#SportyPeachy #EnglandPeachy Kings Dock Sports Group Limited Launches Liverpool Basketball as Super League Basketball's Newest Franchise, Returning Top-Tier Professional Basketball to Liverpool
Super League Basketball (SLB) announced the launch of its landmark 10th franchise, returning top-flight men's professional basketball to one of Britain's most iconic sporting cities. The new club, Liverpool Basketball, will begin competing in the upcoming 2026-27 season, with M&S Bank Arena serving as its home venue on Liverpool's iconic waterfront.
The announcement represents more than long-term investment and the launch of a new club. It marks the creation of a new sporting institution for Liverpool -one designed to compete at the highest level while delivering lasting economic, community and cultural impact.
The franchise is owned by Kings Dock Sports Group Ltd, the sports holding company founded by media executive and sports investor, Jason Dolan. Kings Dock Sports Group is committed to building a club capable of competing at the highest level internationally while becoming a lasting civic institution for Liverpool and a catalyst for growing basketball across the region.
Jason Dolan, Founder and Owner - Kings Dock Sports Group Ltd, said:
"We are building for decades - not seasons. That's why Liverpool was the clear choice. Its global sporting reputation, world-class arena, vibrant city centre and passionate supporters have created a culture shaped by clubs that represent more than competition - they represent their communities, their supporters and their city. This culture provides the foundation to build one of Europe's premier basketball clubs.
Our ambition is to build a professional club that Liverpool is proud to call its own. One that reflects the character of this city, inspires young people, attracts world-class talent and delivers an unforgettable experience to the Liverpool community every time the doors open at M&S Bank Arena."
The new franchise further strengthens Liverpool's position as one of the UK's leading destinations for major sporting and entertainment events, adding another year-round professional sports organisation to the city's expanding visitor economy.
Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance, Resources and Transformation, Councillor Ruth Bennett, said:
"Liverpool has earned a reputation as a city that stages major sport to a world-class standard, and the arrival of a Super League Basketball franchise restores something that has been missing for more than a decade - a top-flight professional team on our waterfront across a full season, year after year."
Cllr Graham Morgan, Deputy Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, said:
"This investment will bring a new professional sports organisation to the Liverpool City Region, creating jobs, strengthening our visitor economy and reinforcing our region's standing as somewhere global investors choose to build.
Just as importantly, the club's commitment to working with local communities should open pathways for young people in this fast-growing sport. I look forward to seeing our newest professional team competing and creating opportunities for local people."
Faye Dyer, Chief Executive of Liverpool Experience Campus, home to M&S Bank Arena said:
"Welcoming a Super League Basketball franchise to M&S Bank Arena marks another exciting chapter in Liverpool's rich sporting story and we're proud to play a role in bringing it to life.
This partnership further strengthens Liverpool's reputation as a destination for world-class sport, entertainment and live experiences, while highlighting the important role Liverpool Experience Campus plays in the city's ongoing growth and success.
Bringing people together through unforgettable live experiences is at the heart of everything we do. Becoming the home of this new team reflects our ambition to make elite sport more accessible, inspire the next generation and create year-round energy on the waterfront.
We're excited to welcome new audiences through our doors and give fans the opportunity to experience top-level basketball in the heart of the city. We hope that seeing elite athletes compete on their doorstep will inspire young people across the Liverpool City Region, helping to grow the game and create memories that will last for years to come."
Annie Brown, General Manager of The Municipal and Chair of Liverpool's ABID Board, said:
"We are delighted to be able to support these events that don't just bring footfall to the city, but vibrancy and animation. Liverpool's ABID introduced the £2 levy to support events that make a real difference to our visitor economy in a sustainable way. It's about converting visits to stays to support our hotels and accommodation sector. We know that people want to make the most out of their visit and sporting events really do capture the imagination and encourage people to stay for longer. Basketball will find its audience in Liverpool, and it'll will be another sport we get passionate about, which is good news for everyone".
