With Post Number 940 in Product Alert We Celebrate Traversée du Bosphore with L'Artisan Parfumeur!!! And Peachy even Met the Fabulous Bertrand Duchaufour....

You'll remember since October 7th we've been incredibly excited about the new launch by L'Artisan Parfumeur, Traversée du Bosphore.  This exquisite concoction enveloped our senses and Peachy Deegan was pleased to meet perfume genius Bertrand Duchaufour recently to chat with him about this launch at Henri Bendel:

Bertrand was a delight to speak with as well as Celene and her amazing team!  We will have an exciting feature on him in upcoming posts, but for now we want to concentrate on Traversée du Bosphore.  L'Artisan Parfumeur consistently delivers the most original scents on the planet, and not only are they original, they surpass our expectations ranking them among the very best perfume companies.  They are among the best because perfume is their specialty; they aren't just a mass marketing machine behind a weak product that has slapped a celebrity name on it.  A lot of thought and meaning goes into their work, and it shows.  Or rather, it SMELLS.

Bertrand took a trip to Istanbul to capture the essence of what became Traversée du Bosphore!  It is one of the most complex scents we've ever encountered.  It has layers of spices that does remind you of what you might expect in that part of the world, and you feel as if you're on a magic carpet ride as you inhale the enticing scent that certainly will not match or imitate any others on your overcrowded perfume tray (...if it is like Peachy's.  Her silver perfume tray is from the Plaza Hotel liquidation sale.  She loves to polish it.)  You'll be transported far from Manhattan...maybe take Eloise with you she seems to be lost at the Plaza.

Amid a thousand splendid palaces, between Europe and Asia, tradition and modernity, an enthusiastic and adventurous traveller named L’Artisan Parfumeur invites you on a majestic crossing of the Bosphorus to discover breathtaking Istanbul.

A unique atmosphere emanates from the mysterious fascination of this paradoxical place, providing a rich source of inspiration for Betrand Duchaufour, one of L'Artisan Parfumeur’s talented “noses”.

Indelibly marked by its history yet always turned towards the future, enriched by a tumultuous past yet still contemporary and creative, Istanbul revels in its turbulent, energetic reputation. Bertrand Duchaufour returned from his journey there laden with watercolours, sketches, photographs and, above all, with Traversée du Bosphore. This eau de parfum is precise yet mysterious, offering the scent of a listless day spent exploring Istanbul and the memory of a spellbinding stroll taken at random through its narrow streets.

The crossing of the Bosphorus, from one bank to the other, is an experience best enjoyed at daybreak...
The men sit around in an endless, casual debate, the tobacco smoke rising lazily from their hookahs. The scent of hot juicy apples floats up into the air.
Gardens bursting with a thousand dazzling tulips exude green notes carrying a hint of saffron. The delicate fragrance of the saffron becomes almost overwhelming as the spice market draws near, blending deliciously with the aroma of leather that scorches the air around the tanneries.
It is easy to lose oneself wandering through this maze of tiny streets at random, escorted and intoxicated by the suave, soft perfume of Turkish Delight, oscillating between rose and pistachio. A swirl of gentle musk emanates from every unhurried step, which slow and become almost aimless as dusk approaches.

If losing oneself in Istanbul happens quickly, the desire to find one’s way again is slowly banished to oblivion…you are mesmerized by the scent of Traversée du Bosphore, and it is what Peachy Deegan is wearing!  Whom You Know Highly Recommends Traversée du Bosphore!  We love love love L'Artisan Parfumeur!
