MOVERS AND SHAKERS: Designer Keith Lissner!!!

This Chicago native has been steeped in high fashion from a young age, exposed to couture in his family’s boutique. Knowing early on that he was destined to design, Keith Lissner interned at Moschino Cheap and Chic while studying womenswear at the London College of Fashion. Upon graduation, Lissner turned his attention to menswear, designing at Perry Ellis for several years before moving to Ralph Lauren.

However, Lissner’s strong creative pull to womenswear reemerged, and calling upon his entrepreneurial roots he chose to branch out on his own to design a collection of women’s demi-couture designer eveningwear. Keith Lissner brings his extensive industry experience to bear in his eponymous collection, which is available internationally at a selection of fine stores including Neiman Marcus, Helen Yi, Susan Lee, Pixie and Ivy, and Penelope.

Sourcing fabrics and trim of the highest quality Lissner creates dresses that are beautifully crafted from the inside out. His attention to detail is evident in the couture techniques utilized from strap to hem, such as inner corsetry to create the most flattering shape, French seams rather than machine-finished edges, and adding horsehair to the hem of a garment for structure. Each season Lissner finds a point of inspiration as varied as the Greek legend of Icarus, the history of the Royal Ballet and the punk legends of the 1970’s. But ultimately the collection is defined by his youthful interpretation of “timeless style” and a passionate dedication to craftsmanship.

Based in New York, Lissner’s collection has captured the attention of the city’s young social set, and his dresses are regularly worn out-and-about by some of New York’s most effervescent young ladies. Lissner’s gowns are also frequently worn by a mix of accomplished performers, including Emmy Rossum, Taryn Manning, Janet Jackson and Natasha Beddingfield. These strong, talented artists typify the Keith Lissner woman; feminine, unique, and exuding a great sense of self. Peachy Deegan attended his show at the Essex House recently and noticed that clearly this designer is a Mover and Shaker!