Over the coming weeks, the organisation will unveil the club's identity, branding, leadership appointments, coaching staff and inaugural playing roster, alongside a comprehensive community program designed to inspire participation and provide pathways for the young talented players across the Liverpool City Region.
Season ticket registrations, founding partnerships and additional club announcements will begin later this summer as preparations continue for the franchise's inaugural season.
Today marks the return of professional basketball to Liverpool. Tomorrow begins the work of building a club that will represent the city for generations to come.

Arrow McLaren Adds Autonomous Trucking Pioneer Aurora as Official Partner
Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team announced a multi-year partnership with Aurora Innovation, Inc. (NASDAQ: AUR), welcoming the self-driving technology company as an Official Partner.
Aurora is transforming the movement of goods with the Aurora Driver, its self-driving system that enables a Class 8 truck to drive itself. Trucking is a trillion dollar industry in the U.S. but it faces challenges, including an aging driver population, skyrocketing operating costs and underutilized assets. These challenges make autonomy – which adds safe, reliable capacity without displacing jobs – valuable to the industry and society.
Last year, Aurora became the first company to launch a commercial self-driving service with heavy-duty trucks on public roads. Aurora recently released its second-generation driverless truck and plans to expand across the Sun Belt.
The partnership will showcase Aurora branding across the Arrow McLaren team kit beginning at Portland International Raceway August 7-9. For the 2027 season, their branding will extend to driver firesuits and the engine cover of the No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet.
Kevin Thimjon, President at Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team, said:
"We're excited to welcome Aurora to our team. This partnership is a natural fit, as both of our organizations understand the value of innovation, safety and reliability. We look forward to partnering with Aurora as they continue to grow and shape the future of transportation."
Ossa Fisher, President at Aurora, said:
"We are thrilled to team up with Arrow McLaren, a brand that embodies the same relentless pursuit of performance and innovation that drives us at Aurora. This multi-year partnership is more than just a collaboration; it’s an alignment of two organizations rooted in precision, cutting-edge technology, and a shared vision for the future. Racing demands excellence at every turn, and we look forward to accelerating our growth alongside one of the most iconic names in motorsport."
About Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team
Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team builds on McLaren Racing’s rich heritage, giving it a home in North America. Within the INDYCAR SERIES, the team’s legacy includes three McLaren-powered Indianapolis 500 victories (1972, 1974, 1976), alongside McLaren Racing’s broader IndyCar total of 30 wins, 31 poles and 93 podium finishes.
Following a dominant run in the 1970s, McLaren Racing re-entered the INDYCAR SERIES forty years later with Indianapolis 500 entries in 2017 and 2019 with Fernando Alonso behind the wheel. In 2020, McLaren Racing solidified its full-season return through a partnership with Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports before securing majority ownership in 2021 and full ownership at the end of 2024.
In 2026, the team competes with Pato O’Ward, reigning runner-up in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, in the No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet, Nolan Siegel in the No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet and Christian Lundgaard, who was fifth in the 2025 championship, in the No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet. Ryan Hunter-Reay also competed with the team at the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 in the No. 31 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet.
Arrow McLaren operates out of the McLaren Racing Center (MRC) in Indianapolis, Indiana, and competes through a shared ambition: to race and to win - for its people, its partners, its fans and the sport.

#EnglandPeachy #ProductAlert The Estée Lauder Companies and University of Leeds Partner to Advance the Future of Complexion Shade Matching
New research aims to tackle one of beauty’s most persistent challenges: accurately matching shade complexion-enhancing products to the full, diverse spectrum of global skin tones
The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. (NYSE: EL) today announced a research collaboration with the School of Design, University of Leeds, United Kingdom, and Dr. Kaida Xiao, a world-renowned leader in color science and visual perception. Despite significant advances in beauty innovation, finding the right foundation or concealer shade remains one of the most common consumer frustrations.
