#InauguralReview #Pamina #Gelato #Dolce #Italian Since 2023 by #EmanueleNigro #RiccardoOrfino and #WaelDeek #461SixthAvenue #Manhattan

Founder and Owner of Pamina, Emanuele Nigro
They might put the Dolce before the Gelato in their name, but here at Whom You Know, not much is more important than ice cream and gelato.  There are a lot of venues that serve these in Manhattan, but few are featured because they don't demonstrate the level of excellence that Emanuele Nigro does with the ultimate in freshness right down the the pistachio gelato that he made in front of us and we tried!
Videos and pictures speak louder than words:
It was fabulously exciting to see all of their kitchen space during this third visit and we are glad and not surprised to tell you it is spotless and filled with quality, fresh ingredients.
This is the One More Hospitality Group hat trick.
They previously were lauded for inaugural reviews of Osteria 57 and Alice.
So far, so excellent and they MAY have even MORE tricks up their sleeve...
Pamina is a cute spot just around the corner from where we just visited them at Alice, and it opened on August 10, 2023 which is the night of the shooting stars in Italy.  Pamina, as you learned from the video, is the daughter of the Queen of the Night in the Magic Flute.  Emanuele tells us it's the story of free will and being unconventional, following an instinct.  That should sound familiar to you if you have read the previous 30,000 articles!  Philosophically we are aligned with Emanuele and team.
The gelato itself is phenomenal and the best we have had anywhere this season.  In addition to the spectacular pistachio, we tried the vanilla custard cream which sets itself apart from mundane vanillas elsewhere by adding one drop of Jasmine per 100 servings of gelato. You can taste this slight accentuation which distinguishes without overwhelming the gelato.  Of course if you have read us before aside from apple pie a la mode, the correct answer to dessert absolutely must be chocolate for Peachy and Emanuele is reading: the chocolate gelato was the best and if she never had to fit in her clothes again the only thing Peachy would be doing in this record breaking heat is eating the Chocolate Gelato from Pamina ALL DAY without her computer or camera or pen or keyboard.  This is what you should be doing now: eating this gelato.
We had a tiny taste of the sorbets however not enough to really comment on them, so stay tuned.
If for some insane reason you don't like Gelato, or if you are reading this in January, note the Panna Cotta comes with strawberries, and it's separated by a plastic layer!  This is a small example of a big detail that these guys get right.  Obviously this makes it freshest when you personally choose to combine them.  They are detail people too and we love it.  If we are going to eat a muffin it's got to be chocolate and this one is 70 percent dark Valrhona and the chocolate grade which tells you the quality of chocolate is Guanaja.

Pamina impressed us on our first visit and you should be sprinting there in this heat!!!
We can't wait to see what they do next.

When was the last time you had a really great eclair?
Peachy could not remember, but she knew what to do about it.
She rang up Robert Zerilli, who is King of Eclairs and everything else sweet in Manhattan!

If you're going to break your lenten fast, you should do it right.
We're pretty sure they break their fast on the Thursday before Easter...which is today.
There are cute petite eclairs above and full-size eclairs below, and they are equally delicious.
Why not try both?
Veniero's eclairs are generous in portion and longer and wider than their competitors.
Not that they have any competition!
The eclairs made their debut at Veniero's in the 1940's and they use their famous custard cream where it is made in a steam kettle and slow cooked until there are virtually no lumps whatsoever in the cream.  Veniero's uses all-natural ingredients like whole eggs and milk, and absolutely nothing is artificial.  The bingne' dough is also crafted the old-fashioned way and Robert and his team bake it until it's just the right texture.
All eclairs are filled fresh daily, and the chocolate strip on top is of the highest quality chocolate and fondant.  This incredible attention to detail and commitment to quality is precisely why this family business has been around for four generations since 1894.

There is definitely no other place better in Manhattan if you want dessert, and Robert is the 4th generation owner. Of course he makes the eclairs fresh every day. If the Midwives wanted to come to New York in the 1950's or 60's they could have had an eclair at Veniero's back then.

Veniero's is the only venue that has earned multiple features in Decadent Desserts.

"I can't wait until April 3rd when I can see the midwives eating eclairs on PBS! I know the show is after Easter in America, but Peachy and I would encourage you to break your lenten fast right now and of course, also be sure to have eclairs ready for when you watch so you can eat them during the show!" Robert tells Peachy.

Decadent Desserts: Veniero's Pasticceria and Caffe Est. 1894 Encore Review Our Coverage Sponsored by Fresh Origins

Owner of Veniero's Robert Zerilli with Peachy Deegan

Right now is a big time of celebration in New York as NYCFC just won their second game in a row...stay tuned for our commentary on that.   Also, Tommy McNamara earned goal of the week for MLS.  It's the first win Peachy saw in person.  Finally, it is the most wonderful time of the year: The Stanley Cup Playoffs!
Chicago could win the Stanley Cup tonight!
Dessert is a lovely way to celebrate, and if you have a sweet tooth, there's only one place to go in New York.
VENIERO'S!!!
First, before you read any more be sure to watch Robert's video at the top.
Peachy's friend Robert Zerilli is the 4th generation owner of Veniero's!
Robert joined the family business in 1981 and his wife even picked him up here.  It's a family affair still that began in 1894 by Great Uncle Antonio Veniero; Robert has three fantastic sisters Claudia, Linda and Margaret.
You are all lucky that Veniero's is open 362 days a year!
It is not open on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Days.

