First, listen to John!
This post is dedicated to Peachy's late friend, Connie Hays.
Connie wrote the most comprehensive history of the Coca-Cola Company ever, and you should all buy and read her book:
This book was published in 2004, five years before Whom You Know began and talks about Lexington Candy Shop on pages 216-219.
Connie told Peachy she had to go to Lexington Candy Shop to try a Coke float, and so we did back then. Lexington Candy Shop was officially featured in Terrific Takeout in 2012:
and also earlier this year in Peachy's Picks:
A wonderful bowl of chicken noodle soup absolutely hits the spot, especially since it's their 90th anniversary and they've been celebrating all year!  This delightful spot is New York's last surviving luncheonette: they serve sandwiches, breakfast and more but not dinners or entrees-a luncheonette is lighter than a diner.
We commend the Lexington Candy Shop on their salad selection, and this visit Peachy Deegan opted for the Shrimp salad, which also comes with cole slaw and potato salad: a lovely trio!  Attractively arranged, this is a wonderful dish year-round.
See that shrimp smiling at you!
Their rye bread is just perfect, and you should definitely go in that direction for bread choice. With about a dozen clubs to choose from, we were most excited about the Roast Beef, Swiss Cheese and Bacon variety which was simply smashing!  This is one generous sandwich and they added just a touch of mayo as we asked.  Every bite reminded us of why this place has endured and excelled for 90 years!
Every time we've visited John Philis, we've tried the Coke Float.  This time we decided to mix it up and go for the Root Beer Float, which was just as spectacular!
Barq's root beer is used, and that is part of the Coca-Cola soda family. You will delight in every sip and experience true happiness in life when you are taken back in time...they have not updated their charming decor since 1948!
Everyone that's anyone has been here, and you'll see on the wall.
Lexington Candy Shop continues to be Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.
We can't wait for their 100th Anniversary!
