Salon Peachy: Mover and Shaker Julien Farel's Julien Farel Restore Salon and Spa Continues to Be Highly Recommended for Haircolor by Whom You Know! Bravo Julien and Advanced Colorist Lila Carlino Who Created Blonde Highlights with Cool Tones on Peachy Deegan!

Manhattan is many great things, but for the most part, it is not greatly relaxing. On our third visit to the Julien Farel Restore Salon and Spa, it is clicking how well that word restore was chosen as part of the name because it is one of the most relaxing venues you can visit and still be in Manhattan. With plants on the windowsills that look alive and kicking and decorated in relaxing beige properly punctuated with a splash of orange, The Julien Farel Restore Salon and Spa most notably in their decor added the brilliance of Mover and Shaker Bil Donovan, whom we met at Dior in 2008 prior to Whom You Know's existence. We met Julien and his wife Suelyn years ago when we started Whom You Know, and were happy to interview each of them quite early on:

and Suelyn, as a Mover and Shaker:
Everyone at The Julien Farel Restore Salon and Spa is welcoming right from when you are helped to your robe, then a drink and finally to your chair.  We were delighted to meet Lila's assistant, Olganna Forona who is perfectly pleasant.

It's always important to have a discussion about your color goals with your colorist prior to color execution, and Lila is incredibly approachable.  This is the second time we've worked with her.  "For you today we're going to do a cool brown base," Lila concluded.  "We'll add some brighter slightly warmer highlights.  We're using Inoa Light Ash Brown 7.1."  Avid readers know that for as long as she has been coloring her hair, Peachy has had nightmares of ever being red or reddish and in fact would even prefer to be gray (not that she's that gray.)  There is not a single strand of reddish as you can see from above; you knew Lila is an advanced colorist.  "Your highlights are going to be a soft blonde.  Not too many; just sunkisses.  We are using Wella Bleach Lightener with Cool Tones for 15 minutes."

Lila is the blonde specialist at The Julien Farel Restore Salon and Spa.  "Julien loves baby blondes and I've been able to get that down pat.  Baby blonde is when a baby is in the sun and their hair turns to that whitish blonde color.  It's more white than yellow and there is definitely no red, however, when one does this it's important to achieve contrast." Lila is great at such contrast and knows to leave the natural color and just do accent highlights.  The contrast makes the blonde look whiter than it actually is.  Lila says:
"I enjoy all color but especially blonde!"

"Rich browns and burgundies are on-trend for haircolor for Fall 2016," Lila tells us.  "For blondes: golden blondes."

Though maybe you should never say never, we will venture to say that Peachy would never permanently color her hair a color of the rainbow that you'd find in a crayon box.  We asked Lila what most surprises her in color; she said: "Lavender!  It's a muted grayish-purple.  It's something crazy.  It does make your hair purple but the good thing about the lavender is that when it fades it just fades to blond."  Many brands make this but we understand Pravana is the best one for lavender.

Finally, Adrian Marcovecchio expertly blew dry Peachy's hair at the conclusion and of our three visits so far, this was the best blow dry.  He's talented.
Raise your glass to Lila and her fiance on their upcoming wedding and George Clooney if you are reading we hope you say hi and congratulate them on their honeymoon!
Whom You Know Highly Recommends Julien Farel's Lila for Haircolor and Highlights!
