Da Tommaso is simply one of the most hopping Italian venues on the west side in midtown, and every visit reconfirms this standing!  Owner Paul Da Tommaso is a total peach and his packed venue is testament to the warmth and hospitality people experience there plus the absolutely delicious cuisine.  Especially the Tortellini Gratinata.  Peachy experiences separation anxiety from this dish and will go how ever many miles on the elliptical it takes to compensate in calories.
Da Tommaso was first featured in 2012:
It was most recently featured in 2015:
This visit, we began with the Bresaola a Modo Mio, which boasts tremendous flavor and is sliced just right in terms of thinness, giving this starter elegance.  The fine slices are expertly air-dried and the lemon and evoo are added in exactly the right proportion to accentuate the fabulous flavor.  By the way we're publishing at dinner time to torture you!
Meet the Paesana: mixed chopped salad which arrives in style radiating endive.  Note we trust Da Tommaso so much we let them dress the salad because we have the utmost confidence in their abilities and know we are actually going to love the salad dressing, which almost never happens.  Diced tomato, mozzarella, lettuce, chic peas, olives and red onions are amazing. The chopped quality is just perfect and every bite of this nutritious wonder reminded us why salad can be delicious when it is done by the right people!
Words do not begin to address the way we feel about Tortellini Gratinata.  We dream about this exact dish.  It is the best part of our day when we order it, and sometimes the best part of our week, and sometimes the best part of our month.  Peachy Deegan really does try to be really cool doing these reviews with a straight face with a 99% success rate- but this dish certainly puts her over the edge.  The table that sat next to her this time observed her interaction with the Tortellini Gratinata and three people from that table ordered it after witnessing the majestic tortellini meet her lips.  Actions speak louder than words.  Baked in a cream parmesean, these little wonders of pasta are simply among the very best pasta dishes one could possibly eat in Manhattan.  Every bite is heaven on earth and the quadruple threat to your diet is composed of:
Parmesan!
Gorgonzola!
Pecorino!
Bel Paese!
Pure ecstasy.
Order it.
A succulent pesce selection at Da Tommaso is the Salmon Modomio: salmon sauteed with prosciutto, mushrooms, sherry wine and cream.  It is divine perfection!  The salmon does a backstroke in the fragrant, delicate sauce that is both satisfying and light concurrently: an unusual feat!  Broccoli and potato come to the party appropriately.  It is important to know that Da Tommaso takes requests if you have a dish you have your little heart set on!
Da Tommaso is uber-popular with the theater crowd and near curtain time there is not an empty table.  Next, meet the Chicken Rollatini stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese.
It knows that Dancing with the Stars is on tonight so it is doing its waltz in a lovely marsala wine mushroom sauce.  It's a classic executed so well, and the spinach adds color and nutrition.  The portion is generous so know you should come here hungry!
Da Tommaso is an excellent place to visit if you like dessert!
The tray tells you this is an established venue with a superlative history and commitment to the fine tradition of dining right.  We don't order dessert everywhere but we do here!
The classic tiramisu is creamy divinity in every bite!
Some places wonder what is the difference between being really fantastic and being truly phenomenal?  The truly phenomenal have so many steps up their ladder for our tastebuds to climb we are simply blown away.
The literal difference here is the Irish Coffee, which you'd better believe we love!
A final firework!
Although he is Italian we think maybe Paul Da Tommaso is a little bit Irish too.
Da Tomasso continues to be Highly Recommended!
