Vancouver Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists were joined by Mover and Shaker Emmy-Award winning journalist Rita Cosby, Christie’s Deputy Director John Hays, and World Boxing Council number one heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek in an evening of entertainment to benefit the Next Generation of U.S. Olympians and Sochi, Russia 2014 hopefuls.

During the event, New Yorkers had a rare opportunity to mingle with Nordic Combined Gold and Silver medalist Billy Demong, Super G Bronze medalist Andrew Weibrecht, and aspiring Sochi 2014 athletes on a break from their rigorous training schedules. U.S. Ski Team member and North American Cup Champion Tommy Biesemeyer, U.S. Olympic Team Ski Jumpers Peter Frenette, Casey Colby, and Jay Rand also signed autographs and mingled with sports enthusiasts.
In 2010, New York’s premier ski program, the New York Ski Educational Foundation (“NYSEF”), sent seven athletes to the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. In an acknowledgement of the importance of NYSEF’s accomplishments to the State of New York, Rita Cosby endorsed the event and generously donated her time as Master of Ceremonies. John Hays and Tomasz Adamek rallied the crowd of over 200 sports enthusiasts to raise record-breaking proceeds for the organization.

Net proceeds from ticket sales and the auction were donated to the Endowment Fund, NYSEF scholarship and general funds.

Additional contributions can be made online at nysef.org/nyc.html.

In partnership with NYSEF, the Next Generation gala event was sponsored in part by Northwood School and the National Sports Academy at Lake Placid. Additional NYSEF sponsors included Ziggy Promotions, Transwestern Commercial Services, the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, Whiteface Mountain, CJS Sales, and the Black Rock Foundation.
