Whiten Up Your Teeth- Brighten Up Your Life!

It is common knowledge in Manhattan that if you want a little sparkle, especially if you have the "mean reds," you head straight for 5th and 57th and the little blue box. However, recently here at Whom You Know, Peachy Deegan paid Dr. Garo Nazarian a visit to get a different kind of sparkle, and once you have it, you don't need to take it out of a box. It is always with you-your smile-a permanent investment in your style and the whiter, the better! We highly recommend the brightening experience at Cosmopolitan Dental and to allow you to understand the process, Peachy is going to tell you exactly what happened to her to achieve the whitest and brightest smile in Manhattan. (She has been going to Garo for years - so this was a matter of making an A smile an A+, however, the process can give radical improvements if needed.)

Garo's office is always pleasant to walk into with the fish tank that is like an ocean, the big screen TV, and Helen who consistently pleasantly greets patients upon their arrival. Pre-appointment planning is necessary: You must be in the mood to take a bit of a nap while you are being brightened and Peachy Deegan highly recommends bringing an ipod as well. A book is not a good idea as you cannot move during this process. You should be warned that your mouth will be stretched out a bit and you may be minimally sore, but you know it hurts a little to be beautiful! This minimal discomfort is more than well-worth the result.

The process varies from patient to patient depending on how white or stained your teeth originally are.

To begin with, after rinsing with mouthwash, Dr. Nazarian will match your teeth to one of twentysomething samples to determine the current color of your teeth, which in turn determines the proper bleach to use to get your teeth to the proper ultimate whiteness. This is a science, and this aspect of the process is just one example of why going to a professional makes all the difference. If you buy over-the-counter whitestrips, which Peachy Deegan has tried in the past, there is no comparison in the process or the result, more importantly. Using whitestrips is like taking a shower with a cottonball. Going to Cosmopolitan Dental to get your teeth whitened is like going to a spa for a shower getting every treatment available done.

Your mouth will be opened with a mouth opener so your teeth are quite visible and accessible for the procedure, and a bit of cotton will be packed into your cheeks. Dr. Nazarian will put a rubber dam isolation to protect the tissue from the peroxide. Every safety precaution is taken to protect your dental health. Then Dr. Nazarian will shine a blue light on your teeth after painting on the bleach.

Next is naptime. If you highlight your hair, this is kind of like when you sit under the dryer with the aluminum foil on for that. For three 15-minute intervals, you will sit uner the Zoom! blue light. Peachy thinks this is the perfect ipod-listening nap time and imagined herself on the beach with her fabulous new whiter-than-white smile against her tan, especially since she was wearing the cool orange safety glasses!

After a rinse off, it was time for "Mirror Mirror on the Wall, who has the Whitest Smile of them all?" and it is Peachy Deegan of course! Thank you Garo. We know you all want it done now too-contact Cosmopolitan Dental for this and all of your dental needs. Of course, after the procedure you cannot come in contact with dark staining substances such as red wine, cofee, cola, etc. Peachy plans on using a straw for all of these things in the future!

We hope your weekend was just as bright!
