"In the Pink" a Two Act Play by Peachy Deegan; Act One: "The Lament of Peachy's Pink Bags" To Be Starring: Hallak Cleaners the Couture Cleaner

"In the Pink"
Act One: "The Lament of Peachy's Pink Bags"

Starring in the Act One:
Little Pink Bag

Big Pink Bag:

Red Valentino Dress:

Setting: Back Closet Shelf of Peachy Deegan's closet

Little Pink Bag: Oh Big Pink Bag. Are our glory days over? I am so sad to be relegated to the back of the closet now that I have been bumped into by half of Manhattan on the subway because Peachy's so short. You would think people would see me since I am bright pink....

Big Pink Bag: Silly Little Pink Bag. You have to remember that we aren't in Connecticut anymore; sometimes in New York, people walk straight into each other. In fact, it just happened to Peachy last week when she went to a grocery store that was not as nice as Whole Foods (that has not happened to her there.) They need to remember that is not the best for care of leather! I am even bigger than you and the same thing happens to me. All of my corners are tattered and I feel straight out of a Dickens novel.

Little Pink Bag: Peachy could never replace us. We are so emotionally connected! We are from Barney's after all, and we match. And we are a glorious color, muted hot pink. And we had such fun together! The shopping trips! The dinners! Jaunts all around the city....and we were faithful, carrying ALL her stuff.

Big Pink Bag: Quite correct. I am big enough to carry her shoes too because you know the Paul Mayer Attitudes refuse to see dirt or dust; they are inside shoes (and their light pink carrying bag is in the right color family for us). And, we are made in Italy. Whenever Peachy shops for new bags there is often a tag that warns "Made in X," where X is not in Italy or even Europe, and the past bags she's had from X have had very short lives and the leather seemingly resembles something plastic. It's horrifying.

LPB: What are we to do to be good-looking again?
Could we go to a Park Avenue Plastic Surgeon?

BPB: I already looked into that. They don't do leather. We're just stuck. Doomed, even.

(Doorbell rings. Enter Red Valentino Dress.)

Red Valentino Dress: What is that racket I hear in the back of the closet? I do not care for idle chatter, only class and sophistication and intelligent words.

LPB and BPB: Wow, Red Valentino Dress. You look fantastic!

RVD: But of course, dahlings. I just came from Hallak. What did you expect? I look even better than I did on the rack when Peachy bought me. What happened to you?

LPB and BPB: Life happened to us. What do you think we should do?

RVD: Well, I hear Hallak Cleaners the Couture Cleaner also does bags...maybe you should take a trip there and see if you can be helped?

Stay tuned for Act Two! Little Pink Bag and Big Pink Bag are at Spa Hallak...

Little Pink Bag and Big Pink Bag before they visit Hallak.

They just happen to be the same great pink color as Hallak pink; they were bought years before Peachy met John-Claude...
