We Inaugurate Amazing Accessories with the Creme de la Creme of Manhattan Prep: JMCLAUGHLIN!!!! The Swifty's Tie by J McLaughlin is All the Rage in Manhattan! It is an Amazing Accessory for Women and Peachy Deegan Wears it!!! All the Sharp Dressed Men have been wearing it since Fete de Swifty!!!

Modeled by Mover and Shaker Robert Caravaggi at Fete de Swifty
Mayor Bloomberg looks a bit envious,
maybe he'll get one this holiday season...Chris you need one too

Whenever your mother said you can't wear your food, you can now answer back telling her Peachy Deegan says it's ok, as long as you're eating Swifty's.  And why would you eat anything else?
The only thing as fabulous as eating at Swifty's
(where by the way you can drink the Peachy Deegan; it has Star Vodka in it!),
is WEARING SWIFTY'S!!!!
And why would you wear anything other than JMcLaughlin?

The JMcLaughlin story:

Brothers Jay and Kevin McLaughlin opened their first store 32 years ago at 74th Street and Third Avenue on New York's Upper East Side. From the moment the doors opened J.McLaughlin established itself as a classic American brand featuring a flair for bold colors and signature prints.

The McLaughlin brothers share a passion for classical design and historical architecture, and, in partnership with Doug Larson of Larson and Paul Architects, they have created a different J.McLaughlin storefront in each town. Located in friendly neighborhoods where shoppers can easily stroll, each store is designed to become woven into the fabric of each tight-knit community while maintaining the distinctive J.McLaughlin look. Inside and out, the stores are architecturally inspired by the community, evoking a vintage atmosphere, and invitingly decorated with fine woodwork, antiques and comfortable furniture upholstered in bright florals, soft tweeds, animal prints and other distinctive fabrics.

We love love love Swifty's and we love JMcLaughlin so we put two good things together to inaugurate our coverage of this iconic Manhattan prep brand.  And if you really know Peachy, you know ever since her days at Farmington she has worn ties, and not just for K-tel either.  You know JMcLaughlin just opened new stores incidentally across the street from Swifty's:
http://www.whomyouknow.com/2010/10/fashion-alert-preppy-retailer-j.html
The Swifty's tie by JMcLaughlin is 100% silk in a deep cornflower blue, in fact the shade you see on this font as Peachy holds up her tie to match the screen, with the iconic Swifty's dog in a black outline holding the red Swifty's spoon.  You know how the story goes from the restaurant review: Swifty's is named after the dog of Glenn Bernbaum who owned Mortimer's, which was the predecessor to Swifty's.  And Glenn named his dog after Irving Lazar, who was known as Swifty.
Now you can parade around town tastefully in support of two of Peachy's favorites:
JMcLaughlin and Swifty's!
The print is small and tasteful which is characteristic of JMcLauglin.
The Swifty's tie is all the rage in Manhattan right now and is a PERFECT gift for the holiday season.
Modeled by Jason Grant and Roger Webster at Fete de Swifty
So now you can not only eat at Swifty's and drink the Peachy Deegan there, but you can also wear Swifty's by JMcLauglin!!!!!  Whom You Know Highly Recommends the Swifty's tie by JMcLaughlin.
http://www.jmclaughlin.com/

Thank you Robert, Stephen, Kevin and Jack xoxoxoxo Peachy

An Update from our friends at Lime Rock Park! Ooooh Cruising Peachy Feels the Need for Speed!

Peachy Deegan love love loves Lime Rock Park and has been going to the races there for years.  And before she was born, her father and grandfather went for years and they still go and Grampy even used to chat with Paul Newman there...do you see the networking gene was passed along.

Our Friends at Lime Rock Park tell us:

We at Lime Rock Park were in the process of crafting an account of the happenings at the recent 28th Running of the Lime Rock Historic Festival and its companion event, the Sunday in the Park concours, when lo and behold, we discovered that the VRG, who had many members participating, had just finished putting together a really first-class chronicle (in PDF form) of the vintage racing portion of the Labor Day weekend event.
Both the words and photos indicate what a really good time was had by all, and the VRG have kindly allowed us to upload its Special Edition Newsletter to the Lime Rock website.
But we also wanted you to have a synopsis of the heady mix of beauty, fun, provenance, enthusiasm and sheer unadulterated automotive enjoyment of Sunday in the Park.
So we wrote a few words and chose a few photos, made a PDF and uploaded that, too.
It’s called “Post from the Park,” and it is Volume I, Issue 1 – yes, we plan on writing more vintage-specific newsletters – and we think between the two newsletters, you’ll find useful things to read and enjoy.
So, with no further ado, what we’ve sent to you are three links to the www.limerock.com website, where we uploaded the Newsletter PDFs. We hope you enjoy...

