Terrific Takeout: Cafe 31

You know it is nearly NHL season and the Rangers will hopefully be having another winning year, so we've taken a stroll to the Madison Square Garden area to see how the takeout is, and we are impressed with Cafe 31, open as it is now since 1994.  Peachy Deegan started with a simple green salad which came with her salmon entree and it was fresh and delicious - a salad is a must for every meal.
You know who is the queen of crabcakes, and these are certainly fantastic!  They are very crabby, have a great texture and flavor that is much better than most sports bars.  Jumbo lump crabmeat are the magic words....and Paul the owner is a total peach.  Paul Vellios came to this exact restaurant in 1972 when it was a greek diner, and bought it in 1994 making it the terrific sports bar it is with his partner John.
The Atlantic Salmon filet was among the most inviting entrees, though there looked like there were quite a few!  Crusted in pistachio and beautifully garnished, this salmon bathed gracefully in a Amaretti di Saronno sauce- and was joined by some fantastic spinach.
Clearly, this is no ordinary sports bar, and we can't wait to go back and try it for a formal review.  Cafe 31 is Terrific Takeout!
