One of the most popular people in the Manhattan restaurant business is without a doubt our friend, Culinary King Sal Scognamillo.  He dominates our Mover and Shaker picture of the week column, and even his fish named Bella has started to have her own following.  However, although he's popular, it's more important to note that Sal is a genuinely nice person, and a tremendous chef!  As the story goes, his grandfather was Patsy...and the Scognamillo family is behind this restaurant as a team.
Whom You Know first featured Patsy's Italian restaurant in March 2009, fewer than two months after we started:
and it has been featured a number of times since.

Tony Danza gave him this nickname because he's the boss!
As an appetizer this visit, we opted for the delicate Clams Oreganata.  They are sourced from The Lobster Place and these great eight boast a sublime classic flavor.  Littleneck clams are stuffed with breadcrumbs, garlic, Parmigiano-Reggiano, oregano and fresh parsley.  The perfect amount of garlic adds a smashing accent to these wonders of the sea.  (P.S. Bella we promise not to eat you!)
Every review we prioritize a green salad, and the Chopped Salad at Patsy's is one of our favorites across the board.  We even trust Patsy's with salad dressing: they apply just the right amount to lightly dress it-not too much like most places.  This spectacular dish screaming nutrition on a plate has as party guests: iceberg, arugula, pimientos, tomatoes and anchovy.  All are perfectly sliced and diced.
We always feel there is no need to reinvent the classics!  In honor of Frank Sinatra's birthday, which is in December, we ordered his favorite as our pasta course: Spaghetti and Meatballs.  The gorgeous meatballs are veal and the meat is from Pat LaFrieda and their flavor is going to make you nearly break out in song to New York, New York.  Of course, the spirit of Sinatra is with you at every bite and these are absolutely delicious with the ideally al dente spaghetti.
Not every dinner earns this big of a smile!
One of the most delicious entrees in Manhattan is the signature Stuffed Pork Chop with Vinegar Peppers by Sal.  Stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto and oven-roasted with sauteed garlic and cherry and vinegar peppers, this generous portion of pork will absolutely wow you.  Also, the peppers are quite likely to put sudafed out of business with their tremendous kick!  The sauce is also laudable with its depth that is powerful yet not overwhelming.
And THIS LITTLE PIGGY went all the way home to Peachy's stomach and lived happily ever after.
Sal's Cassata Cake is the final firework of your culinary extravaganza if you are lucky!  Filled with cannoli cream, this sponge cake is further highlighted by toasted almonds and whipped cream.  It's simply a slice of heaven that tastes like it's blessed by Frank.
Gianni, Sal and Peachy.
Of course, Patsy's Italian Restaurant is Terrific Takeout!
Frank Sinatra we are still celebrating your 100th birthday!
Nancy thank you for following us on Twitter and we look forward to meeting you someday.
And P.S. remember how Whom You Know is named after Peachy's 10th grade English class taught by Mover and Shaker Rennie McQuilkin?  In that class, she did a term paper on Frank Sinatra.
