“I love the tart flavor, it’s like an exciting burst of lemon in your mouth.”
The Peachy's Pantry Panel raves:

Sometimes dinner just looks so plain and boring. Even when the taste is over the top, it doesn't always look that way. Everyone eats with their eyes before their stomachs, so presentation is extremely important. Now Fresh Origins has made the art of presentation a little easier and more interesting. Their edible Begonia Flowers will add color and pizazz to any meal. I sprinkled these flowers over some scallops I made, and I was amazed at how pretty my dish turned out. Their lovely pink color really makes any meal stand out. Changing a meal from boring to beautiful is as simple as opening up a package of these Begonias. No expert knowledge required, just sprinkle some over your dinner!
As a little girl, I always enjoyed looking at begonias. Their bright, vibrant colors always attracted me, and I just thought they were so pretty! So, imagine my surprise and my delight when I found out that they're actually edible! Fresh Origins, a family-run farm in CA, is the largest grower of microgreens and edible flowers in the United States, and I recently had the pleasure of sampling their edible begonias. The begonias arrived at the peak of freshness, in lovely pink and white shades. They almost looked too pretty to eat, but once I tried them, I was pleasantly surprised. They actually have a very strong flavor - tangy and slightly citrusy - which belies their soft, feminine appearance! They would be a fantastic addition to salads, as well as lovely (and tasty) decorations for cakes and other desserts! I added mine to a fresh fruit salad for extra tang and texture - and it was delicious!
It is not everyday that you can stop and smell the flowers and eat them too. That is why I love Fresh Origins. They offer a wide variety of microgreens and edible flowers. Yes, you heard me right: edible flowers. I love the idea of making my dinner plates look out of this world with beautiful flowers and the best part is you get to eat the flower too. Won't your dinner guest be impressed? I certainly think so. I love the pretty Begonia flower mix. The Begonias come in various colors and shades such as white, pink and red. These crispy flowers add a slight tang to your meal. How cool is that? It's time you experience Fresh Origins for yourself today.
Oh, this beauteous flower! They add to "even the smallest culinary creation". Use the pink and white begonias as a touch for beverages, in salads, as a garnish. All of the Fresh Origins blossoms are edible, and will enhance and refresh any dish. Carefully cultivated in sunny San Diego, they are available year round. The begonias add a lemon zest to your plate, so look for them on a fish dish, at your favorite seafood restaurant. I'd put them in a glass of freshly squeezed lemonade, or in my daily smoothie. In a salad, they're just what the bowl of greens needs for a step up the ladder to perfect. They are exclusively sold through distributors, so we can't pick them up in our local produce section. But keep the faith, as flower power might yet prevail!
I have never eaten a flower before. Well, there was an awkward incident with a Buttercup at age five. My mother held one under my chin and with a twinkle in her eye said: "If yellow color shows it means you like butter!" I took it from her fingers, ate it, and informed her it wasn't butter. When I bit into the Begonia Flower there was an instant burst of flavor. I could feel it in the back of my throat, and my saliva glands were stimulated. It felt like a sprinkler went off in my mouth! The taste reminded me of crab apples. I cooked them with the Heirloom Spinach in Light Olive Oil. Now the taste reminded me of beets. Not as strong as beets, just a hint of it. Since I've never eaten a Begonia Flower I wasn't sure about the stems. They seemed soft enough to be digested. I took the plunge. Same burst of flavor, but perhaps more like apple rinds than the tart crab apple? Eating these flowers gave me a sensory experience and a robust spicing for the cooked spinach.
