There is nothing like coming in from the cold going into a place that is among the elite venues of Manhattan where they are happy to see you and know you so well that you don't even have to ask for coffee because they know you are on the tired side!  And of course, the coffee is strong and terrific at Table D'Hote.  Avid readers know that Table D'Hote is simply one of our most favorite restaurants, and Mover and Shaker Billy Knapp (click to read his interview)
is all about fine food done well.  By him!
We first went to Table D'Hote in 2012:
Table D'Hote was featured for their outdoor dining excellence this past summer as well:
You should also know their Halloween decor is the best:
We expect the hit parade to continue because Billy's commitment to excellence exceeds that of the vast majority of our encounters!
The hearty mixed greens at Table D'Hote is a winner of a salad.  You know they listen to Peachy here and that is why you see the dressing on the side...and she is super-tentative about most salad dressings because not all of them in the world make salad better.  The house-made Creamy Oregano Vinaigrette is so outstanding, not only did we dip our salad in it but the next time Peachy made salad herself, she used this dressing.  The salad is a must and we hope to be telling you more about salad Peachy makes from her pal Neil Milburn from Church Brothers.
A special of the night in appetizers that was pure bliss were the scallops, so delicately seared, so delicious!  The sauce composed of roasted celery root puree and black truffle vinaigrette will rock your tastebuds in tandem with these Peconic Bay scallops, also highlighted by amazing Long Island wild mushrooms.  This is an ideal example of creativity that is delicious and interesting with all flavors teaming up well.
A special during the winter at Table D'Hote is the swordfish steak grilled to perfection.  With fennel, carrots, onions, celery, white wine and chicken stock, this fish dish becomes a hearty choice for one of the best dinners you can have in New York right now.  We bet you might even see Santa eat here...
Table D'Hote is even better than Terrific Takeout!
