Peachy Picks Sandro's

Sandro's is a fine Italian place on the Upper East side that you all need to know about, and above is Sandro himself.  He is as superfriendly as he looks!

We love a place that has their own plates!
Sandro's was first featured in Tasty Tidbits:

And we are pleased to say it has joined the ranks of Peachy's Picks.

The outstanding hospitality exuded by every member of the staff: Sandro, Christian, Vincenzo and everyone we don't know by name, the lovely cuisine, the crisp clean tables, and the welcoming atmosphere make Sandro's a winner.  Even Italian people come here themselves...Peachy knows this because she met Sandro through one of her Italian friends.  You know Peachy is not Italian but she eats like one and loves the shoes they make over there...
We began with some crunchy bruschetta and jalepenos that started us off with a kick.

Next we tried some tuna, scallions and onions...just delightful and fantastically fresh!
Peachy Deegan began with something traditional: mozzarella di bufala
It was exactly what you would expect this dish to be at a fine Italian establishment and every bite melted in Peachy's mouth.
Though Peachy saw many delectable options gracing Sandro's menu, she was in the mood for meat and thus ordered the Tagliata Di Manzo Con Funghi Trifolati: that is, sliced steak with sauteed mushrooms for those of you that don't speak Italian!  Every bite was tender and juicy and Sandro proved to Peachy that this is more than a place that does just ordinary Italian.  Sandro's talent range is vast and so is the attention to detail there: Peachy ordered it medium and it came that way, perfectly.
Simply awesome.  We hope we are all killing you at lunchtime and enticing you to make your dinner reservation now!  And if you don't think that life is a bowl of cherries, you are going to the wrong place.
Because life is literally a bowl of cherries at Sandro's.
They surprised us with these and Sandro must know how Peachy loves sayings like this...
The cherries continued with Peachy's dessert of Pesca Melba, a special of the night!
Peaches and vanilla gelato were delightful with the cherries and cream, and served with grappa with hints of peach as well, it was one big hit with you know who!
Don't listen to just Peachy though; our esteemed panel comments:

The white crispy clean and cozy interior plus the welcoming service makes you forget that you are in NYC and you feel as if you've been transported to Rome, Italy.  The owner and Chef Sandro Fioriti himself is wonderfully hospitable and the food is the most authentic I’ve had outside Rome. We were served a Chardonnay that boasted an impressive fresh fruit flavor, leaving a lasting palate impression. Before we ordered he brought us a “special made” Tuna Salad with potatoes onions and the best olive oil …..Delicious!
I start my meal with his classic appetizer Carciofi alla Romana - crispy fried artichokes, shown above. No one in town cooks artichokes like Sandro! For main course the grilled Wild Salmon a special of the day, salmon in a bed of rucula salad was much more then ever expected, absolutely amazing!
For dessert my favorite as Sandro suggested The Mix Berries in a Balsamic reduction and Gelato was to die for!
At the end of the meal we were served Peach Grappa and “out of this world” fresh Baked Cookies that was still warm from the oven. Sandro worked through the dinning hall quite a few times asking everybody if the food was ok and the service was fairly quick and attentive. The perfect place for a great Italian meal!
My dinner at Sandros was simple but elegant. I began with a chicken liver and balsamic vingear appetizer, shown above, with red cabbage on the side which was amazingly good. The contrast in flavors tantalized the tongue. My main course was roast veal with chanterelles. The veal was sliced thin and very tender.
On top there was a profusion of delectable mushrooms. For dessert I had a pistaccio mousse which was light but very flavor intense. Delicious! For wine, we had a house blend recommended by the chef which we all enjoyed. All in all, a splendid meal.