By combining advanced color science with research into how consumers perceive their own skin, this partnership aims to strengthen the development of luxury and prestige complexion-enhancing products with more precise shade matching and improved formulas. The findings could help establish new scientific benchmarks for evaluating foundation, concealer and other complexion products to deliver more natural-looking results in everyday life.
The project, led by Dr. Kaida Xiao, Professor of Color and Imaging Science at the Leeds Institute of Textiles and Color (LITAC), School of Design, University of Leeds, uses advanced psychophysical methods – ways of studying how people see and notice differences, rooted in visual perception science – to investigate how individuals perceive color undertones and detect subtle differences in color.
By examining the relationship between how color is measured by scientific instruments and human visual perception of the same colors, particularly in real-world viewing conditions, the research seeks to identify when subtle differences in tone become noticeable to consumers and when they do not. These insights will help improve how complexion products are evaluated and developed, reducing mismatches and enabling more natural-looking results.
“Delivering transformative innovation in complexion and color cosmetics begins with a deeper understanding of how consumers perceive their own skin tone,” said Claude Saliou, Senior Vice President, Advanced Technologies and Global Clinical and Consumer Sciences, The Estée Lauder Companies.
“While skin tone can be measured with increasing precision, understanding how consumers perceive their tone in the real world remains a complex scientific challenge. By partnering with the University of Leeds, a global leader in color science, we have an opportunity to better understand how consumers experience shade matching in the real world. These insights help us improve shade accuracy, develop higher-performing formulas that look more natural and consistent, and support continued innovation across our luxury and prestige portfolio. This partnership helps us prioritize inclusivity at the center of innovation, creating formulas where every consumer can find their exact, natural-looking match.”
“Skin color perception is highly complex, shaped by subtle interactions between multiple factors,” said Dr. Kaida Xiao, Professor of Color and Imaging Science, University of Leeds. “We are thrilled to collaborate with The Estée Lauder Companies, a global leader in prestige beauty recognized for its long-standing dedication to advancing skin science and its commitment to scientific excellence. This partnership brings together academic expertise and industry leadership to advance understanding in this important area of color science.”

#WorldCup2026 #LetterstothePeachy #SpectacularSportspeople by #MoverandShaker Paul Rejer, FIFA Assistant Referee, Assessor for the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) WORLD CUP 2026 IN THE USA – EXCLUSIVE INSIGHTS FOR WHOM YOU KNOW #EnglandPeachy
Note from the editor: it is extremely rare for us to publish something written by someone other than Peachy. However, for all of the home games of NYCFC for its inaugural season in 2015, she and Paul were both in the press box watching the games and Paul trains nearly all referees as we see it! No one knows more about soccer rules and has a more pronounced love of the game than Paul Rejer says Peachy. We will humor Paul and allow him to use English, not American, spelling.
Someone should be his agent and get him a commentary job on sports tv!!!!

WORLD CUP 2026 IN THE USA – EXCLUSIVE INSIGHTS FOR WHOM YOU KNOW
BY PAUL REJER
Like most sports, football (soccer) has its share of controversial refereeing decisions, and this tournament is no exception. Unsurprisingly, many of the main talking points have centered on the interpretation and use of VAR (Video Assistant Referee). I was part of the 2014 panel that helped introduce VAR in the USA for Major League Soccer, where it appears to have become a valuable support tool for referees in North America.
VAR was introduced partly to reduce controversy, yet in many leagues around the world it has created even more debate—and, at times, greater frustration—than ordinary refereeing decisions. Its purpose is to intervene only in cases of clear and obvious errors. In my view, this is where VAR officials and referees have been inconsistent with IFAB (International Football Association Board) protocol, as shown by several controversial examples below.
Argentina v Egypt – Disallowed Goal
After the match, Egypt coach Hossam Hassan blamed VAR for his team’s elimination, arguing that the officiating was unfair and favoured the reigning world champions, Argentina.
