Peachy Picks The Earl's Court

The Earl's Court, located downtown at 90 John Street, is a combination of several smaller winning brands that work together to form one of the most versatile restaurants we've ever seen. It goes from day to night with ease and is one of the newest spots having been open only since Halloween last year.
You know we absolutely love The Earl of Sandwich in Midtown, and that prompted our visit to The Earl's Court. We really are not into chain restaurants at all, however, the English flair of the Earl of Sandwich is quite enticing.  These sandwiches are just killer and they need to open an upper east side location as we think it would do best in this neighborhood.  After trying each component, we feel that is the strongest brand in this umbrella, and it was well worth it to try the others too.  Peachy Deegan had never been to The Original Soupman before (one of the 8 brands in this combination), however, she found the Italian wedding soup quite good.  The meatballs in particular were commendable.
Her favorite soup in the world is Legal Seafood Clam Chowder which was found at Boston College on Fridays and in the press box on game day...and the oyster crackers reminded us of that.  This was a good way to start.
The next brand we tried was Greens, which we understand is California-based.
Peachy tried the Turkey Avocado, and felt the avocado and the greenery were the strongest components of this fresh symphony.
Sans-lid:
Peachy sipped on a Chateau St. Michelle Riesling which was crisp and fresh-we like this brand quite a lot.  She also tried the Blueberry Martini which was fun.

Of the 120 plus reviews we've done, exactly one was a sushi place...but we were happy to try the next brand: Sushi Express.  You have to be very careful when you order Sushi because we are adamant that it is fresh and we can say this certainly was.  Peachy tried the shrimp variety.
By The Earl of Sandwich, The original 1762 was just as good as the last time and every bite melted in Peachy's mouth: freshly roasted beef, sharp cheddar cheese and creamy horseradish sauce inbetween their fantastic grilled bread make this sandwich the piece de resistance of The Earl's Court.
The beef is divine and a carnivore's dream: thick and juicy you will be dreaming about it for days after and the cheese and horseradish simply complete it to perfection.
Peachy doesn't even like horseradish but she loves this.
Billy's Bakery does the cupcakes and we found them quite moist and delicious!
The Earl's Court also serves Lavazza coffee...they are open at the crack of dawn for breakfast and they smoothly transition into a lunch and afterwork spot.
Our esteemed panelist adds:
There is a brand new place downtown to get some really great food! The Earl's Court on John Street offers the delicious, warm and toasty sandwiches created by Earl of Sandwich, as well as a variety of other foods. The court is also home to Greens Salad Bar, Sushi Express, The Original SoupMan, and Billy's Bakery! There is even a full bar called Libations that offers top notch cocktails for Happy Hour and later into the evening. All of this is housed in a lovely open space with large windows and lighted trees. We were fortunate to get a taste of everything the Earl's Court had to offer. I started off my meal with the Tomato Basil soup, above. Even though this soup is low calorie, it was really high in flavor! The fresh tomatoes and basil made my mouth water. It was a perfect way to start off my meal.

Next, I tried the Cranberry Walnut Salad. This salad was packed with chicken, cranberries, walnuts, and swiss cheese on a a bed of fresh arugula and topped with balsamic vinaigrette. Even though I knew I had a lot more to eat, I couldn't help but finish off this salad.

The flavors came together so perfectly, I could not resist! Before I tried one of the famous sandwiches, I had to taste some of the sushi - and I'm glad I did! I had the Spicy Crab Roll.

The crab meat was so fresh and tasty and had just the right amount of spice. It wasn't overpowering but definitely full of flavor. Finally, we were served the main event! I had ordered the All American Sandwich. This sandwich consists of roasted turkey, buttermilk ranch, cranberries, sharp cheddar cheese, lettuce and Roma Tomatoes. I am not sure there are even words to describe how amazing this sandwich was. The bread was warm, toasty, and crisp on the outside, and in between those two slices was a taste of heaven. The ingredients work together perfectly to deliver a truly perfect sandwich that makes me salivate just thinking about it as I write this.

Everyone must try one of these sandwiches! After all the excitement of the sandwich, we finished off the meal with some brownies and cupcakes from Billy's Bakery. The brownies were moist and loaded with chocolate flavor- just the way I love them! We tried a red velvet cupcake, a banana cupcake, and a chocolate peanut butter cupcake. All three were excellent. We definitely finished the meal on an extremely high note! And all of this delicious food was accompanied by a fantastic Strawberry Mojito.

This drink was made with fresh strawberries, mint, rum, and club soda. It made a great pairing for pretty much anything on the menu! Overall, I highly recommend the Earl's Court. You can find pretty much anything you might be hungry (or thirsty) for, and you will not be disappointed with the quality!