FASHION ALERT: Preppy Retailer J. McLaughlin Opens New Women’s and Men’s Stores in Manhattan!!! Whom You Know Highly Recommends JMcLaughlin and We Can't Wait to Feature Kevin as a Mover and Shaker, joining his neighbors from Swifty's Across the Street!

The name J. McLaughlin has come to define classic American sportswear featuring bold colors and signature prints.  Peachy Deegan has been wearing JMcLaughlin ever since she moved to Manhattan, including many years before Whom You Know existed and so we are thrilled to kick off our coverage of this iconic brand of prep.  This New York based recognized retail industry leader has opened two new stores on Manhattans Upper East Side. These shops join J. McLaughlin’s 44 locations nationwide providing purebred, premium quality clothing for those who enjoy season-less American sportswear.

The new women’s store is 1,950 square feet and located at 1004 Lexington Avenue and the new men’s store is 376 square feet and located at 1008 Lexington Avenue, both sitting on the same block between 72nd and 73rd streets.   This is just our inaugural coverage of JMcLaughlin and you can be confident it is indicative of great things to come.

“With the women’s store we want customers to feel like they are shopping inside a Park Avenue apartment, a place for socializing while shopping. We have plans to use the space as a salon to host events with notable New Yorkers,” says Jay McLaughlin, Chief Merchandising Officer of J. McLaughlin.  We think with a name like McLaughlin they must be Irish too so that's one more reason to love them.

J. McLaughlin’s resident architect Doug Larson of Larson and Paul Architects uses a blue, green and beige color scheme to decorate the space and placed bamboo furniture throughout the store to give it a signature McLaughlin touch.   We will soon kick off our first review of this fabulous brand, and it incorporates another brand we have come to know and love.

Just two doors away a new men’s location has also been unveiled. “The space feels like an exclusive men’s club with the windows blacked out and a painted gold Greek key border around the doors. Inside we’ve hung corduroy curtains, placed dark burl wood cabinets and accented with reds, camels and beiges,” says Doug Larson.

“This store is a real jewel box. We want it to be a place for men who know how to be comfortable to relax and browse. The proximity to the women’s store makes it easy for neighbors to go his and hers shopping on the same block,” says Steve Siegler, President and CEO of J. McLaughlin.

Brothers Kevin and Jay McLaughlin opened their first store 32 years ago, only one block away at 74th Street and Third Avenue on New York’s Upper East Side. Since that time the name J. McLaughlin has always had a presence in the neighborhood. Kevin McLaughlin, Chief Creative Director of J. McLaughlin says of the new locations, “Opening this store is like a homecoming, we have always had a connection to this extraordinary neighborhood and our move to Lexington Avenue reunites us with our loyal customers here.”

Sotheby's to Offer Major Painting by Titian - 27 January 2011

A monumental work by the Renaissance master Titian will be offered early next year in Sotheby’s sale of Important Old Master Paintings in New York on 27 January 2011. A Sacra Conversazione: The Madonna and Child with Saints Luke and Catherine of Alexandria is one of only a handful of multi-figured compositions by the 16th century artist remaining in private hands, and the most important to appear at auction since 1991. Painted circa 1560, it is a mature work executed when Titian was at the height of his powers. The artist had established his reputation as the leading artist of his time and was courted by monarchs and emperors over the course of his long careerHis profound use of color and innovation of both technique and subject matter have made him one of the most influential figures in the history of Western art.

A Sacra Conversazione: The Madonna and Child with Saints Luke and Catherine of Alexandria will be shown the public for the first time in more than 30 years beginning today in New York. Later this autumn, it will also be exhibited in Sotheby’s Paris, Amsterdam and London galleries. Demonstrating many of the hallmarks of Titian’s later works, the painting is estimated to sell for $15/20 million.

