Tasty Tidbits: Butterfield 8

Butterfield 8 is a 100-year-old, 3000 square foot space with a dramatic crown mold ceiling that evokes the nostalgic turn-of-the-century feel of the classy New York speakeasy. A 40-foot granite bar equipped with nine clear vision plasma flat screens blends with the wide plank walnut floors. Back lit walls of white onyx and dark mahogany along with five massive chandeliers creates a warm semi-formal setting. Serving what can best be described as “Upscale American Comfort Food,” Butterfield 8 has filled the void between fine dining and the corner pub. In 2006, Butterfield 8 was voted “Best Bar in East Midtown” by NY Magazine.

Conveniently located within walking distance of both Penn Station and Grand Central Station, Butterfield 8 is the perfect gathering post for both Manhattan residents and out-of-town guests.
