The Perfect Valentine's Day Gift For Her: Penhaligon's LP No. 9 for ladies! Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.

Top Nine Reasons LP No. 9 by Penhaligon's is the Perfect Gift for Valentine's Day For Her According to Whom You Know:
1. The scent is addictive; studies on Peachy Deegan show that once an hour almost keeps your addiction at bay
2. A great color!
3. Does Penhaligon's ever do something we haven't loved?  No!  We love it all so far
4. Isn't everything better from London?
5. The layers of scent are just right from the top notes of lavender and lemon down to the bottom notes of cedar and spice.  How nice!
6. A company over 135 years old must know what they're doing
7. Of everything they produce, this is the most appropriate for Valentine's Day
8. It's got that little stamp from the Duke of Edinburgh and another from the Prince of Wales;  we can't say we understand the full meaning of that as we're American but credentials are good
9. Other studies by Peachy Deegan, which we will not be telling you about in specifics, show that the opposite sex thinks this is fabulous!

Created in 1998, LP No. 9 for ladies is potent and addictive brew of sweet floral notes, spices and musk. It opens with a creamy accord of tarragon and lavender sharpened with a twist of lemon. The heart reveals the open sweetness of carnation wrapped in rich sensual base notes of cedar, spice & vanilla. The final effect is gorgeously soft and romantic, strange and beguiling.

Head notes: Lemon, Geranium, Bergamot, Tarragon and Lavender

Heart notes: Carnation, Rose and Jasmine

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Begins Regular Production at Oshawa Assembly Plant

Rick Hendrick and Dale Earnhardt Jr. today visited Oshawa Assembly Plant to mark the start of regular production for the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible, which will arrive at U.S. dealerships beginning in February.
Hendrick, a Camaro enthusiast who purchased the first 2010 Camaro coupe offered for sale, has now also purchased the first Camaro Convertible available to the public.  In both cases, Rick Hendrick acquired the purchase rights through Barrett-Jackson auctions, with all proceeds benefitting charitable causes.
“I grew up loving the Chevrolet brand, and I’ve never raced anything else,” Hendrick said.  “As a Chevy enthusiast, it’s been exciting to see the Camaro return as such a world-class, high-performance car.  The folks in Oshawa make some of the best products on the road, so the opportunity to meet them and thank them for what they do is a real privilege.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr., a driver for Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, was also present at the celebration and added, “Chevrolet has been a great partner on and off the track, and I’m very happy to be here on this special day.  While I still enjoy my 1972 Camaro, I can’t wait to take home one of these awesome new convertibles.”
The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible starts at $30,000, including destination, equipped with a 3.6L V-6 delivering 312 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque.  The Camaro Convertible SS starts at $37,500, including destination, equipped with a 6.2L V-8 delivering 426 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.

Pamela's Products' Simplebites Extreme Chocolate Mini Cookies Highly Recommended by Whom You Know!

The last of the products we recently tried by Pamela's Products were the Extreme Chocolate Mini Cookies!  Just fabulous.  We are total chocoholics at Whom You Know.  The panel reports:

Pamela's Extreme Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies are irresistable. Take a bite of one and you'll end up finishing the entire bag! I love these cookies. They are crispy and pack a punch of flavor. I love how my family loves the cookies and can't tell if they have wheat or not. My friends who have a wheat allergy they say these are the best cookies on the market. I personally love them and can't stop eating them!

I tried the chocolate chip mini cookies from Pamela Products before trying the extreme chocolate chip cookies.  These cookies were just as good.  For those people who love everything chocolate, these are the perfect gift.  These also make the perfect after school snack with a tall glass of cold milk.  These cookies were gone pretty quickly.  I can't wait until more show up on my doorstep!

Pamela's Products' Simplebites Extreme Chocolate Mini Cookies lives up to its name.  The chocolate taste is extreme and all this is packed into a small bite-sized cookie.  So much for gluten-free foods being blander and less tasty.  I find just 1 cookie satisfies my chocolate craving, so there's no over-snacking here to get the chocolate and cookie fix.  And for a nice twist, the packaging contains a recipe for turning these cookies into a chocolate cookie pie crust.

GM Launches New Syndicated TV Series, ‘Inside the Vault’

