READ THIS: Eloise Breaks Some Eggs by Margaret McNamara Illustrated by: Tammie Lyon / In the Style of: Kay Thompson and Hilary Knight

"No, no, no." A phrase often said in Eloise Breaks Some Eggs, an adorable Ready to Read book following everyone's favorite, smashing 6 year old! Nanny is onto a good idea when she decides that making eggs would be a great activity for Eloise. I mean how much trouble can she cause!?!? My daughter loves the ensuing mess. I know all little kiddos can relate to this one! Wouldn't it be nice if we could all ring up room service?!?!

I love to bake. I was so excited to see an Eloise book that involved baking. This was a topic many of my girls could relate to as well and I found several fighting over who got to read this book next. It always makes me happy when I see students excited about reading. I was flooded with baking stories and stories about what happened when eggs were broken to bake from my students. I encouraged them to write about it in their writers notebook. I am overjoyed that a group of Ready to Read Eloise books got my students so excited about reading, that they wanted to write as well.

Baking cookies and cupcakes is a weekly occurrence at our house. My daughter can read some of the ingredients on the back of the boxes. Eggs is one she knows for sure. So when Eloise goes for her cooking lesson and learns to cook eggs, you know this could be interesting. This Ready-to-Read book engages children with the great illustrations and large format words. Combined with the silly story this is a book that will help get them started!

Eloise Breaks Some Eggs is a very fun book for young children to read. This book is filled with a wonderful story that young children can learn to read with. Eloise brings life and adventure to their little world. I personally love the book. I think it has a great story and helps children learn to LOVE reading. As an adult I love seeing children oooh and awww over Eloise and her adventures. Makes them want to run out and read all of her books!

My four year old adored "Eloise Breaks Some Eggs" as he is very into baking. And breaking eggs! When Eloise learns she is going to have cooking lessons, she is less than thrilled. That is, until Nanny mentions that she loves to break things and she will get to break eggs! Nanny and Eloise take the elevator to the kitchen (Eloise presses every button!). The cook demonstrates how to break eggs and then asks Eloise to try. She does and what ensues is nothing short of a disaster. Eloise not only breaks eggs, she breaks dishes too (and most likely the cook's spirit as well!). Needless to say, the lesson is over. Nanny and Eloise take the elevator back to the tippy top of The Plaza (Eloise, of course, pushes all the buttons). When Nanny asks Eloise how she is going to eat as she will never be a cook, Eloise promptly picks up the phone and dials room service. Everyone's favorite precocious six year old has it all figured out!