The incident began deep in Egypt’s defensive corner, where Marwan Attia was judged to have fouled Argentina’s Lisandro Martinez. Referee François Letexier, who had a clear view, saw no foul and allowed play to continue. Egypt then moved the ball the length of the pitch before Zico scored an outstanding goal that would have made it 2-0. They later scored again in the 68th minute, which would have made it 3-0. However, VAR recommended an on-field review, and the goal was disallowed. Was this foul truly a clear and obvious error, given that it occurred deep in Egypt’s own half and involved only a slight shirt pull and possible foot contact? The correct procedure may have been followed, but is this level of forensic analysis what football wants when it results in a superb goal being ruled out to the surprise of almost everyone?
Additional examples
Mexico v England – Penalty Awarded to Mexico
Harry Kane and Mexico’s Gimenez both raised a foot while challenging for the ball. Referee Alireza Faghani, who was well positioned, did not award a penalty, but VAR advised him to review the incident on the pitch-side monitor. After the review, he awarded Mexico a penalty.
This decision was:
Completely unexpected.
Highly subjective and, in my view, not a clear and obvious error.
England v Norway – England Penalty Rescinded
England’s Djed Spence burst into the penalty area before Norway’s Oscar Bobb came across him from the side, causing Spence to go down immediately. Referee Clement Turpin, widely regarded as one of the world’s best referees, confidently awarded England a penalty. VAR then advised him to review the incident on the monitor, after which the penalty decision was overturned.
This decision was:
Completely unexpected.
Highly subjective and, in my view, not a clear and obvious error.
Argentina v Switzerland – Breel Embolo Sent Off
Referee João Pinheiro initially showed Argentina’s Leandro Paredes a yellow card for what he considered a reckless challenge on Breel Embolo, who went to ground. VAR intervened, and after reviewing the incident on the monitor, the referee rescinded Paredes’ yellow card and instead cautioned Embolo for simulation. As Embolo had already been booked, this second yellow resulted in his dismissal. At the time, in the 72nd minute, the score was 1-1, with Switzerland gaining momentum after just scoring. Despite being reduced to ten men, they held on until extra time before eventually losing 3-1, a heartbreaking outcome for the Swiss.
The decision was highly controversial because it was described as a case of “mistaken identity”, which can legitimately be reviewed. But was it truly mistaken identity, given that the player originally cautioned was the one the referee intended to book, and first yellow cards are not reviewable?
I do not believe this was a case of mistaken identity, but I do think it was a fair and effective use of VAR. Embolo clearly dived and deserved a second yellow card. Players already on a booking must be especially careful for the rest of the match, and this is one positive aspect of VAR: it can influence player behaviour. However, VAR should not be used to review and overturn incidents that are not clear and obvious.

#KeepingEnglandonTop The Estée Lauder Companies Strengthens UK Manufacturing Network as Whitman Facility Celebrates 60 Years of British Craftsmanship
As The Estée Lauder Companies’ (NYSE: EL) Whitman manufacturing facility celebrates its 60th anniversary, the company today announced a strategic investment that will strengthen its UK manufacturing network, further reinforcing its long-standing commitment to British craftsmanship, innovation, and growth in prestige fragrance.
Established in 1966, Whitman is a strategic part of The Estée Lauder Companies’ global manufacturing network, producing skin care and fragrance products for brands including Jo Malone London, Estée Lauder, Clinique, and La Mer. Today, the site produces more than 90 million units annually for distribution across the UK, Europe, and other select markets worldwide.
“For sixty years, Whitman has reflected the craftsmanship, quality, and innovation that have defined The Estée Lauder Companies since my grandparents founded the business,” said William P. Lauder, Chair of the Board of Directors, The Estée Lauder Companies. “When my family established our manufacturing footprint here in 1966, we recognized the remarkable depth of British artisanal skill, and we are proud to continue investing in that legacy today.”
