One of the oldest restaurants in Manhattan, Angelo's of Mulberry Street has been pursing excellence for over a century-since 1902 to be exact.  They even have a couple years on our friends at Geiger....
They are a modern classic and are currently run by a family that acquired it the same year family member Tina Aprea was born.  How cool is that to have your family commemorate your birth with a restaurant?  It may have been a coincidence, but regardless the Italian cuisine at Angelo's of Mulberry Street is standout and one not to miss.  It was first featured in Peachy's Picks earlier this year, and what can we say?  We missed it too much not to return to include it in our favorites list of where to go for Takeout as the chilliness comes over Manhattan.
Everyone knows salads are so important for good nutrition, and we always order a green salad. The one we opted for here is the Insalata Mediterranea composed of Mixed Greens, Diced Mozzarella, Tomatoes, Carrots, Chunks of Italian Tunafish and Corn. This is a unique combination that is hearty enough to be a meal in itself! Every component was fresh and delicious and the mozzarella is particularly to-die-for.
Mmmmm meatballs!  Just the aroma of these will have you flocking to Angelo's once you experience them.  The meatballs are authentically Italian and taste better than the best Italian place you've been to.  They will be equally delighted to see you and you can see them smiling above.    You will not want to share!
Pappardelle Campagnole is an incredible pasta course not to be ignored.  Homemade pasta with wild mushrooms, garlic and tomato team up to form a winner!  The portion is generous which you'll be thankful for the next day at lunch.  Not everyone can make pasta this superior and the chunks of mushroom are hearty and succulent.   Chicken parm, below, is something Peachy has always loved, particularly at the Boston College dining hall.  It is a long way to Chestnut Hill for dinner so we always look for top places that can produce this dish we dream of, and Angelo's of Mulberry Street is even better than the one we remember in college.  Perhaps our football team can take this hint from Peachy so they can beat Florida State next time....Angelo's is Terrific Takeout!  Tell Tina that Peachy sent you!
