#FloridaPeachy @FIU Florida International University researchers reveal how altered images can bypass AI safeguards

It may look like a picture of a panda bear to you, but to your business's AI agent, it can act like a skeleton key, bypassing safety safeguards and potentially causing the model to generate harmful, misleading or policy-violating outputs.

That risk is the focus of new research from Hadi Amini, associate professor at Florida International University's Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences. Together with graduate assistant Md Jueal Mia, he is studying how manipulated images can "jailbreak" certain AI systems, pushing them beyond their built-in safeguards.

"AI models don't see images the same way humans do," Amini said. "They see patterns of numbers and pixels. By carefully manipulating those pixels, we can influence how the AI interprets the image and responds."

The team's research demonstrated how small-language AI models – the kind frequently employed by small businesses to execute routine tasks like accounting or customer service – have become particularly susceptible to image-based hacks. As shown in research presented at the 2025 International Conference on Machine Learning and Applications (ICMLA), the team found that by introducing microscopic pixel-level changes called "perturbations" into an image, they could trick these AI systems into generating responses that they would normally block.

"The manipulated image is like the face of a stranger," Amini said. "The AI has to learn when a request should be treated with caution before it answers. In order to protect AI systems from attacks, we try to break them ourselves, identify potential vulnerabilities and design defense mechanisms."

The researchers then set out to probe the system's defenses. The more successfully they penetrated the models' guardrails, the more the systems could be trained to resist future threats. To do this, Amini and his team developed a method called JaiLIP (Jailbreaking with Loss-guided Image Perturbation), which uses an algorithm to determine the optimal degree of pixel-level manipulation.

In tests using BLIP-2, a multimodal AI model used by researchers and developers, Amini and his team found that images modified with JaiLIP significantly increased the likelihood that the system would generate harmful or unsafe responses. In one example, a JaiLIP-altered version of a stoplight tricked the AI model into divulging detailed instructions on how to run the light while avoiding a traffic ticket. Overall, the use of JaiLIP images nearly doubled the number of harmful responses generated by AI models.

The risk extends beyond users simply prompting AI systems for instructions on illegal activity. As businesses increasingly adopt AI-powered customer service agents, chatbots and automated workflows, vulnerabilities in open-source or lightly protected systems could negatively impact users' trust or create new avenues for cyberattacks.

"Small businesses and companies can benefit from AI to enhance their efficiency, but they have to be aware of the potential vulnerabilities," Amini said. "They must make sure they're deploying sufficient guardrails to maintain the safety and integrity of their AI tools."

Amini said there are some basic precautions that everyone should use before integrating AI into their business or workplace, including limiting the sensitive information they provide to AI systems (especially images), restricting who can access those systems and carefully evaluating the security measures built into AI tools before deployment.

Because safety is paramount, Amini and his team are working to stay one step ahead of potential bad actors in the AI sphere. The more vulnerabilities he and his team can find, the quicker the AI will learn to repair them. The challenge, he said, is ensuring that AI can recognize threats hidden in plain sight — even when humans cannot.

#FloridaPeachy #PilotPeachy US Aviation Academy Makes Major Florida Move: New Fort Pierce Flight Campus and Kissimmee Maintenance School Open Simultaneously

Twin openings signal a defining chapter in the Academy's nationwide expansion — combining EASA ATO-approved pilot training, a Part 147-certified aviation maintenance program, and a direct-to-airline employment pathway under one growing national brand

US Aviation Academy announced the simultaneous opening of two new Florida facilities: a flight training campus in Fort Pierce and an FAA Part 147-approved Aviation Maintenance Technician School (AMTS) at Kissimmee Gateway Airport (KISM). Together, these openings mark the most significant single-day expansion in the Academy's history and cement Florida as the next major step in its growing nationwide footprint.

Fort Pierce Location (PRNewsfoto/US Aviation Academy)

The Fort Pierce campus is located at a facility previously occupied by Aviator College. US Aviation Academy is leasing facilities recently vacated by Aviator College. This ready-made campus will receive new leadership, new standards, and a full US Aviation Academy experience from the first day of classes. This is an entirely new and independent operation — new leadership, new standards, and a full US Aviation Academy experience from the first day of classes.

