The most thrilling saga we've seen by HBO continues: The Jinx!  Usually we are blown away by their documentaries in one episode; with this fifth episode, we are growing goosebumps we didn't know we had before.  The thought, execution and sequencing of this series by HBO is simply phenomenal.

Previously on Whom You Know, we recommended Chapters 1 & 2 of this series:

and Chapter 3:

and Chapter 4:

The documentary series by the place that does documentaries best, HBO (we've told you for years!) has another winner on their hands. Did you see the two Oscar winners we reviewed by them?
Read:

This fifth episode opens with quips from Jon Stewart and the press's disbelief on Robert Durst's acquittal.
However, the real focus of Chapter Five of The Jinx is an aspect of Robert Durst's life that everyone can relate to: families.  Sibling rivalry and domino effects of tragedy that has had lifelong implications even for those that did not know Kathie Durst are distressing.  Lack of closure is particularly unnerving for Kathie's niece, who bears a striking resemblance to her.

Douglas Durst, Robert's little brother and the family patriarch, says his brand has not suffered by Robert's publicity; concurrently, he admits he does have a bodyguard to protect himself.  Robert worked for The Durst Organization from 1974 to 1992, and Robert and Andrew visit the current day company but are solidly turned away by security, who have a "D" emblazoned on their uniform, for Durst of course.

The Jinx has got jaw-dropping footage and spot-on narration, and HBO presents every single fact they can gather so you can form your own opinion on what happened.

In terms of production, the shooting sparks effectively show the explosiveness of the presented situations during the theme song.  The yellow highlights on documentation show the inconsistencies in the story recollection well.  We found Andrew Jarecki's commitment to do the best job possible on this series highly commendable, right down to tracking Douglas Durst down at a Charity Gala at The Plaza hotel's ballroom, documenting it all on camera.