General Motors is teaming up with a variety of media partners to create a new TV series aimed at entertaining and informing today’s “classic” man.
“Inside the Vault,” which begins airing on WGN America and 18 Tribune broadcast affiliates this Friday (Feb. 4), will showcase stories, insights and conversation, providing a variety of perspectives on how men live today.
“New times call for new approaches,” said GM’s Global Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewanick.  “’Inside the Vault’ represents an exciting and different avenue for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac to connect with audiences and create an environment that is different from anything that’s being done in TV today.”
“Inside the Vault” will present a variety of topics relevant to men; episode themes will include gadgets, travel, fitness, food and sports. The series includes lifestyle segments from experts at Conde Nast, with automotive editorial provided by Source Interlink, the publisher behind Motor Trend magazine.
The 10-episode season is hosted by Cris Collinsworth, a former NFL wide receiver with the Cincinnati Bengals and an Emmy-winning television personality whose credits include  NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” and Showtime’s “Inside the NFL,” along with Alonzo Bodden of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and Jill Wagner, who currently co-hosts ABC’s “Wipeout.”
Telepictures Productions, a division of Warner Brothers, is another partner in this effort, which is being led by GM’s media agency of record, Starcom USA and content-creation agency LiquidThread.
“We want the audience to be able to watch ‘Inside the Vault’ anywhere and catch it at any time,” Ewanick said.  The series will appear online at www.insidethevault.tv, which launches on Thursday (Feb. 3).  Content will extend across Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Vimeo and Get Glue.
Syndicated television broadcasts will include commercials for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles.  The show will feature vehicles from these brands as part of its content, when relevant, but focuses on the viewer experience and omits “sponsored by” branding.
The 30-minute program will air on WGN America and on 18 Tribune affiliates including PIX11 New York; KTLA Los Angeles; WGN Chicago; WPHL Philadelphia; KDAF Dallas; WDCW Washington, D.C.; KIAH Houston; WKBD Detroit; KZJO Seattle; WSFL Miami; KTXL Sacramento; KRCW Portland; WXIN Indianapolis; KSWB San Diego; WTIC Hartford; WPMT Harrisburg; WXMI Grand Rapids, and WNOL New Orleans.  Check local listings for airings of upcoming episodes.

The Great Valentine's Day Dilemma

The Great Valentine’s Day Dilemma: What gift says it all, does it all, in one pretty package? Think fragrance, fragrance, fragrance. New York NY February 1st. 2011. The biggest gift-giving dilemma for most men is, without doubt, Valentine’s Day. Want to give sexy undies? Better be confident in the choice. How about a bouquet of red roses? Lovely but not long-lasting. Chocolates? Think of the calories. What’s a man to do?

“Lose the lingerie, cut the calories and think fragrance, fragrance, fragrance,” says Rochelle Bloom, President of The Fragrance Foundation. “One drop of fragrance can say it all, do it all. A gorgeous fragrance can make any woman feel sensual, pampered, sophisticated, cherished. Fragrance can instantly evoke a special time and place. A first kiss, a romantic evening, not to mention ever-lasting thoughts of the caring gift-giver. Even chocolate has found its way into fragrance so there is no style, size or calorie-inducing bloopers to worry about.”

No other Valentine’s memento can keep giving back day after day with a little dab here or spritz there. Thanks to the perfumer’s genius, there is a fragrance to suit every love, poured into exquisite, keepsake bottles. From classic to sassy, sexy to sophisticated, romantic to playful, it’s easy to find a fragrance that captures the heart. Just ask for a certified fragrance sales specialist at a favorite retail store. These trained experts can help pick the perfect scent, advises The Fragrance Foundation.

“Just describe a personality trait, a fashion style, a favorite celebrity or even a music preference and they will pinpoint ‘the’ one.” continues Mrs. Bloom. Getting acquainted with the language of fragrance can also make the choice easier. For example, rose, violet or lilac scents are considered “single” florals, while a floral “bouquet” is an intricate blend of several, delicately balanced flowers. Fragrances referred to as Spicy or Oriental are made from a complex blend of actual spice notes such as cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom, and other exotic ingredients including gourmand notes like chocolate. These are often considered sophisticated, mysterious, and uninhibited with a strong, erotic appeal. The total opposite: a green or citrusy fragrance with notes of freshly cut grass, orange or lemon zest also says sexy in a more lighthearted, playful style So unleash that inner passion, let the genie out of the bottle this Valentine’s Day with a gift of fragrance. It’s sure to bring a secret smile that lasts much longer than 24 hours.

Terrific Takeout: Vespa

Vespa is a terrific, hip Italian place on the Upper East side that has been around for years, and we don't want you to forget one tiny thing about it in both the wintertime and in the commotion that is called the second avenue subway by the MTA...so Peachy checked it out for the takeout column. We started with the Insalatina Mista-mixed greens, arugula, and tomatoes and they did put the dressing on the side, as requested.  So fresh, this was the angelic beginning to a wonderful meal.

It always is a smart thing to ask a restaurant what their specials are...and Peachy asked Vespa.  A special of the night was the wonderfully juicy Ribeye steak which was grilled just right to medium well, as requested.  Sometimes we like to be a bit tricky with restaurants of a certain genre and see if they can do entrees outside of their regular fare-of course Vespa is Italian so we wanted to see how good the steak was and we can verify that it was a good one!  The accompanying mushrooms and garlic made it a real winner.
The grand finale was a pear tarte.  This may be the first pear tarte we've ever reviewed and we love the imagination of Vespa for being original!
Gigi is a great manager and his wife has a great sense of style-her ipad case even matched her scarf and she was delightful to chat with.
Vespa is terrific takeout!