"Opening two facilities in Florida at the same time is a statement about where this Academy is headed," said Mike Sykes, CEO, US Aviation Academy. "We're not just training pilots anymore — we're building a fully integrated aviation education platform with the infrastructure, the approvals, and the airline relationships to take students from day one of training all the way to a career in the cockpit or the hangar."

Fort Pierce Flight Campus: A Fresh Start with a Global Reach

The Fort Pierce campus is one of the largest flight training facilities in Florida, with significant capacity for fleet expansion, additional flight simulators, classroom and administrative space, and student housing. The Academy has extensive room to grow enrollment and infrastructure at this location for years to come.

Fort Pierce, Florida, is a strategic advantage. With Orlando, Palm Beach, Lakeland, and Tampa all within reach, students train in some of the most active and diverse airspace in the United States — building real-world experience across varied weather, traffic patterns, and controlled airspace environments that prepare them for careers at any airline, anywhere in the world.

The campus will launch under FAA Part 61 operations, allowing students to begin training immediately under the same proven instruction standards the Academy applies across all of its locations. FAA Part 141 certification for the Fort Pierce campus is actively in process, and the Academy anticipates that approval in the near term. Part 141 certification will unlock additional structured curriculum benefits and expand eligibility for certain student visa programs, further broadening the campus's reach.

The campus operates as part of US Aviation Academy's EASA-approved Approved Training Organization (ATO), extending the Academy's international reach and enabling training for students from Europe and beyond under globally recognized standards. This approval allows the Academy to recruit and train a carefully balanced mix of domestic and international students — a structure that directly supports its ability to offer employment opportunities to most graduates who hold the legal right to work in the United States. By aligning enrollment with actual airline hiring demand, the Academy delivers on a promise most flight schools cannot make: a genuine, structured pathway to a job.

Kissimmee Gateway: New Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School

Simultaneously, US Aviation Academy is opening an FAA Part 147-approved Aviation Maintenance Technician School at Kissimmee Gateway Airport (KISM), just southwest of Orlando. The program will train students for FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification — one of the most in-demand credentials in the aviation industry as airlines and MRO operators face a deepening shortage of qualified maintenance technicians alongside the well-documented pilot shortage.

The Kissimmee location places the maintenance school at the heart of Central Florida's aviation corridor, with proximity to major carriers, aviation maintenance providers, and the broader aerospace industry concentrated around the Orlando metropolitan area. The campus benefits from the same favorable flying weather and active aviation environment that makes Central Florida one of the premier locations in the country for aviation training of all kinds.

Together, the Fort Pierce flight campus and the Kissimmee maintenance school position US Aviation Academy as one of the only training organizations in the country capable of producing both commercial pilots and licensed maintenance technicians under the same brand, the same quality standards, and the same commitment to graduate employment.

"The demand for A&P mechanics is just as urgent as the demand for pilots," said Scott Sykes, CDO, US Aviation Academy. "Kissimmee puts us at the center of Florida's aviation industry with a Part 147-approved program that will train the next generation of technicians who keep commercial aircraft flying safely."

Building a Nationwide Aviation Academy

US Aviation Academy has spent years methodically building one of the most geographically diverse flight training networks in the country. The Academy currently operates locations across Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Georgia, and New York — a coast-to-coast presence that reflects both the depth of demand for quality pilot training and the Academy's commitment to making that training accessible across the United States.

Florida is the next chapter in that expansion. The simultaneous opening of the Fort Pierce flight campus and the Kissimmee maintenance school represents the Academy's largest and most strategically significant move yet — adding not just new geography, but new capabilities, new approvals, and a fully integrated maintenance training program to the network.

With locations now spanning from New York to Florida to Texas and beyond, US Aviation Academy is building the infrastructure to train pilots and technicians at a national scale — while giving airline and industry partners a broader, more reliable pipeline of career-ready graduates than any single-location school can offer.

Additional locations remain under evaluation as the Academy continues its expansion. The long-term vision is clear: to become the defining name in professional aviation education across the United States — for pilots, for maintenance technicians, and for the airlines and operators who depend on both.

