FOAR and Best Friends Animal Society Team Up

From our friends at FOAR:

Many of you know that 2 years ago we helped launch an animal rescue group in New York City. Friends of Animal Rescue (FOAR) is a registered 501(c)(3) whose mission is to provide financial support to small groups and individual rescuers who so often must use their own money to pay for training, transportation and expensive veterinary care for the abandoned animals they save.

In less than 2 years we have raised close to $120,000 and have been able to help save over 150 animals. While this puts only a small dent in the more than 4 million pets that are euthanized in this country each year (that’s 11,000 per day/456 per hour/8 per minute), it is a start and we are very proud of our organization.

One of the organizations that have helped to fund FOAR is Best Friends Animal Society. Best Friends runs the largest no-kill shelter in the country, providing sanctuary to over 2,000 dogs, cats and other animals every day. You may have heard about this group as they were responsible for rehabilitating pit bulls freed from the Michael Vick dog-fighting compound. They had their own show on National Geographic called Dogtown.

Anyway, this year on September 26, Best Friends Animal Society is sponsoring a NYC fundraising walk called Strut Your Mutt. As one of the network charities chosen for this walk, all the money we raise goes directly to FOAR.

Would you consider sponsoring us or joining our pack? If our group raises the most money we will get massive amounts of publicity and hopefully more funding – but most of all – your money will go directly to the neediest cases.

You can check out some of the pets we have helped save on our website (www.foar.org). Please help create a world of no more homeless pets.
