It's been time to hibernate in Manhattan!  The cold this January has been unprecedented, and we don't blame you if you are doing takeout from our favorite restaurants because that is in fact what Peachy Deegan has been doing!  We always want people to visit New York but the truth is, it's just starting to warm up now just in time for the Superbowl thank goodness.  When the windchill factors in at less than zero F and that is Fahrenheit for the non-Americans reading, the elements here can be something to contend with.  Tortellini en Brodo, above, is the perfect remedy for subzero Manhattan by our pal William of Via Emilia, which was previously featured last spring:
Read that for the history of the logo and more about Modena, Italy!
You will absolutely adore the homemade parmesean, pork and prosciutto dumplings in ham broth.  They were so hearty and delicious and put lesser soups to shame because of William's brilliant skills and quality ingredients used.  We also ordered an Insalata Mista of Radicchio and Tomatoes which was fresh and perfect to start with as well.  Do not forget to add your greens in the winter!  They smartly did not put dressing on it, as instructed.  Olive Oil and Vinegar was added in their own containers to the side that did not spill: perfect!

Of course some homemade pasta is in order to bring you winter comfort.  This was so stellar!  William decided to add this course as well as the dessert and all we have to say is good thing he did because they were even better than what Peachy picked out herself!  Handmade Tagliatelli with meat sauce is a simple concept executed to perfection.  This is what Peyton Manning should be eating before Kickoff on Sunday.
As an entree, Peachy opted for the Insalata di Gamberetti.  Just perfect!  The symphony of Arugula, Hearts of Palm, Shaved Parmesean, and the star of the show, Grilled Shrimp brushed with olive oil and garlic was succulent and absolutely delicious. Coconut Key Lime Tiramisu came to William in a dream!  That makes sense since it also tastes like a dream.  Light, fluffy and boasting texture that is straight from heaven, it is a must and one of the best desserts we've had in a long time.  Many venues try to be overly creative with their desserts when really, less is more.  Peachy doesn't even like coconut, but she likes it here.  Ladyfingers rest in coconut vanilla tea and coconut rum!  You will die for this.   Of course, Via Emilia is Terrific Takeout!!!!!!
