Washington's got a new coach in town:
Normally, we are singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, however, the Winter Classic is a relatively new phenomenon that the NHL has been working on over the past few years that you also should be excited about.  The Winter Classic has been featured in Mover and Shaker Russ Cohen's book "The Winter Classic" which we previously reviewed here.  This is of course required reading before the puck drops in Washington for this game, and now that we began working with EPIX, we've got to say this series is required watching!  We commend the NHL on their "casting" in this year's series as you know we love Chicago and Washington.  The Epix Road to the NHL Winter Classic just began this week and new episodes will debut weekly.

Previously on Whom You Know, Jonathan, Alex and Kevin were interviewed.
They will all be participating in this upcoming game!
Chicago Blackhawks
Jonathan Towes
Washington Capitals
Alex Ovechkin

Kevin Dineen, Peachy's favorite player of all time.
Peachy wearing her Blackhawks hat on the roof of The Met this past summer after Joel:
picked Kevin to help him coach. On the back of the hat is a Whalers patch with an arrow pointing towards it saying: "Strategy By".
Playing hockey well is not an easy skillset to possess, if you are unfamiliar.  Just like everyone thinks that Fred Astaire is the greatest dancer and then when they consider Ginger Rogers did all he did, but BACKWARDS, in hockey when you compare their offensive and defensive strategies and play just remember they are athletes that do it all on SKATES.  And of course they skate backwards too.

Epix does an epic job of showing exactly how much preparation goes into the game of hockey, and they go in-depth with both teams equally to show what their lives are like from practice to pre-game dinners and even include what happens to you when you might get a concussion.
The players tell you their stories, which is definitely an aspect we love.  Did you know Patrick Kane is #88 because that's the year he was born?  The cinematography is excellent particularly in Washington when monuments are captured like the Jefferson Memorial; we loved the camera shot of looking across the tidal basin and you'll recall we published a lot of cherry blossom pictures from that vantage point from this past spring.
For anyone that likes to be inspired whether or not you know if you like hockey, you'll find this coverage fascinating as Epix goes deep to cover the humanity of the people behind the game.  Locker room banter and pep talks as well as strategy sessions were of great interest.
Epix does not miss a beat, even covering people who sing the national anthem.  (Did your read on our friend Mover and Shaker Ashley Tucker?  She sings it in Boston.  Once Peachy sang with her group in Hartford a long time ago.)
We loved hearing the mics on the coaches on the bench during real game play.  The technological aspects add incredible depth to the game for fans today.  Marketing today is superlative compared to what it was like decades ago.
Ups, downs and momentum shifts during games covered are captured in appropriate detail and get you even more excited for the drop of the puck in the Winter Classic.
You'll find out who acquires two shiners in one month...and just how they all live.
Sharpie is more than a magic marker you'll learn!