Prospective students interested in either the Fort Pierce flight program or the Kissimmee maintenance school are encouraged to contact the Academy's admissions team for complete details on programs, enrollment timelines, costs, and career outcomes.

About US Aviation Academy

US Aviation Academy is a leading FAA-approved Part 141 and Part 61 flight training institution and EASA-approved Approved Training Organization (ATO) headquartered in Denton, Texas. With locations across Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Georgia, New York, and now Florida, the Academy operates one of the most extensive flight training networks in the United States. The Academy also operates FAA Part 147-approved Aviation Maintenance Technician Schools, offering a fully integrated pathway to careers in both commercial aviation and aircraft maintenance. With a large modern fleet and a comprehensive curriculum from private pilot certification through ATP training, the Academy has placed thousands of graduates with regional and major airlines worldwide. #FloridaPeachy @DAYTONA #CruisingPeachy Daytona International Speedway to Install State-of-the-Art Musco LED Lighting System, Setting New Global Standard for Motorsports Venues

The World Center of Racing will be the largest sports facility in the world and first major motorsports facility in North America with Musco’s LED lighting system

-Daytona International Speedway today announced a transformative, venue-wide LED lighting project that will introduce the next generation of lighting technology to the “World Center of Racing,” marking the next step in how motorsports are experienced by fans, competitors and viewers around the world.

In collaboration with Musco, Daytona International Speedway will install LED lighting across all existing oval track high mast pole-mounted fixtures, the road course, infield, pit box and emergency lighting systems. The project will also feature LED RGB accent lighting on track light poles synchronized with the caution light system, as well as uplighting for the upper-level underside of grandstand seating—creating dynamic, visually engaging moments throughout race events.

“The new LED lighting system at Daytona International Speedway underscores NASCAR’s continued commitment to reinvest in its facilities, enhancing the overall experience for fans attending events at Daytona as well as those watching around the world,” said Ben Kennedy, Chief Operating Officer, NASCAR. “The project will create new, visually compelling moments that drive fan engagement, elevate partner visibility and generate excitement across the sport.”

This comprehensive upgrade represents more than a modernization—it is a generational leap that reinforces Daytona International Speedway’s legacy of innovation while positioning the iconic venue to lead motorsports into its next chapter.

“Daytona International Speedway has long set the standard for motorsports venues, and this project ensures we continue to do so for the next generation of race fans,” said Frank Kelleher, President, Daytona International Speedway. “From enhanced visibility for drivers to a more immersive atmosphere for fans in the stands and watching at home, we are proud to partner with Musco for this new LED lighting system that will transform the racing experience.”

The new Musco LED lighting system will deliver brighter, more consistent illumination across the facility, significantly improving visibility for competitors and race teams, enhancing the in-person fan experience, and elevating broadcast quality for global audiences. Additionally, the new lights are expected to reduce energy consumption by approximately 50 percent, supporting NASCAR Impact’s broader goal of achieving net zero operating emissions by 2035.

“We’re excited to partner with NASCAR to relight the iconic Daytona International Speedway,” said Musco CEO Jeff Rogers. “We installed the original system in 1998 and appreciate our long-standing relationship to deliver exciting new LED solutions for drivers, television, and fans.”

The project officially began in April and is expected to be completed in Jan. 2027.

Daytona International Speedway Continues Legacy of Innovation

Since breaking ground in Nov. 1957 and opening with the inaugural DAYTONA 500 in Feb. 1959, Daytona International Speedway has been synonymous with NASCAR’s most defining moments. The track once again raised the bar in 1998 when it installed lights, becoming the largest lighted outdoor sports facility in North America at the time, with the Coke Zero Sugar 400 serving as its first night race.

From 2013 to 2016, the $400 million “Daytona Rising” redevelopment reimagined the facility as a world-class motorsports stadium. The new LED lighting project continues that tradition of reinvestment, ensuring the venue remains at the forefront of innovation for generations of fans.

Industry-Leading Technology with Musco

Through its partnership with Musco, a global leader in sports lighting for 50 years, Daytona International Speedway will become the largest sports facility in the world to feature Musco’s state-of-the-art LED lighting system—and the first major motorsports facility in North America to do so.