Of course you know Peachy has favorites.
Liz Smith noticed she's written about Swifty's a few hundred times, and the only thing Liz and Peachy had a small tif over was who was more in love with Swifty's.
Liz wins because she has been going there longer but Peachy aspires to love Swifty's as much as Liz some day.
Peachy's favorite person to see at Charity events, and Events at all is Jean Shafiroff.
Jean had the best dress at the French Heritage Gala:
Actually, she always has the best dress.
But did you know that Jean has an MBA from Columbia and is one smart cookie?
And she is one genuinely nice cookie too-if you are an avid reader you know Peachy had a fashion emergency at Jean's cocktail party and Jean saved the day:

SALON PEACHY EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Stylist Gabriele Vigorelli Chats with Peachy Deegan!

Stylist Gabriele Vigorelli understands that clients require more than simply a "hair style." Gabriele sees beauty as both physical and spiritual, and therefore a client's own beauty is found in this inner/outer harmony. Gabriele's radical approach to hair is to incorporate his training as both a stylist and yogi, providing a remarkably holistic experience.
For Gabriele, styling is all about communication, and a relaxed, dynamic exchange between stylist and client enables the vital creative process. This method allows Gabriele to tap into a client's energy in order to gain an uncanny perception of who they are and the image they wish to portray. By combining his technical expertise with his willingness to see each client as a unique and complete individual, Gabriele provides every client with a highly personalized and versatile cut that is not constrained to a single look.
Gabriele's freelance career began in Milan over 30 years ago and has taken him across the globe. A listing of his collaborations is testimony to his level of craftsmanship: American, French and Italian VogueHarper's BazaarElle, Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh, Steven Meisel, Versace, Valentino, Donna Karan and Jil Sander.
In the last decade, Gabriele has switched his focus to in-salon work, bringing his talent to John Freida and now Sharon Dorram Color at Sally Hershberger. It is here that Gabriele is able to fully realize his mission of making each client look and feel good, a "beauty clarified."
Peachy Deegan interviewed Gabriele Vigorelli for Whom You Know.
Peachy Deegan: You are one of the more philosophical stylists we've met, and that is a

good thing.  Please discuss your styling philosophies.
Gabriele Vigorelli:
When a client sits in my chair, they require more than simply a "hair style." I see beauty as both physical and spiritual;  a client's own beauty is found in this inner/outer harmony. I incorporate my training as both a stylist and yogi, providing a holistic experience.
Styling is all about communication and is vital to the creative process. This method allows me to tap into a client's energy in order to gain a perception of who they are and the image they wish to portray. By combining my technical expertise with a desire to see each client as a unique and complete individual, I provide every client with a highly personalized and versatile style that is not constrained to a single look.  I really love to make my client's feel and look sexy and beautiful.

anything creative... from making jewelry to cooking to painting and
drawing.. my passion stems from creative endeavors.

What do you think the best Italian restaurants are in New York and why?
Honestly, I cook fresh everyday and buy all my food from the organic

What are your favorite Italian shoe designers and what do you like
about them?
Prada has eclectic designs and fit really well.

Tell us a good story about Carol Brodie.  She has raved about you for
ages.
Every story about Carol is a good one because she creates great energy
around her.

We think Carol's jewelry line is just for women.  If she made one for
men what would you wear from it?
Carol makes unisex jewelry... I have a diamond cross bracelet on onyx
beads from her; actually   she has been getting a lot of press on these.
She just showed me a new line of "karma" bracelets for men. I would like her to also make a diamond buddah necklace.

What do you miss most about Italy?
The food; the art; the language; the color of the landscape; living in
the moment and enjoying the beauty of every day... it is the Italian
way.

What should Peachy Deegan add to her Italian vocabulary?  Something
about hairstyling?
I miei capelli sono bellissimi  [English translation: My Hair is Beautiful!]

What or who has had the most influence on your pursuit of excellence?
My parents showed me unconditional love and with that feeling I have
been able to achieve whatever I have set my heart on.

What are you proudest of and why?
I am most proud that I can live each day with purity, honesty and
integrity.

What would you like to do professionally that you have not yet had the
opportunity to do?
Teach yoga

Central Park in the spring with the blooming trees and flowers.

What is your favorite shop in Manhattan?
Barney's for fashion and the organic market in Union Square for food

What is your favorite Manhattan book?
I read about philosophy; in Manhattan I like to pour through art books

be and why?
A healing center for children... there are too many children in
Manhattan who are suffering.

What has been your best Manhattan athletic experience?
Yoga at Ishta Yoga

What is your favorite thing to do in Manhattan that you can do nowhere
else?
Go to the Metropolitan Museum

What has been your best Manhattan art or music experience?
The Dalai Lama in Central Park

What do you personally do or what have you done to give back to the
world?
I emotionally, creatively and financially support those less fortunate.

What do you think is most underrated and overrated here?
Spirituality is highly underrated; restaurants are overrated.

Other than Salon Peachy of course, what is your favorite Whom You Know
column and what do you like about it?
They are all good because I always find out something new.

What else should Whom You Know readers know about you?
I am extremely private and you already know quite a bit.
