Big Apple Business: Hotel Elysée

Built in the 1920's, the Hotel Elysée in New York City is named for one of the finest French Restaurants of that era. Once a playground for the rich and eccentric, the Hotel Elysée has also been home to movie stars, artists, writers and intellectuals. Luxurious yet intimate, the Hotel Elysée in midtown Manhattan is an oasis of luxury, elegance and peace close to the vibrant heart of New York City. With its premier location in Manhattan the Hotel Elysée is the perfect destination for exploring the best of New York City. The timeless style of classic “Old New York” sets the stage for an unforgettable experience in one of Manhattan’s most desirable neighborhoods. Situated on East 54th Street between Madison and Park Avenues, the Hotel Elysée is in the midst of some of the most elegant shopping, dining and cultural experiences in New York City. With the romantic ambiance and gracious service of a private country inn, the Hotel Elysée is consistently acclaimed as one of New York City’s best loved hotels.

History
We love love love history at Whom You Know!  The Swiss-born Max Haering originally conceived the Elysée in 1926 as a European-style hotel for the carriage trade. The concept of the hotel was to offer that same “discreet and uncompromising” personalized service. After the owner’s Mayer Quain’s death, his children eclectically designed each room so that no two were alike, each has its own unique and whimsical personality. In lieu of traditional numbers, the rooms were named to reflect their individual theme.

Location
Standing mid-block on East 54th Street, between Madison and Park Avenues, the Hotel Elysée’s low-key graciousness could be the explanation for its popularity among writers.  Could Peachy Deegan be one of them?  The Hotel Elysée offers guests perhaps the most outstanding and desirable location in New York City; situated on 54th Street, the Elysée is within walking distance of some of the world’s best shopping, countless mid-town corporate headquarters, cultural attractions (such as the Museum of Modern Art) and many of the most popular restaurants in Manhattan.

Public Areas
In addition to offering one of the most convenient midtown addresses for Manhattan business travelers, the Hotel Elysée provides a refined business environment with a wealth of amenities and services to give business travelers the hotel convenience they need. Far beyond an ordinary hotel, the Hotel Elysée’s private clubroom provides travelers with a convenient place for one on one informal meetings throughout the day. Very unique for Manhattan New York hotels, the Hotel Elysee caters to the business traveler with very accommodating amenities and services. For a more formal meeting for up to eight guests, the Hotel Elysée has an intimate conference room adjacent to the club room.

Accommodations
The Hotel Elysée is unlike any of the other luxury hotels in midtown Manhattan offering unique accommodations while lodging in New York City.
