#AdvantageousAuctions #ChampagneWishes Acker Makes History with Sale of World’s Most Expensive Bottle of Wine Ever Sold at Auction

Acker, the world’s largest fine wine auction house and America’s oldest wine merchant, set a new world record in fine wine when a single 750 ml bottle of 1945 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti—originally sourced from the personal cellar of Robert Drouhin—sold for $812,500 at Acker’s La Paulée auction this past weekend. The sale surpasses the previous world record of $558,000 set in 2018, cementing the 1945 vintage as the most coveted bottle in the history of wine collecting.

Acker’s annual La Paulée Auction, livestreamed in New York City at Marea, was held in conjunction with the world’s greatest Burgundy celebration. The event delivered a historic three-day performance March 26–28, surpassing $25 million in total sales and setting an extraordinary 460 new world records.

The 1945 Romanée-Conti represents the final vintage produced before Domaine de la Romanée-Conti replanted its oldest vines—grapes that had survived phylloxera, two World Wars and nearly a century of Burgundy history. With production extremely limited, surviving bottles have long been considered the pinnacle of wine collecting, with many connoisseurs believing the pre-phylloxera vines add an unmatched depth and complexity to the wine.

“We made history this weekend,” said John Kapon, Chairman of Acker. “I’ve had the privilege of tasting the 1945 Romanée-Conti just three times in my life, and it is the greatest wine I’ve ever tasted. This remarkable sale was just one of hundreds of record-breaking achievements at an auction that highlighted the accelerating demand for trophy wines at the highest end of the fine wine market. This weekend’s event exemplified the soul and spirit of Burgundy, bringing together the world’s top producers and collectors and creating the perfect conditions for a truly historic result.”

The 1945 Romanée-Conti has consistently commanded record-breaking prices at auction, driven by its extraordinary provenance, mythic scarcity and status as the last expression of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti prior to the replanting of vines. The provenance of this particular bottle—drawn directly from the cellar of Robert Drouhin, one of the most revered names in Burgundy—added an additional layer of significance for bidders and collectors worldwide.

The blistering La Paulée auction set 460 new world records in total, led by Domaine Dujac with 27, followed by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti with 23. Other domaines in high demand included Leflaive (20 new world records), Coche-Dury (19), Duroché (19), Ramonet (16) and Alex Moreau and Bouchard (15 each).

Acker’s 2026 auction season continues with a sale in Hong Kong on April 11, a special Single Cellar auction in the US on April 17, and May sales in Switzerland, Singapore and the US. Consignments are now being accepted for May and June, and weekly web auction deadlines remain every Friday. For more information, please email info@ackerwines.com.

#AdvantageousAuctions #CruisingPeachy Barbie Pink Convertible Built by Disney Up for Grabs at No Reserve Auction!

The Volo Museum, world renowned for its collection of famous and one of a kind vehicles, is unlocking its vault to offer collectors a rare opportunity: a once in a lifetime chance to own the only known real Barbie car in the hands of the public.

Barbies Pink Convertible being sold to the highest bidder. Online Auction Volo Museum
Barbies actual pink Cadillac Built by Walt Disney. Up for grabs to the highest bidder in online no reserve auction.

This official Barbie Pink Convertible, a custom Cadillac built by Disney and used at Walt Disney World in Orlando from 1990 to 1998, is going to auction with no reserve, alongside dozens of other iconic, unusual, and downright bizarre museum pieces. The seven day online auction begins August 1 and ends August 7, and anyone with an eBay account can bid.

Originally painted white and featured in parades as Cruella de Vil's DeVille, the Cadillac was later repainted in Barbie's signature pink and became the ride of the world's most iconic doll. It also saw use by Miss Piggy during its time at Disney.

What makes this Barbie car truly special is its provenance. It is not a fan build, but a documented Disney show vehicle, complete with Disney registration showing a VIN in Walt Disney's name, as well as internal documentation and email correspondence outlining how it was used in park productions. This makes it both a Barbie collectible and a Disney collectible, a rare cross category gem for serious fans and collectors.

"This is the only one of its kind available to the public," said Brian Grams, director of the Volo Museum. "You will never find another Barbie car like this with official Disney registration and documented park history."

The Barbie Cadillac is just the crown jewel of a truly eclectic lineup that includes:A 14 foot tall 8 passenger running and driving hot rod shopping cart
A street legal larger than life Radio Flyer Red Wagon
Britney Spears' personal Mercedes Convertible, once deemed the most dangerous car in Los Angeles
A 45 foot tall 12 passenger Ferris wheel from the 1940s
Dozens of rare antique kiddie rides and Americana themed showpieces

"These items have delighted hundreds of thousands of guests," said Grams. "But we are always evolving. Letting these go makes room for new treasures and gives others the chance to enjoy and preserve them."

