NIGHTLIGHT: The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center hosted its 22nd Annual Preview Party for The International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show

At Whom You Know, we are critics.  But we are more than just critics.  We really care about the brands we write about, we care about the people, and we care about being charitable in general.  In Charitable Peachy, we have covered more cancer charities than any other kind of cause and this is so important to us as Peachy Deegan's grandmother, pictured to the right, died from cancer.  We covered this in her memory, and this is such a worthy cause that deserves your attention. On Thursday, October 21 2010, The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center hosted its 22nd Annual Preview Party for The International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show. Held at the Park Avenue Armory, the show featured many of the world’s most influential art and antique dealers in the U.S. and Europe. The event Co-Chairs were Melinda Blinken, Libby Fitzgerald of Highly Recommended Greyledge Farm (see Peachy's Pantry and Swifty's posts), Lisa McCarthy, Daisy Soros, and Michel Cox Witmer.  The Associate Collector Chairs were Kate Allen, Claudia Overstrom, and Elizabeth Pyne. The Connoisseur Chairman were Jamie Niven, Donna Rosen, and Kitty Sherrill.  Over 1,000 guests and leaders from the art, design and fashion worlds mingled amongst the sensational art and antiques, raising over $660,000 to benefit The Society’s patient care, research, and education initiatives at MSKCC.

Oh, what a night!  Last night at the Park Avenue Armory, we had an absolute ball at The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's Preview Party for the International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show!  Greeted by a smooth jazz quartet as we entered the armory, we were surrounded by glitz, glamor, art, and antiques!  This annual event is attended by over 1,000 guests, and all proceeds from the evening benefit the society's programs at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.  As we worked our way through the show, we were handed flutes of champagne and glasses of sparkling water, and we enjoyed sampling the hors d'oeuvres (our favorites were the adorable and delicious sliders)!  We enjoyed taking in the show, particularly the jewelry!  Sandra Cronin, of Abermarle Street, London, had a GORGEOUS diamond cocktail ring and Hancocks of London also had some beautiful pieces.  New York's own James Robinson had some lovely items as well, including a sparkling, multi-colored gemstone bracelet.  We will take one of each, thank you.

In addition to the jewelry, we also greatly enjoyed the illuminated manuscripts from Dr. Jorn Gunther Rare Books of Switzerland, and the antique arms and armor from Peter Finer of London.  The MacConnal-Mason Gallery of London had some exquisite paintings, including several Impressionist paintings over which we spent a good deal of time drooling!  Throughout the evening, good spirits abounded and the glamorous crowd seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.  Congratulations to the Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for a truly spectacular night!

The evening was sponsored by Giorgio Armani, with additional support from ELLE DECOR and 1stdibs.com and in kind donations from Bacardi USA, BearBoat Sonoma County Wine by Rémy Cointreau USA, Inc., Spring Mountain Vineyard and VOSS Artesian Water.