Veniero's was first featured in 2014:
Everything there is FABULOUS and here is their latest hit parade.
Veniero's is the first venue to earn an encore in Decadent Desserts.
You might have heard Ms. America-Editor-in-Chief mention a time or two that she likes apple pie.  Just as amazing is a pear Francipane!  Just a little bit different because of the change of fruit of course....the Pear Francipane arrives in style in an almond pastry tart.  Delicious: unsurpassed quality.  It also is available in Apricot.  We were absolutely delighted with the layer of raspberry jam on the bottom!
Everyone tells us how fabulous they all are in desserts, but Veniero's is King.
No one does desserts better. (And after this review guess who spent some quality time with the elliptical...)
Though Veniero's is the oldest game in town they are not content to rest on their laurels -similar to our pal Billy Martin down in Washington!- and Robert is constantly reinventing the classics to modernize their menu, which is the most extensive dessert menu you will ever see.  Peachy counts six pages in front of her right now.
Directly above, please meet our newest edible ami, Annatella!
Annatella is composed of nutella with whipped cream and cream cheese, dark chocolate cake with chocolate crunch and Vanilla Bavarian cream mixed with meringue.

It's the epitome of decadence for all chocoholics, and light as a feather.
We love how the desserts are not gigantic, so you can order many of them, and the peppermint candy stripe is just the right touch.

Chocolate covered strawberries and petit fours are a timeless specialty of Veniero's, and prove that a great idea can endure for decades!  People travel for miles to eat them.  Starting at about one-o'clock and going around the plate, shake the hands of: rum truffle, hazelnut truffle, pink heart sponge cake (all hearts are sponge cake we believe), chocolate dipped strawberry, pistachio truffle, raspberry truffle...all excellent.
Peachy loves coffee and totally depends on it.  What is even better than plain coffee or cappuccino is of course IRISH COFFEE.   And in the summer, the best version is the Iced Baileys Cappuccino!!!  It is to die for and tastes like a dessert, and if you want coffee to go with your desserts this is what you want to order (unless you go in the winter and then just don't get it iced, silly.)  Iced cappuccino is enhanced by Bailey's Irish cream and two scoops of gelato.  One of the best drinks we've ever had!  The menu says with alcohol...you know that the Bailey's makes it better.  We wish we had one right now.
Our more nutritionally angelic partner in dessert crime chose mint tea, which was also superlative and just how you would want mint tea to be.
Also on a hot day you would gravitate towards cold: meet the ices!
The classic lemon ice!
Cantaloupe Ice!
Strawberry Ice!
There is not better ice in the city of New York, and the Rangers probably wish they could skate on this and then eat it.  And though those silver dessert dishes look nice, imagine eating this out of the Stanley Cup!
After you enjoy your desserts, walk around and look at the walls and appreciate what a tremendous citizen Veniero's has been for so long.

What are you waiting for!
Visit Robert and celebrate your life.

Decadent Desserts: Davey's Ice Cream Our Coverage Sponsored by Miraclesuit®

David Yoo the Ice Cream Artisan, and the Strong Coffee Milkshake which earns our HIGHEST Recommendation

Miraclesuit®

the body. They are comfortable, fashionable, and every woman’s dream come
true. The Miraclesuit collection is designed to appeal to real women who
want real confidence and control in their swimwear.
Miraclesuit® Look 10 lbs. lighter in 10 seconds™.

On occasion, great things can happen when you walk down the street.
The vast majority of our reviews are researched to death, and scheduled to a T.
We want everyone to be terrific when we show up, but of course this is not always the case.
It is the biggest breath of fresh air of all for Peachy Deegan to walk by a place that looks good to her to find the owner there.  It is even better when the owner is as talented, smart and passionate about his endeavor as David Yoo.
It is the best when we eat it and we love it.
You already know it's not who you know,
it's WHOM YOU KNOW.
And today, it is also WHOM YOO KNOW, as in David.
David Yoo has a background in Fashion, and now he fashions creations you will crave like you won't believe.  And, it is clear they have fun doing it.  This is no ordinary ice cream.  It takes four days to craft, and Davey's Ice Cream just turned a year old.  It opened in September 2013.
It's not sold in stores.  You can only get Davey's Ice Cream there!
You want this ice cream in a big way.
It's made on premises, and is unique in this aspect.  No other Manhattan venue makes ice cream on the premises.  Everything is done the hard way here, and you can taste it in every bite.  You may think you love your go-to ice cream now, but this will show it up in a big way.
JUST PEACHY!!!

Of course, we had to try something PEACHY!
Every bite of the Peach Bourbon Sorbet cup sang sweet and refreshing!

If you are only going to try one thing however, we totally adored the Strong Coffee milkshake!!!
The pictures do not do it justice and this sweet caffeine, though cold literally of course will set your tastebuds on fire and wake you up out of any daze you might be in.  The super creamy caffeinated dream is simply superb.  It is made through the most painstaking process of all.
The ice cream is mixed with the coffee grounds steeping so splendidly in it, and making this flavor is an eight hour process.  David strains all of the coffee grounds out of the mix and it takes two people two hours just to strain it!
If you replaced your daily morning coffee with this stellar creation, you would have a happy life.
Look at that winner smiling at you!
If Cookie Monster was with us, he certainly would find this one most fetching.
In this ice cream sandwich, homemade chocolate chip cookies hug Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream with an outer layer of Oreos!  The taste is supreme.
You cannot leave without trying a sundae!
Of course, ours was Dark Chocolate Ice Cream with Flakes of Dark Chocolate for our resident Chocoholic-in-Chief.  Homemade Hot Fudge and Homemade Whipped cream grace the top along with a cherry of course.  No shortcuts here, only sensational quality that you will LOVE.
Go ahead, make your life a little sweeter!
David Yoo, the world is very happy you are in Ice Cream and not fashion now.
And you readers, fashion your feet in a Davey's Ice Cream direction!