As The Estée Lauder Companies continues to invest in Whitman’s future, the company will integrate select luxury candle and home fragrance capabilities from long-standing partner and creator of luxury candles and scent diffusers, Contract Candles, into its UK manufacturing operations. This includes assuming the lease of one of Contract Candles’ two UK facilities, welcoming approximately 50 employees into the organization over time, and adding new research and development and quality capabilities.
Following the integration, the UK will serve as the primary manufacturing base for candles across The Estée Lauder Companies’ prestige brand portfolio worldwide, including the Jo Malone London, TOM FORD and AERIN brands. The investment enhances operational control and long-term resilience in a strategically important category while reinforcing the UK as a center of excellence for fragrance craftsmanship and manufacturing.
Speaking during Whitman’s 60th anniversary celebration, Roberto Canevari, Executive Vice President, Chief Value Chain Officer, The Estée Lauder Companies, said: “The UK plays a significant role in our global manufacturing network, and this investment in candle and home fragrance manufacturing reflects our continued commitment to British craftsmanship and innovation. Bringing these activities more closely into our manufacturing network will strengthen resilience and support our ability to continue delivering the exceptional quality and artistry that define our brands."
Home fragrance continues to represent a growth opportunity across The Estée Lauder Companies’ portfolio of fragrance brands, driven by expanding consumer interest in premium scent experiences and elevated home environments. Dining out in 2026: Brits Embrace Group Gatherings, Happy Hour and Retro Classics
OpenTable reveals its annual Top 100 Restaurants in the UK for 2025, alongside its key 2026 dining trends
OpenTable, a global leader in restaurant technology, has revealed its annual Top 100 Restaurants in the UK list alongside its 2026 dining trends. With dining in the UK up 4% year-over-year (YoY) in 2025,* and Brits set to dine out on average six times a month in 2026,** dining out is on the menu for the year ahead and restaurants are front and centre. Gen Z are particularly enthusiastic, planning to dine out nine times a month, second only to Millennials at ten.**
The dining trends that shaped 2025 and what's on the menu for 2026, based on OpenTable data and consumer research:
The more the merrier: Almost half of diners (44%) say they'd prefer eating with others over going solo in 2026.** Group dining also grew by 5% in 2025 YoY,* with the most popular days for group dining on Mother's Day weekend and major sporting events, including rugby matches.* Looking ahead, the appetite for togetherness shows no sign of slowing down, with more than a third (36%) of Brits wanting to see more group and private dining in 2026.** OpenTable's new private and group dining marketplace is helping to make those shared moments even easier to plan and enjoy.
Happy hour and strategic spenders: Brits are also adjusting how and when they dine. In 2025, dining between 4pm–5pm rose by 6% YoY.* When it comes to spending, nearly half (49%) of Brits plan to spend more on dining out in 2026 vs 2025, rising to 70% of Gen Z and Millennials.** Despite this, 54% of Brits want to see more happy hours and value promotions in 2026.**
"Dining has become about far more than what's on the plate this year. It's about connection and creating unforgettable moments together, with new research showing that 79% of Brits say eating out helps them feel more connected to others,**" said Sasha Shaker, Senior Director at OpenTable in the UK and Ireland. "With Brits set to dine out six times a month on average in 2026, we're confident that restaurants will remain at the heart of the UK's social scene in the year ahead.**"
Bold flavours and retro favourites: When it comes to taste, 2026 is shaping up to be a year that blends global cuisines with nostalgia. Mediterranean (+35%), Greek (+27%) and Contemporary Asian (+21%) cuisines saw the biggest YoY dining increases in 2025, reflecting a growing appetite for bold, vibrant flavours.* However, nostalgia is also making a comeback, with Gen Z diners championing retro comfort classics like Bangers and Mash and Prawn Cocktail as dishes they'd love to see on menus of restaurants in 2026.**
One of the most surprising food trends for next year? Sharing plates are becoming less popular as 56% of Brits prefer individual servings. Brits expect to see fried chicken, gourmet burgers, protein-packed dishes, and espresso-based drinks taking centre stage in 2026.**
