Camille as a Mover and Shaker:

Whom You Know was honored to cover Sing For Hope's 2010 Gala last night, October 14, 2010 held at 583 Park!  We began working with Sing For Hope a year ago when we covered their gala:
Even Jane Fonda liked our coverage enough to put it on her website:
So we hope we don't disappoint anyone this year! This is an amazing organization founded by opera singers with a desire to lift their voices for social change, Sing for Hope is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that mobilizes more than 700 professional artists – from classical musicians to photographers to Broadway performers – in volunteer service programs that benefit schools, hospitals, and communities.

Whom You Know is not about Peachy Deegan, but everything we cover reflects her philosophies; she started singing at 18 months.  We've covered many Charities since the inception of Whom You Know, and we think this is one of the best.  Earlier today we posted part of the finale in video, "When You Wish Upon a Star:"
From the cocktail hour to that very last song, this was an event not to miss. Sing For Hope is truly dedicated to their cause and to delivering a quality gala. The gala raised awareness and support for Sing for Hope’s programs that mobilize professional artists in volunteer service to benefit schools, hospitals and communities. The event also raised funds for the 2011 return of Sing for Hope Street Pianos, a public art installation that brought 60 upright pianos to the streets of New York this past summer, and embodies Sing for Hope’s mission of making art available to all.
Tony Bennett
The speakers were outstanding, from Tony Bennett to Joel Klein, who introduced Mr. Bennett.  Klein stated in his introduction: "[Michael Bloomberg told me that if I do my job for eight years, I can introduce Tony Bennett!]"  Each of them grew up in Astoria...Tony Bennett spoke of how the Frank Sinatra school was dedicated and how seven more are anticipated.  Bennett said: "The Arts Will Save Our Planet...Love is the Answer, Not Greed, Not Hate, Not Bigotry but Love."  Bennett signed the Steinway that was auctioned off by C. Hugh Hildesley of Sotheby's, who was a delight to chat with during cocktail hour.  Joseph Flom did not let humor escape the night as he highlighted how happy he is that he married a younger woman with a driver's license.

"What Sing for Hope does is wonderfully simple.  It maintains a roster of compassionate, world-class artists who donate time and talent to the humanitarian causes that inspire them."
-Dr. Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Sing for Hope Board Member
Each Sing for Hope project is defined by the needs of the community, the generosity of professional artists, and our belief in the transformative power of the performing arts.  Normally we don't bring up gift bags as that is tacky; however, we want to point out that this organization is so thoughtful right down to the gift bags that contained items of meaning, including a print of the Winged Piano created by Sing for Hope Donor Artist Ruggero Vanni.

Thank you Chris
