredded Parmesan and Frico.  We were happy to get the dressing on the side as is customary for us.  They make the salads each morning, and there are no protein options to add to the salads.
We adored the Garlic Knots and for Peachy, they were the star of the show.
We look forward to seeing what they do next!
