Red Harrington, just WHERE do you get those boots?  We simply must have them.  Da da da dunt da da dunt dunt dunt our review begins so put on the William Tell Overture while you read this review.  The Lone Ranger is a staple of American childhood, no matter what your age because if you weren't there for the original, your dad or perhaps your grandfather was watching it a second time with you.  Disney has returned this classic to its glory, and it is done in a stellar Big Bang Boom fashion with the thesis being legendary justice.  You are going to love it.  And, for the record the first movie Peachy Deegan ever saw in her life was a Disney movie-Herbie and the Love Bug. (NOT at its release-she definitely was not around in the late 60's.)  If you've been to Disney World, this is Frontierland in the movies and we are going to go Hoop-De-Doo on you.  (Peachy's dad once played Davy Crockett's Indian...)  Watching this movie is the next best thing to Thunder Mountain.
It opens in San Francisco in 1933.  We take in a broken Golden Gate bridge, and the cinematography that is characteristically flawless by Disney draws the viewer into the fair's ferris wheel, a red balloon and a young cowboy named Danny, who befriends an exhibit.  Then, we're immediately transported back to Colby, Texas in 1869.  The exhibit is Johnny Depp playing Tonto, the starring role:
We didn't have an opinion on Johnny Depp until he emerged as Jack Sparrow, pirate extraordinaire.  Every Pirates of the Caribbean movie we have loved, and he's our favorite in them.  Fond childhood memories of watching The Lone Ranger with her dad and Johnny in the Jack role made us want to see The Lone Ranger, and it exceeded our expectations.  If you loved Pirates, you will love this.  EVERYONE loved Pirates of the Caribbean.
Never take off the mask.
Helena Bonham Carter, an actress who has won us over many times and also worked well with Depp in Alice in Wonderland and was absolutely flawless in The King's Speech, plays Red Harrington (see boot opening comment!) with sass and authority while we befriend The Lone Ranger himself John Reid, (played by Armie Hammer) who we're seeing for the first time personally:
Yes, it's Hammer time.
We also meet Ruth Wilson, who plays devoted Rebecca Reid.  She gives all women something to cheer about with her pioneering spirit and laudable role as a mother.  Though with a different style, Rebecca has spunk equal to Red's.
So why do you want to see The Lone Ranger?
Let us count the peachy aspects of this hot flick:
You'll find out the value of this badge, and just what it means:
(note that Ranger this time does not mean the New York hockey kind!)
You'll be working on the railroad, and experience patriotism through the settling of the West and the expansion of the Market Revolution, a very exciting time in American History says the girl with a BA in it from Boston College!  Maybe New York should hire this crew to finish off the Second Avenue subway-they certainly seem industrious and we are tired of waiting.
You'll develop a softer side for intelligent animals, namely horses.

You'll have new innovative ideas for how to catch up with the bus or subway that you've just missed in Manhattan.

You'll see that friendship is what really matters at the end of the day.

Parts of the thrilling action will make you realize your day was NOT that bad.

You'll be convinced that the impossible is indeed quite possible.

And hi ho Silver, you'll be cheering the whole way.

The sounds were fantastic, the footage was incredible and we like the attention to detail with textures and shapes though we would have liked a broader color spectrum.  The depth of field we found most praiseworthy, camera people!  If you are a fellow Eastcoaster, you'll see very, very flat land in parts.  If you are a horse, you'll be elucidated on how to drink out of a bottle.  You'll be transported far from Manhattan, and feel like the subway you hop onto at the conclusion of the movie is way too tame for you after the trains you'll see.  Encounter adventure, experience protagonists versus antagonists, feel part of Stars and Stripes Forever which you should note is used with historical accuracy, and be at the theater in a matter of hours for this release.
