Champagne Wishes: Macallan Fine Oak 10 Year Scotch Whiskey is Perfect for Manhattan in January

Well of course you need some Scotch Whiskey to put in your fine Tot!  We recommend the Macallan Fine Oak 10 Year (SRP $39.99).  The whole experience is tremendously sensory from seeing the clarity of the whiskey, to hearing it happily pour into the tot, to "nosing" it around as it swirls around the tot and finally of course feeling it hit your lips and tasting it!  Established in 1824, Macallan is an icon of the industry and in here they have produced an exemplary product.  If you are a newer scotch whiskey drinker we believe this would be perfect for you to ease you into the whole experience.  If you are more established this is perfect to make ordinary days extraordinary this winter!  In nosing it, there is not a right or wrong scent to pick up on:  it is your own experience and what you pick up.  Peachy picks up notes of maple, woods, and pinecones.  It is like a walk through the winter forest with your grandmother when you were a kid  (not that Peachy was drinking whiskey as a child!).  The taste is amazingly smooth.  We drink it straight as we think you nearly must be crazy to use "the rocks" in this weather, but also recommend adding a splash of water to it, adjusting quantity for taste.

Fine Oak Collection
Breaking with 180 years of tradition, The Macallan added American bourbon casks into the equation to produce The Macallan Fine Oak range of smooth, delicate single malts.  The Macallan Fine Oak is Triple Cask Matured in a unique, complex combination of exceptional oak casks; European oak seasoned with sherry, American oak seasoned with sherry and American oak seasoned with bourbon, to deliver an extraordinary smooth, delicate, yet complex Single Malt.  Whisky expert Jim Murray described The Macallan Fine Oak as “representing by far the best range of non-vintage whiskies to be launched by any one distillery for possibly the last decade.”

The Macallan – Masters of Spirit and Wood
The Macallan is the world’s most precious whisky and Wine Enthusiast’s 2008 “Distiller of the Year.”  Distilled on the Easter Elchies estate above the banks of the Spey River in the Scottish Highlands since 1824, The Macallan Single Highland Malt is produced without compromise to achieve the highest standard of quality and taste.  The hallmarks of The Macallan are its natural color (caramel is never used); flavors of citrus, dried fruits, cloves, wood and toffee; subtle sweetness and profound richness carry into the finish.  The Macallan range of single malts in the U.S. includes:  The Macallan Sherry Oak: 12 Years Old, 18 Years Old, 25 Years Old, 30 Years Old, Cask Strength; The Macallan Fine Oak:  10 Years Old, 15 Years, 17 Years, 21 Years Old, 30 Years Old; Lalique, Masters of Photography Collection  and Fine & Rare vintages.  For more information, please visitwww.themacallan.com