NIGHTLIGHT: Star Vodka Sponsors A Night Out Benefiting Safe Horizon in Support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month! And Peachy Deegan Discovers Once Again it's not who you know, it's Whom You Know

Last night, two universal truths were acknowledged.
1. Star Vodka is the best vodka that is
(we have known this since August 2009.  That's the Star Vodka team above)
2. Farmington rules the world
(as in Miss Porter's School; we have known this since birth)

Whom You Know was started on the premise that Peachy Deegan has been told she is an excellent networker, and pretty good writer.
Whom You Know as you know is named after her 10th grade English class at Miss Porter's, and Mr. McQuilkin has even become a Mover and Shaker:
So, at Miss Porter's she learned to write and at Boston College she learned Ever to Excel, so we write about excellence which is how we found Star Vodka because it is the best vodka in existence.  We would have never learned that in Farmington, so we moved to Manhattan.
The best vodka in existence brought us full circle last night because someone tapped Peachy Deegan on the shoulder and said: "Is that a Farmington ring you're wearing?"
Of course it was because Peachy has worn it every day since she earned enough brownie points to get it, and she was pleased to see Upcoming Mover and Shaker and CEO of Safe Horizon, Ariel Zwang at the event last night!  Ariel is MPS '81 and a Trustee and Peachy even had lunch with her a few years ago at school when she was on the Alumnae board.

What you should know about Safe Horizon:
Since 1978, Safe Horizon has provided support and advocacy for victims of crime and abuse. Today, as the largest victims' service agency in the United States, they are also recognized leaders in responding to the changing needs of clients, and they are sought out as experts on issues of violence and victimization across the country and around the world. Their dedicated staff responds to over 250,000 children, adults, and families each year, and their supporters help provide comprehensive services that help clients overcome crisis and restore their lives. Safe Horizon is at the forefront of the justice system and woven into the fabric of the communities they serve.

Their Mission

Safe Horizon's mission is to provide support, prevent violence, and promote justice for victims, their families and communities.

Who They Help

We know that violence and abuse can affect anyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, location, or background. Their programs and services are available to children, youth, women, men, and families facing crisis.

Get Your Nails Spooky for Halloween with Sinful Colors!

You know Peachy is not too keen on the whole goth look or anything that makes you look like a monster (normally), but since it is Halloween we bring you a special on some great Halloween nailpolish!  Our spooky stylist panelists say:

For those of us who are going all out with our Halloween costumes this year, don't forget to dress up your nails for the occasion too!  The Sinful Colors Get Haunted Collection is requisite to getting that full-on Halloween effect, or they're each standout colors in their own right.  In the Sinful Colors Professional line are: Courtney Orange (a pumpkin-ish, sparkly orange), Black on Black (it's pitch black, perfect for vampires), Irish Green (the monsters and ghouls need this), and Fiji (a frosty dark purple).  In the Sinful Colors Nail Art line are: Bad Chick (an opaque white), Time Off (a black shade), and Sunset (a bright, shimmery orange).  These polishes are easy to apply, the texture is light, and hence some colors may come out more translucent at first, but layering on an extra coat gets them more opaque and they really pop.  The Nail Art line comes with a very thin, long brush that makes it easy for drawing on extra designs over the regular polish in the Professional line.  I used mine to get a polka dot effect which would've been hard to do with a regular, wider brush.  Sinful Colors is widely available at major drug and mass market stores.  And at a price of just $1.99 each, you can get a few and really have fun with it!

I get my nails done about every week, and when it comes around to Halloween I love experimenting with playful colors. I got myself a collection of nail polish from Sinful Colors which is perfect for Halloween. I got 3 different colors in purple, black, and green. Along with that I also got the nail art set in white, black, and orange. The nail art is perfect for doing a "french" look or for other holiday related designs. Or simply to play around with cool colors and get in touch with your creative side. I especially love this set because I do my own nails often. I always look for cool colors to experiment with, and these were especially perfect for the season! They also go on streak free and stay on unlike some nail polishes I've tried before.

The Sinful Colors Get Haunted Collection,  4 Halloween inspired shades of nail enamel in Courtney Orange, Fiji (purple), Black on Black and Irish Green and 3 shades of Halloween themed nail art in Bad Chick (white), Time Off (black) and Sunset (orange) - all are available at major drug and mass market stores nationwide for $1.99 each, by calling 1-800-448-0763 or online at www.walgreens.com.
