Terrific Takeout: Uncle Nick's Restaurant

Situated on 9th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen, Uncle Nick's Restaurant is a star spot serving many delicious dishes that are just perfect for takeout.  Peachy Deegan began with a salad of course, and the Horiatiki was a beautiful deviation from the standard green salad as a Greek country salad.  Fresh and colorful, it was the perfect start to a wonderful experience.

As a starter, Tzatziki (yogurt, cucumber, and garlic dip) absolutely hit the spot with pita bread straight from the oven.  You know Peachy normally is a fan of big, fluffy bread but this pita bread she liked and you will too.  This dip can become addictive, we surmise, but have no fear Uncle Nick's has been in business for many years and they will make more!
Kebobs are very Greek, so we opted for the Chicken option.   The Kotopoulo Kebob (see, their menu offers the opportunity to learn a bit of Greek!) is breast of chicken marinated and skewered, with onions, tomatoes and peppers.  They were smart not to include the skewers; some lesser places keep in wooden sticks which is just a pain to take out...To us, this is Greek comfort food at its best and is perfect for any time of the year.
And you know we do not request dessert for takeout, but Uncle Nick's wanted us to try the Baklava and every bite was outstanding!  We will have to return for more and it is clear why they have been staples of the West side for many years.  Everything was so fresh, flavorful, ready on time, and presented with a positive, upbeat attitude!  Uncle Nick's Restaurant is Terrific Takeout!
