Peachy Picks Bistro Citron Sponsored by Parisian Luxury Lingerie Label Les Jupons De Tess

Parisian Luxury Lingerie Label Les Jupons De Tess (http://www.lesjuponsdetess.com) is taking the United States to a higher level of quality lingerie that previously was yet to be discovered beyond the borders of Paris. The 2011-2012 collection remains true to the four-year-old brand with its exceptional pieces, expressing the luxury and coquettish style of women in the 18th century with class and distinction. Created by master designer Caroline Tannous, Les Jupons De Tess boasts lustrous fabrics such as silk crepe and French “leavers” lace, as well as new additions such as revamped leopard print, and you know animal prints are cutting edge this fall. It is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know:
The styles available are: underwired bras, halter neck triangle bras, smocked cotton bra tops, camisoles, slip sets, thongs, briefs, shorts, full briefs, corsets, suspender belts, and "soft" basques.  Chosen as a “coup de cÅ“ur” label by Chantal Thomass and Christine Walter-Bonini, Director of the prestigious ESMOD fashion school, at the salon de la lingerie in January 2009, Les Jupons de Tess is clearly a very promising young label whose new collection we absolutely adore!

If you thought all Bistros were created equally, think again!

Bistro Citron is the exact opposite of a car when a car is a lemon: you see, when a BISTRO is a LEMON, it means it is MAGNIFIQUE! From the moment we walked in and were graciously greeted by Leo the manager to the moment we first ate something-the fantastic bread (...followed by the fantastic seafood, the fantastic wine, the fantastic dessert....you get the picture), Bistro Citron was the pinnacle of an amazing experience and its neighborhood crowd knows it. There was hardly an empty table, and you know what that means: make your reservation now.

Earlier Bistro Citron was featured in Tasty Tidbits: http://www.whomyouknow.com/2012/01/tasty-tidbits-bistro-citron.html
and we are pleased to announce it has joined the ranks of Peachy's Picks.

The place setting is beautiful-we thought we'd point that out because aesthetics are so important to set the tone. And look, they even have a chandelier! That is always high, literally and figuratively, on Peachy's list.

A little closer!

Greater than the chandeliers of course is the personnel. Executive Chef Jerry Katzenberger is genuinely talented and cordial as well. Before each course he answered every single one of Peachy's questions with a smile and we were thrilled with his work:

Peachy Deegan began with the Moules Provencales: Tomato, garlic and basil gracing a party of mussels!  The flavor was succulent and not overly spicy with just the right kick.  They were piping hot and we just adored the large copper globe they came in which made them even more fun to eat.  You can see the copper around the rim.
And here is a close up:
You can see how present the marinara is!
The neighborhood crowd was jovial without being loud or obnoxious and you can tell this is a place that ooozes class and style without any pretense.  Next, Peachy was pleased to meet the Fricassee de St Jacques et Gambas: pan seared scallops and shrimps, served with leeks, corn, oyster, mushrooms and potatoes, in a truffle cream sauce.  This was absolute heaven, or paradis, ciel en francais!  Every bite was tender and delicious and the combination is both unique and also beckons to better days at the sea, in contrast to January.
Leo attended to our every need and was the consummate professional all night.  It makes all the difference when the personnel is on the ball!
If you know Peachy you know she absolutely love love loves haricots verts!
That is green beans to you non-francophiles!
They were sauteed perfectly and were deliciously crispy.
The grand finale was the Clafoutis Aux Myrtilles: blueberry tart, blueberry sorbet and blueberry coulis (sauce) which paired splendidly with the smashing Bordeaux Peachy Deegan was sipping all night-Chateau Grimard, highly recommended.
We also sampled the Floating Island:
Our esteemed panelist adds:
Bistro Citron, located on Columbus Ave between 82nd and 83rd Street is clearly a neighborhood favorite, and for good reason! Authentically designed in the style of a French bistro, the restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere which is not only due to the decor! The staff is very welcoming and jovial, which made me feel right at home and happy to be there! I started off with an appetizer, which is one I have never tried before, but had heard of and was very curious to try.

I had the Terrine de Foie Gras de Canard, which is Duck Foie Gras terrine, brioche toast, fig relish and Sauterne jelly. I am telling you, without a doubt, that this was one of the greatest appetizers I've ever eaten. The creaminess of the Foie Gras, combined with the sweetness of the fig and jelly and crunch of the toast was absolutely perfect! I am going to be dreaming about this dish for days to come.

For my main entree I had the Steak Frites, which was steak served with French fries and a Bearnaise sauce. This dish paired really well with the glass of Pinot Noir I was enjoying! The steak was thick, juicy and full of flavor! The Bearnaise sauce was so nice and creamy. I loved dipping the steak and the french fries into it, it was so delicious! For dessert I enjoyed the warm chocolate cake with hazelnut ice cream, which came as a suggestion from our wonderful server. She did not steer me wrong! The ooey, gooey chocolate cake was exactly what I would expect from a great French Restaurant! It was rich with chocolate flavor, and such a comforting dessert that was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. I had such a great experience at Bistro Citron between the excellent food, the dedicated team of staff running the restaurant and the patrons in the neighborhood that filled the restaurant as if it were Saturday night! I can't wait to dine again soon at Bistro Citron with all of my friends and family so that they can have a similar dining experience!
