READ THIS: My Journey with Farrah: A Story of Life, Love and Friendship by Alana Stewart

Of all of the books we have reviewed, this is the most emotional and most touching. Alana Stewart is a gifted writer, and this is not only the story of someone famous that faced a challenge that is completely non-discriminating, it is the story of good times as well as the obvious less good times and the story of what one human being will do for another in the name of friendship, which is perhaps the greatest of all relationships.

Right off the bat, Stewart says:
"Men come and go-God knows they certainly have in my life-but girlfriends are forever. I have a lot of girlfriends, but only a few very, very close ones. And in the middle of that select circle, I considered Farrah Fawcett to be my soul-sister."

On sale on August 11, My Journey with Farrah recounts the friendship of over thirty years between Farrah Fawcett and Alana Stewart in a honestly-journaled review of the challenges over the last three years, and a recapture of the happier times as well. Avid Whom You Know readers will know from Charitable Peachy that we strongly support all causes fighting cancer which makes this work even more poignant from our point of view.

For those of us that have lost someone to cancer and have seen firsthand how devastating it can be, this can be difficult to read as surely memories will come back. However, the story that is told by Alana Stewart is told so well even if you have to put down the book crying at some pages you still will be glad you are reading it and you will pick it right back up.

In the 1970's Alana and Farrah met at a dinner party and the story began...they supported each other through the ups and downs of life in the spotlight of entertainment's glitz and glamor, which is only seen from afar by most of us. However, the realness of the both the story and the friendship is genuine from the start and cancer unfortuantely becomes the great equalizer for both parties.

Facing cancer is one of many challenges they face together, just as going through 30 years with anyone, multiple challenges will inevitably arise. The ups and downs Alana and Farrah face, confront and celebrate only make their bond stronger.

This is a must-read for anyone with a heart and a great gift for one close friend to give another. Whom You Know strongly recommends My Journey with Farrah: A Story of Life, Love and Friendship by Alana Stewart.

A portion of the author's proceeds from this book will go to The Farrah Fawcett Foundation to support cancer research.
