Champagne Wishes: Double Cross Vodka

Whom You Know is always on the lookout for the finest of everything, and we do love our vodka. We are pleased to announce that Old Nassau Imports, a luxury spirits company, has introduced its flagship spirit brand, Double Cross Vodka, to hundreds of restaurants, bars, lounges and liquor stores in Manhattan.

Double Cross is the only Slovakian vodka (in addition to being Irish, Peachy Deegan is also Slovak!) to be released in the United States, and is produced in a 13th century Slovakian village located in the heart of Eastern Europe. Expertly crafted by master distiller Dr. Jan Krak, Double Cross uses only locally-grown organic winter wheat and mountain spring water drawn from aquifers located 200-feet below ground level.

Seven-times-distilled and seven-times filtered, the result is an exceptionally pure spirit, with hints of white pepper and lemon zest, that has already received industry accolades. These include a “Gold Medal” for taste at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, a four-star rating in F. Paul Pacult’s Spirits Journal (June 2008), and a 91-‘Outstanding’ rating from spirits expert Anthony Dias Blue in Patterson’s The Tasting Panel magazine (October 2008). Now we add our recommendation here at Whom You Know!

The spirit’s pristine quality is best enjoyed neat in a snifter or in a classic martini, allowing the aroma of white pepper and lemon zest to reveal itself fully. Double Cross can also be enjoyed in an array of exciting and flavorful cocktails, including “Double Up,” a blend of Double Cross Vodka, lychees, fresh lime and ginger and agave nectar; “Pear of Crosses,” a combination of Double Cross Vodka, Poire Willam and Pernod; and “Double Dare,” a cocktail made with Double Cross Vodka, fresh jalapeno and lime slices, fresh-squeezed orange juices and agave nectar. Additional signature cocktails are available at www.doublecrossvodka.com. Peachy likes it with soda and a slice of peach!

In addition to receiving acclaim for its outstanding taste, Double Cross has also been recognized for its bottle design, which was purposefully engineered to reflect the elegance of its contents and the nobility of its Slovakian heritage. The unique rectangular packaging features a number of artistic elements including verses of old-world Slovakian poetry silk screened on the back, a metal closure and an individually-numbered tamper seal. The brand’s striking Double Cross logo, derived from the Slovakian flag and coat of arms, serves as the bottle’s design centerpiece. Awarded the “Gold Medal” for packaging design at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Double Cross is the only vodka to ever win the “Gold Medal” for both taste and design.

“Today’s spirits consumer is seeking an extraordinary drinking experience, and Double Cross Vodka delivers a unique combination of prestige, modern style, and outstanding quality,” states Double Cross CEO Malcolm M. Lloyd, M.D. “Matching unparalleled taste with a simple yet evocative bottle design, Double Cross offers the sophisticated spirits consumer a pure drinking experience. We are thrilled with the positive responses Double Cross has received among industry experts, including high profile mixologists and chefs, as well as spirits enthusiasts looking for a new and innovative product to add to their high end spirits repertoire.”