All items will be sold at no reserve, meaning they will go to the highest bidder regardless of price. Preview the full auction catalog, with new items being added daily, at volocars.com.

#CruisingPeachy #AdvantageousAuctions #BarrettJackson #BJAC 1977 Ford F-150 “Hoonitruck” Created and Driven by Ken Block to be Sold with No Reserve During the Barrett-Jackson 2025 Scottsdale Auction

Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, is selling a 1977 Ford F-150 custom truck known as “Hoonitruck” (Lot #1365) with No Reserve during the Scottsdale Auction, January 18-26, 2025, at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Designed and built by the late professional rally driver Ken Block with the Hoonigan Racing Division, the all-wheel drive “Hoonitruck” premiered in the Gymkhana drift video series. Watch Barrett-Jackson’s “Quick Look” video here.

“The genius and talent of Ken Block was taken far too early from all of us,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Ken took me for a wild ride in one of his all-wheel-drive vehicles in Scottsdale a few years ago before we auctioned it for charity. It is one of my all-time favorite auction moments. The ‘Hoonitruck’ celebrates Ken’s unrivaled spirit throughout his career as a world-class rally driver and professional drifter. I’m excited that we have the chance to offer this incredible custom truck in January in celebration of Ken’s lasting impact on the motorsports community. This custom truck has a truly remarkable legacy and would be an honored addition to any collection.”

The "Hoonitruck” was built by Ken Block and the Hoonigan team in collaboration with Detroit Speed. It took two years to build from idea to reality for the viral Gymkhana drift video series. It is powered by a 914-horsepower twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that puts power to the ground through a custom all-wheel-drive system. It includes a bespoke, 3D-printed intake manifold designed by Ford Performance, visible through the hood and flanked by two turbochargers.

“Ken was a dedicated family man, as well as a top-notch competitor,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “He came from a ‘Ford family’ and learned to drive in his father’s 1977 Ford F-150, even doing his first burnout in it. That inspired Ken to use the same model and year F-150 to build ‘Hoonitruck.’ This truck represents every aspect of Ken’s life, from his family focus to his driving skills and ability to build amazing vehicles.”

Sitting low and wide, “Hoonitruck” rolls on custom wheels that feature real beadlocks, all wrapped in Toyo tires. The cabin works like a race car and features the Bosch Motorsports system with trailer hitch, brake controller, boost control and screen with Ford Sync.

“Hoonitruck” was featured in Gymkhana’s TEN film by Hoonigan Media, where Block piloted the truck along a part of Route 66 in Shamrock, Texas. It also starred in Climbkhana TWO as part of Block’s climb up China’s 5,000-foot-high Tianmen Mountain highway.

Masterworks by René Magritte, Pablo Picasso, Jean-Michel Basquiat & Cecily Brown Unveiled in Asia for the First Time

From The Collection of Mo Ostin, Legendary Music Executive Responsible for Nurturing Many of the Greatest Musicians:

Frank Sinatra, Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles, Prince, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Many More

A group of long-unseen masterworks by René Magritte, Pablo Picasso, Jean-Michel Basquiat & Cecily Brown are set to go on public view for the first ever time in Asia this week. Together, these exceptional works shine a fascinating light on the lifelong private passion of Mo Ostin - the legendary music executive who, over the course of his long career, had a transformative impact on music industry, quickly identifying great talent, and nurturing and developing the careers of many of the greatest musicians of recent times, including Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart, Prince and Red Hot Chili Peppers, to name a few.

In parallel with his extraordinary career, Ostin also harbored a deep, more private love for the visual artists, acquiring – over the course of some fifty years – a number of magnificent artworks which, like the music he nurtured, were all best in kind. This May, at Sotheby's in New York, thirty-three artworks from Mo Ostin's collection will emerge onto the market. Most have not been seen in public in decades; barely any have appeared at auction before. Ranging in date from 1915 to 2019, Ostin's collection spans a full spectrum of artists: from René Magritte, Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse to Willem de Kooning, Jasper Johns, Joan Mitchel, Cy Twombly, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Cecily Brown.

