Peachy Picks Rino Trattoria

It's not who you know, it's Whom You Know!  And we are pleased to say we now know Frankie, owner of Rino Trattoria.
Rino Trattoria was first featured in Terrific Takeout and Tasty Tidbits:

The wonderful food, all made on premises, the warm atmosphere and the attention to detail by the owner make Rino Trattoria a great place for dinner when you find yourself in the vicinity of 8th avenue in midtown.
Frankie has excellent taste in wine and we sipped on a delicious Chianti from Palermo by Monte Maria that was a fabulous complement to our Italian fare, which also is all based on the area of Palermo.  Peachy Deegan began with the Gamberi Alla Cassa Bianca: Avocado salad, grilled shrimps, arugula, radicchio, and endive are mixed together in a crisp parmesan shell with thousand island dressing.  An exciting menu entry that is packed with flavor and zest, this is a highlight of Rino's creativity that sets it apart from other casual Italian places that have a tired menu that we do not talk about
.
Both Frankie and Executive Chef Isidro Vegas have been hard at work at Rino Trattoria for years.  Rino began in 1999 by Frankie's grandfather, Rino, who hailed from Palermo.  Frankie and Isidro have worked together at Rino Trattoria for the last ten years and we are impressed with both the quality and the variety they offer in such a small space...but after all, that is what Manhattan is all about: great things happening in small places!
We also like that they are superclean from what we saw and even put plastic wrap on top of their computer keyboard to protect it from spills.
Though she loved the chicken she had in Takeout, Peachy decided to try something new and opted for the veal sauteed in white wine topped with prosciutto, spinach and mozzarella.  The vegetables aside it were deliciously sauteed in garlic.  This is comfort food at its best and we see why Al Pacino is known to be a regular.  (We did not see him but that is what we hear.  Al if you are reading Peachy wants to tango with you at The Plaza, pretty please.)
The Tiramisu of Rino Trattoria is among the best we've had.
Creamy and delicious, every bit will absolutely melt in your mouth.
Joined by a piping hot cappuccino, dessert was great!  Your meal at Rino Trattoria will hit the spot and you will be able to take on the nightlife in Times Square just blocks away, or whatever suits your fancy.

Our esteemed panel adds:

I love going to see Broadway shows. The biggest problem I have is that I never know where to eat in the neighborhood. So many places are tourist traps! Finally, I have found a great restaurant to go to in the theatre district. Trattoria Rino is the perfect place to go for a meal before any Broadway show, or if you happen to be in the Hells Kitchen or Midtown West neighborhood. I started off my meal with the Portobello Alla Griglia. This appetizer dish consisted of marinated and grilled Portobello mushroom caps over spinach and topped with roasted peppers, fresh mozzarella, and a delicious butter sauce.
This appetizer was so fresh and tasty, I wondered how my main course could possibly compare. However, once I received my Tortellini Bolognese, I knew this meal would be a special one to remember. The homemade pasta was to die for. The sauce was so delicious, and the hearty meat made it extremely filling.
By the end of this meal I was so full and satisfied, I thought I could eat no more. Once the Tiramisu came out, I realized I would have to make some more room. This dessert was fantastic! I usually wouldn't order Tiramisu, but this one was so good, I could not stop eating it. It was phenomenal! A meal at Trattoria Rino is one that you will not forget. If you are looking for a superb meal before a show, or even if you are looking for a night of delicious dining, come to Trattoria Rino and you will not be disappointed!

When first stepping into Trattoria Rino I was immediately impressed by the friendly waitstaff and being able to see the owner, Frankie, right up front greeting the customers. Trattoria Rino went above and beyond your expected dining experience. From the friendly staff, to the amazing food, it was a place I know I'll be visiting again; and I know I can say that this is a place you wouldn't want to miss. Whether you're getting a bite to eat before a play, or just out on the town in the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, you need to stop into this place.
The antipasto Italiano Di Casa was a fabulous mixture of vegetables and cheese that melted in your mouth. Their entree, Polla Alla Sorrentina, was chicken sautéed with eggplant, prosciutto, and mozzarella in a white wine sauce.
Not only was the chicken and eggplant tender, but the combination of the saltiness of the prosciutto with the creaminess of the mozzarella made for excellent flavors to bite into. To finish off the meal, we had the tiramisu. I love any kind of dessert, but this tiramisu had to be on of the best desserts I've had in my life and the Moscato was brilliant as well. Tratorria Rino was an overall great experience and I loved every minute of the meal. If you're looking for a good place to eat with amazing fresh food, and wonderful staff, please make sure you stop in for a bite to eat...I promise you won't be sorry!
From the opening basket of bread until the end dessert, the dedication of the chef was prevalent in all aspects of the meal. With fresh ingredients for all courses it was easy to see why Trattoria Rino's stands out from other NY Italian dinning.
Starting out with the Calamari Fritti was the perfect introduction to fresh seafood from Rino's. The spicy calamari marinara sauce was a refreshing change from the usual and certainly offered a new perspective on an old favorite. A unique twist on another classic is the grape and peach chicken entree served with fresh vegetables.
The Pollo Alla Champagna was an astonishing blend of tastes creating a delicious and unique meal leaving the customer wondering why this hasn't been tried before. Rino's however, delivers in a superb fashion using actual French champagne as the base for their sauce. With an owner who dedicates himself just as much as the head chef, it's no wonder why Rino's has been in business for 15 years. Entree meals are perfect portion size, leaving even the hungriest of diners satisfied. Ending our meal with a house made tiramisu and delicious Monte Maria desert wine capped off an extraordinary evening leaving me in anticipation for my next visit to Rino's!
