Terrific Takeout: Al Forno!

Usually in any food review, we begin with the main meal.  However, in the case of Al Forno, the Chocolate Truffle was so excellent we're going to start with dessert. And it was a fine companion to the 2007 Quattro Canti by our friend Xavier:
The freshness and flavor of this truffle, not to mention the acute attention to detail (check out the drizzle and the cherry-not everyone pays this much attention to takeout) make the dessert alone reason to go to Al Forno.  But the pizza is just as good a reason:
Ingredients are among the most authentic we have found, and you should know that Al Forno is Italian for oven.  Every pizza is served with fresh homemade mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, fresh basil, imported grated cheese and extra version olive oil.  We highly recommend it, and Peachy Deegan added onions, peppers, mushrooms and pepperoni to hers.  Please keep the computer screen clean, readers because we see you salivating.
We balanced out our naughtiness with a fabulous Insalata Mista which was creatively arranged!  And they do bespoke salads and they follow directions-they held the olives and added some delightful mozzarella and roasted peppers-kind of reminds us of a firework and Katy Perry's song. Although Al Forno happened to open on 9/11/01, we have to say it is the best thing that happened to Manhattan that day.
Whom You Know highly recommends Al Forno for Takeout!
It was our first time there, and it won't be our last.
