Guests at the fundraising event, sponsored by Ray Catena Auto Group and ESPN Zone NY, enjoyed Monday Night Football on huge HD screens, great food, entertainment by Christian comedian Michael Jr. and the opportunity to meet many of their football heroes from the New York Jets. Lucky attendees even found themselves sampling D’Brickashaw Ferguson’s secret concoction “The Brickhouse”.

Live commentary for the evening was provided by WFAN’s Joe Benigno and CBS sportscaster Sam Ryan served as the celebrity auctioneer promoting great items including sports memorabilia, interactive fan experiences and luxury packages.

“Last year’s inaugural tailgate party was outstanding and we are looking to build on its enormous success for an even bigger turnout this year,” said Mercedes Cotchery. “It’s through fundraisers like the tailgate party that allows The Cotchery Foundation to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged youth in our community.”

The Cotchery Foundation’s goal is to enhance the opportunities currently available to disadvantaged youth by partnering with established, but underfunded programs struggling to meet the increasing demand on their services.  Last year, The Cotchery Foundation held its inaugural “Tailgate With The Pros,” in the Mercedes Benz showroom of Ray Catena Auto Group in Union, NJ. Over 300 guests enjoyed Monday Night Football with some of their favorite players like Jerricho Cotchery, Darrelle Revis, Kellen Clemens, Brandon Moore,
Brad Smith, Damien Woody, Eric Smith and more!  In total, over $62,000 was raised which went a long way in helping the foundation achieve its mission of “opening windows of opportunity.”

The proceeds that are raised from the event including corporate sponsorships, ticket sales and auction items will be used to aid two outstanding programs, the Pride Academy Charter School in East Orange, NJ and six Citizen Schools sites in Newark, Brooklyn and Harlem, helping them enhance educational opportunities for children.

Citizen Schools partners with middle schools to expand the learning day for low-income children across the country. The program complements classroom learning by engaging students in hands-on learning projects led by adult volunteers after school and supported by a staff of professional educators.

Founded in 2008, the Pride Academy’s mission is to encourage young adults to harness the power within them and use it to change their lives and the world. The proceeds donated to Pride Academy will help launch a sports program at the academy and fund Mrs. Cotchery’s girls club and JCo’s boys club for 7th and 8th grade students.