A number of leading works from the collection will now be displayed in a two-day special preview (from 24-26 April) at Sotheby's Hong Kong. They includeRené Magritte's L'Empire des lumières (est. $35-55 million), from 1951, is among the most iconic works of Modern Art in private hands. Acquired by Ostin in 1979, and not seen in public since, the painting brings together the effects of day and night into one irresistibly striking image: a definitive image of Surrealism, and a timeless masterpiece. The painting belongs to a group of seventeen oils of the same title; many of which hang in leading public institutions.
Not seen in public for over thirty years, another masterpiece by Magritte, Le Domaine d'Arnheim of 1949, (est. $15 – 25 million), shares its name with a short story by Edgar Allen Poe, one of the artist's favorite authors. Just as Poe did in words, here Magritte seeks to capture the "supreme majesty and dignity" of the mountainous landscape of the story's title.
Jean-Michel Basquiat's large-scale Moon View from 1984 (est. $7-10 million), once held in the collection of The Broad Art Foundation, Los Angeles, is a standout example of Basquiat's signature artistic practice. With his own unique symbolic lexicon, Basquiat here synthesizes a full range of influences, from street culture, metaphysics, advertising and theology, to hieroglyphs, art history, and his own Puerto Rican and Haitian heritage.
Pablo Picasso's monumental Paysage (est. $7-10 million), acquired by Ostin over two decades ago, and formerly in the collection of Maya Picasso, is a rare example of a landscape within the artist's prolific oeuvre. Executed in 1965, the painting depicts the village of Mougins in the South of France, where Picasso settled with his last wife Jacqueline.
Acquired by Ostin just one year after it was painted, Cecily Brown's 2015 Free Games for May (est. $3/5 million) brings together the influences of music, art history and culture. Full of energy, the painting takes its title from Pink Floyd's iconic 1967 rock concert "Games for May."

#ParisPeachy #AlainDelon @bonhams1793 #AdvantageousAuctions Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr to Offer Collection of French Icon Alain Delon in Paris

ALAIN DELON, 1972 © JEAN-PIERRE BONNOTTE - GAMMA RAPHO
Alain Delon, 1972

Paris – The Collection of French film star and legend, Alain Delon, one of the great screen presences of the 20th century, will be offered at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr in the sale Alain Delon: 60 Years of Passion in Paris on Thursday 22 June 2023. With a superb selection of sculptures and fine drawings from the Italian Renaissance and from the French 19th century, the Alain Delon Collection is made up of masterpieces by great names from the history of art, including Veronese, Beccafumi, Corot, Delacroix, Millet, Dufy, Gleizes and many more. The sale will comprise 81 lots and the total estimate for the works is €4 - 5m.

For more than 60 years, Delon (born 1935) has been a discerning and passionate art collector. He recalls the moment he was bitten by the collecting bug. "There are two things I regard as my legacy; my acting career and my art collection. I am so proud of them both. I bought my first drawing in London when I was 24 and I've acquired works ever since. People ask me if there is a thread that binds these pieces together and I say "C'est moi!""

Delon's celebrated acting career began in the late 1950s, but it was during the 1960s, '70s and '80s that he dazzled in films such as Rocco and His Brothers (1960), The Leopard (1963), La Piscine (1969), Le Samouraї (1967), Le Cercle Rouge (1970), Mr Klein (1976) and Notre Histoire (1984) for which he won the French equivalent of an Oscar, The César Award for Best Actor. Admired for his striking good looks, Delon is equally celebrated for his prowess as an actor and has worked with the leading directors of his day including Luchino Visconti, Jean-Pierre Melville, Louis Malle and Jean-Luc Godard. He was awarded the Légion d'Honneur in 1991 and is the recipient of an honorary Golden Bear and an honorary Palme d'Or.

Anouchka Delon, the daughter of Alain Delon, said: "These marvellous works of art were part of my childhood, and now I am so happy the world is discovering them. I know they have been faithful companions to him and that they give him immense joy."

Arnaud Cornette de Saint Cyr, CEO, Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr in Paris, commented: "It is easy to see how Alain Delon's great eye has guided and informed the quality of the paintings, drawings and objects in his collection. His passion and unparalleled discernment are reflected in his choices: Delacroix, Corot, Millet are alongside works by Dufy, Sérusier and Gleizes. It is a great honour to offer such a superb selection of drawings, paintings and sculptures carefully collected during the past 60 years."

The collection will have a global tour, starting in Brussels (19-20 April), then New York (5-9 May), Hong Kong (24-27 May), Geneva (1-3 June), and Paris (17-21 June) before the sale at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr on Thursday 22 June.

Highlights of the collection include:

• La plage de Sainte-Adresse, 1906 by Raoul Dufy (1877-1953). Sainte-Adresse became the main seaside resort of Le Havre at the turn of the 1860s. It attracted tourists and artists alike, among them Boudin, Jongkind and Monet who made Sainte-Adresse a destination for painting. Estimate: €600,000-800,000.

• Two works by Eugène Delacroix (1798-1863). Cheval arabe attaché à un piquet (Arab Horse tied to a stake) from 1825 (estimate: €400,000-600,000). Chef Arabe (Maroc) (Moroccan Chieftain) is a fine watercolour painted in 1832, the date of Delacroix's trip to Morocco when he accompanied the Count of Mornay, the ambassador of King Louis-Philippe. Estimate: €50,000-80,000.

• A Landscape by Albert Gleizes (1881-1953). Painted in 1914-15, the work illustrates the new Cubist tendencies embraced by Gleizes after the publication in 1912 of his work Du Cubisme, co-written with Jean Metzinger. Estimate: €200,000-300,000.

