Peachy Picks EJ's Luncheonette

EJ's was first featured in Terrific Takeout:
and then graduated to Tasty Tidbits:
Today we are pleased to say it has graduated to Peachy's Picks.
Its effortless style, neighborhood popularity, and service with a smile will make you pick EJ's too.

You must begin with an egg cream and may we suggest CHOCOLATE.
LOVE IT!
Good egg creams are not easy to find in New York.
A fantastic start to a meal of comfort food that everyone flocks to - even if they are not lucky enough to be uppereastsiders!
Server Noreen O'Neill (a lovely Irish girl from LA!) is one of the most pleasant around and her acute attention to detail and sparkling personality will delight you and keep you coming back to EJ's.  You can tell she genuinely cares about doing a super job.
There she is with the french onion soup which is great for this chilly season now upon us.

The cheese and the onions were great!
Then it was time for the Baja Vegetable salad.
Have you had that before?! What a great name.
It contains guacamole, corn, blackbeans, jicama, tomatoes, cucumbers, tortilla strips, cilantro, mixed greens and cheddar cheese.  Chipotle Ranch dressing comes on the side.
And may we add, the bowl it comes in is quite fun:
This is a meal in itself and the size will surprise you.
Chef Peter Cole has been at EJ's for 19 years and came out to say hello and was perfectly pleasant.  Their specials change every night...and we are confident every night even the pickiest of eaters will be able to find something that suits them.
Peachy Deegan really liked the garlic bread served with the Fusilli Marinara with Shrimp:

Sauteed with Wild Mushrooms, Zucchini and Ricotta Cheese, it was a comforting combination.
Superamerican Peachy ordered exactly what you would expect next:
Apple pie a la mode!
It was even piping hot which made the ice cream melty and delicious!

Don't listen to just Peachy though!
Our esteemed panelist adds:
EJ's Luncheonette is the perfect place for comfort food that will fill you up and put a smile on your face! Their friendly staff will welcome you into a laid-back atmosphere where you will instantly be put at ease. And what better way to start off any meal than with a classic New York Chocolate Egg Cream? Delicious! For my appetizer, I ordered one of their mouth-watering salads. The Granny Smith Chopped Chicken Salad was absolutely delicious and much larger than I anticipated! The salad is full of roasted chicken, granny smith apples, bleu cheese, toasted pecans, golden raisins, tomatoes, and romaine lettuce. Then it is topped with a tasty balsamic vinaigrette!
This salad was a real winner! For my main course, I had a Turkey Dinner Special that made me think that Thanksgiving had come early this year! The soft and juicy slices of turkey made my mouth water! The stuffing underneath was delicious, and the mashed potatoes on the side were light, fluffy, and creamy.
It was all just as you would have expected from grandma! Finally, for dessert, I had to finish of with the Thanksgiving theme with a slice of pumpkin pie and whipped cream. I consider myself a connoisseur of fine pumpkin pie, and this one took the cake! It was the perfect blend of pumpkin and spice, and the crust was baked to a perfect crunch! All together this was a fantastic meal, and I look forward to my next trip back to EJ's! The food is great, and the staff was so friendly and nice! Not at all what you expect at the typical New York restaurant. Try EJ's out and see for yourself!