Musco’s lighting solutions, known for innovations in glare reduction and precise light control, are utilized across a wide range of venues, from local fields to premier global sporting events, including NFL and MLB stadiums, NBA and NHL arenas, collegiate facilities, and the Olympic Games.

The addition of RGB lighting—capable of producing more than 16.7 million color combinations—will allow for synchronized lighting effects tied to race action and cautions, creating new opportunities for fan engagement, partner integration and broadcast storytelling.

Upcoming Race Events

NASCAR returns to the World Center of Racing for intense action as the NASCAR Cup Series closes out the regular season during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Saturday, Aug. 29. The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will compete in the Wawa 250 Powered by Coca-Cola on Aug. 28.

The 65th running of the Rolex 24 will take place Jan. 28-31, 2027, preceded by the Roar Before the Rolex 24 on Jan. 22-24, 2027.

The 69th running of the DAYTONA 500 is scheduled for Feb. 21, 2027.

Tickets for all Daytona International Speedway events are available at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com or by calling 1-800-PITSHOP. Fans can also follow @DAYTONA on social media for the latest updates.

#PilotPeachy #FloridaPeachy #JetBlue Steps in to Help Stranded Spirit Customers with $99 Rescue Fares, Announces Plans to Add 11 Destinations From Fort Lauderdale

Plan reflects JetBlue’s long-term commitment to South Florida and ensures continued connectivity for customers

JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU) today announced it is stepping in to support Spirit customers and team members affected by the airline’s shutdown.JetBlue is offering $99 rescue fares to assist stranded travelers with immediate travel planned
JetBlue will cap fares to ensure affordable rebooking options remain available as more travelers look to rebook and demand increases.
JetBlue will significantly expand its presence at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) with 11 new cities to help backfill critical service and allow customers to continue to see a strong selection of flights and destinations.
JetBlue will extend its jumpseat agreement for Spirit pilots and flight attendants trying to get home and offer interview opportunities for open roles at JetBlue.

“This is really tough news for the thousands of Spirit team members affected, as well as the customers who were planning trips on Spirit,” said Joanna Geraghty, chief executive officer, JetBlue. “We got to know many of their crewmembers during our acquisition talks, and we’re thinking about everyone whose lives are being disrupted. We want to help fill the void created by this loss.”

$99 Rescue Fares to Help Stranded Travelers Get Home

To assist stranded Spirit customers with imminent travel, JetBlue is offering $99 one-way fares to individuals with proof of a valid Spirit itinerary for the same route (or co-located airport) for travel through Wednesday, May 6¹. These customers should call 1-800-JETBLUE to discuss their situation.

“With major operations in Fort Lauderdale and San Juan, we’re in a unique position to help Spirit customers get where they need to go and ensure flights remain affordable despite greater demand,” said Geraghty. “We understand how unsettling it may be for travelers who are suddenly unsure of what to do next.”

Beginning May 1, 2026, JetBlue will also cap all Blue Basic fares at $299 on JetBlue-operated nonstop routes to and from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and San Juan, Puerto Rico’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) that were also operated by Spirit as of April.¹ The fare caps will apply to new itinerary purchases made through May 8, 2026, for travel between May 2, 2026 and May 8, 2026.

“While JetBlue always offers a great experience at an everyday low fare, the fare cap is designed to help customers avoid higher last-minute prices as more people book alternative travel.”

Fort Lauderdale and San Juan are both JetBlue focus cities, and JetBlue is the largest airline in both cities, offering an extensive route network. These two cities have also been among Spirit’s busiest markets, meaning travelers there may experience significant disruption from the sudden loss of service. JetBlue is stepping in where the need is greatest and where the airline has the scale and reach to provide meaningful support.

JetBlue will continue to monitor demand and operational capacity and may adjust based on customer needs.

Taking Care of Spirit Team Members

JetBlue also recognizes that some Spirit pilots and flight attendants may be stranded following the airline’s shutdown. To support crewmembers during this challenging time, JetBlue will extend its jumpseat agreement for the next two weeks, subject to space availability and limited to cabin seating. In addition, the airline plans to offer interview opportunities to qualified Spirit team members impacted by the shutdown.