• Four works by Jean-François Millet (1814-1875) including Young Girls in Barbizon, circa 1850 estimated at €200,000-300,000) and Normandy Milkmaid, a charcoal drawing estimated at €100,000-150,000. The theme of the Normandy milkmaid dates back to Millet's youth and was one to which he returned throughout his life.

• Genoa, The Apennines, a delicate oil on canvas from 1834 by Camille Corot (1796-1875). A perennial nomad, Corot travelled the length and breadth of provincial France, and lived and worked in Rome, Switzerland, the Netherlands and England. Living part of the year in Ville-d'Avray, he painted extensively, with the concept that light creates life. Estimate: €100,000-150,000.

• A small double-sided pen and bistre wash drawing by Domenico Beccafumi (circa 1486-1551) depicting Saint Anthony on the front and Kneeling Women on the reverse. Estimate: €50,000-80,000.

• Saint George slaying the Dragon in pen and ink by Veronese (1528-1588). Estimate: €40,000-60,000.

• Several works by Jan van Goyen (1596-1665) including Winter Landscape, a watercolour from 1626. The painter and printmaker, Jan van Goyen epitomises the Dutch Golden Age with his naturalistic landscapes. Estimate: €30,000-50,000.

• Un lion couvrant une lionne by Georges Lucien Guyot (1885-1976), as well as bronzes by Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875), represent Alain Delon's great love for animal art. Estimate: €30,000 - 40,000.

#AdvantageousAuctions @HindmanAuctions ALYSSA D. QUINLAN APPOINTED CEO OF HINDMAN

WITH 25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN FINANCE AND FINE ART AUCTIONS, QUINLAN IS POISED TO LEAD HINDMAN'S NEXT PHASE OF GROWTH

HINDMAN RECORDED ITS HIGHEST-EVER ANNUAL SALES TOTAL IN 2022

Hindman, a leading national fine art auction house with a global buyer base, has promoted Alyssa D. Quinlan to the role of Chief Executive Officer. She steps into the leadership role after three highly-successful years as Chief Business Development Officer, a period in which Hindman increased annual sales by 43%. In 2022, the company recorded its highest-ever annual sales total and expanded its presence to New York, its 16th location in the U.S.

Alyssa D. Quinlan, CEO, Hindman

Quinlan brings 25 years of diversified experience in private banking, wealth management, and fine art appraisals to the CEO role. Early in her career she led business development at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in Chicago, before moving on to leadership roles at J.P. Morgan Private Bank and Gurr Johns, the global art advisory and appraisal firm. She returned to the auction sector in 2019, joining a newly re-launched Hindman, created from the merger of Leslie Hindman Auctioneers and Cowan's Auctions. She is the second woman to serve as Hindman's CEO, following in the footsteps of her mentor Ms. Hindman, who broke barriers for women in the industry when she founded the Chicago-based auction house 40 years ago.

Jay Krehbiel, Co-Chairman and CEO of Hindman since 2018, appointed Quinlan as his successor in the CEO role. He moves into a new role as Executive Chairman, where he will continue to advise and support the company's growth strategy, technology initiatives, and recruitment efforts in key markets.

"Alyssa has been instrumental in helping me to achieve a sustained period of strong annual sales and exceptional performance on behalf of our clients," noted Krehbiel. "In the three years since she returned to Hindman, Alyssa's entrepreneurial approach has helped us re-energize our business development strategy, grow our Trusts and Estates business, and re-launch our core Appraisals division – all with the goal of providing more sophisticated services to our clients. As a result, Hindman is best-placed to support estates and fiduciaries as they navigate today's increasingly complex economic environment."

In her new capacity, Quinlan oversees strategy and day-to-day operations for Hindman, which specializes in providing full-spectrum appraisal and auction services to private collectors, estates, and cultural institutions. Hindman conducts over 140 live and online auctions annually in all major fine art and luxury collecting categories, connecting buyers in over 70 countries worldwide with unique collecting opportunities. Sales in 2022 reached a company record high of $100 million, continuing a multi-year trend of steady organic growth.

"Early in my career, Leslie Hindman taught me the importance of a client-centric approach to business, and it has remained a cornerstone of my career over the last 25 years, whether in wealth management, appraisal services, or fine art and auctions," said Quinlan. "I am honored to now lead Hindman into its fifth decade as a company, with an unwavering commitment to our clients, supported by a talented team of 175 professionals around the country."

Quinlan's appointment follows Hindman's recent expansion into the New York region, a key growth market for important estates and private collections. The new Manhattan location will include a full-service auction room – Hindman's fifth overall – creating another major sales hub for the company to supplement its Chicago, Palm Beach, Denver, and Cincinnati sale rooms. To see a calendar of online and live auctions for the first quarter of 2023, visit hindmanauctions.com/auctions.