Stepping Up Service in Fort Lauderdale

In addition to capping fares, JetBlue is adding new service to further expand options for customers in Fort Lauderdale. The additional flying builds on JetBlue’s role as Fort Lauderdale’s largest airline and reflects the carrier’s commitment to providing its award-winning service and competitive fares for South Florida travelers during a period of meaningful change in the market.

With this expansion, JetBlue is offering its largest ever schedule from Fort Lauderdale, ensuring customers continue to have access to the destinations they rely on, whether traveling for leisure, business, or visiting friends and family.

JetBlue expects to operate nearly 130 daily departures from Fort Lauderdale this summer, marking the largest operation in the airline’s history from the airport - over 75% more daily flights than 2025.

“South Florida is a key market for JetBlue, and we recognize this is a challenging moment for many travelers,” said Geraghty. “Our focus is on stepping up in the near term by adding service, maintaining connectivity, and keeping fares competitive, so customers can continue to travel with confidence.”

Fort Lauderdale was JetBlue’s first destination, and today the airline already offers an extensive domestic and international network from FLL, serving destinations across the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean. The addition of 27 flights represents a meaningful increase in flying that leverages JetBlue’s existing scale, crews, and infrastructure in South Florida.

The growth reflects JetBlue’s broader network strategy and its ability to responsibly add flying where demand exists and where the airline can operate reliably. The expanded schedule also supports JetBlue’s JetForward strategy, which centers on building the best East Coast leisure network with Fort Lauderdale as a key gateway.

Capped fares are available starting May 1, 2026. The new routes and frequencies announced today will be available to book starting Monday evening, May 4, 2026, at jetblue.com and the JetBlue mobile app.

#RockYourBody #FloridaPeachy Gray & Sons Reviews Certified Pre-Owned Rolex Price Trends Over the Past 12 Months

New analysis reveals stabilizing prices, sustained demand for iconic models, and growing investor confidence in the pre-owned luxury watch market

Gray & Sons Jewelers, a leading independent retailer of certified pre-owned luxury watches and fine jewelry, has released a comprehensive review of certified pre-owned Rolex price trends over the past 12 months, offering valuable insights into market performance, collector demand, and the growing role of pre-owned Rolex watches as long-term investment assets.

Over the past year, the market for pre-owned Rolex timepieces has demonstrated notable resilience. Following periods of heightened volatility in prior years, pricing across many popular models has shown signs of stabilization, with more consistent valuation patterns emerging across key collections. This shift reflects a maturing secondary market, where informed buyers and sellers are navigating pricing with greater confidence.

Certain models, including the Rolex Submariner, Daytona, and Datejust, have continued to attract strong interest among collectors and first-time buyers alike. Viktoria Peshkur, a Gray & Sons specialist with over a decade of experience, notes the consistent demand for iconic sport models: “I would say the Rolex Submariner is always in demand, especially 16610 and 16613. It's a best seller and, in my opinion, an amazing gift.”

While some references experienced modest corrections, others maintained steady value or showed gradual appreciation, particularly those with limited availability or strong historical demand. Gray & Sons’ internal data indicates that condition and certification continue to play a significant role in determining resale value. “Sports models sell faster than regular dress watches,” Peshkur added, highlighting a continued preference among buyers for versatile, everyday luxury pieces.

The analysis also underscores the enduring strength of certain flagship models. “The Daytona holds its value the best,” adds Peshkur, pointing to its reputation as one of the most investment-resilient watches in the Rolex lineup.

The report further highlights a broader trend toward long-term ownership and investment-minded purchasing. As economic conditions evolve, many buyers are turning to tangible assets such as luxury watches, with pre-owned Rolex models offering both wearability and enduring value. Certified pre-owned timepieces, in particular, provide an added layer of trust and transparency that is increasingly important in today’s market.

Gray & Sons Jewelers emphasizes that the certified pre-owned segment remains one of the most accessible entry points into the luxury watch market. With a wide selection of authenticated timepieces, buyers are able to acquire iconic Rolex models at competitive prices while benefiting from expert servicing and warranty support.

As the secondary luxury watch market continues to evolve, Gray & Sons remains committed to providing clients with accurate market insights, high-quality inventory, and trusted expertise built over decades in the industry.
