#ASimpleFavor #MovietimeinManhattan #AnnaKendrickRocks A SIMPLE FAVOR @ASimpleFavor by @LIONSGATE Highly Recommended by #WhomYouKnow Brilliantly Dark Psychological Thriller! BRAVO ANNA! @AnnaKendrick47 @BlakeLively @rupertfriend @HenryGolding Released In the USA September 14, 2018

Anna and Blake knocked one out of the park, and our favorite movie new to us this year is "A Simple Favor" by Lionsgate opening on September 14th in the USA!
Opening with savoir faire via music in French and divine pink shoes, A Simple Favor draws you in immediately and is highly creative throughout, and concurrently, super original.  We feel like a lot of tired, "safe" ideas are getting recycled in the entertainment industry and we applaud this team for their daring which results in your delight.  In their total innovation creatively, the team behind this proves itself both cohesive and unforgettable.
“Secrets are like margarine: easy to spread, bad for the heart.” -Stephanie
Anything boys can do, girls can do better and starting with the killer script, killer in more ways than one, A Simple Favor evidences that girls from Connecticut rule, even when they are fictional and on the big screen.  You must think so in real life if you're reading Whom You Know!  Rampant with twists and turns and phenomenally strong but not straightforward female leads, A Simple Favor triumphs with its masterfully crafted characters with multiple layers that play out the plot with unprecedented brio.  Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) is a down-to-earth mommy vlogger complete with socks from Target (say Tar-jay) while Emily (Blake Lively) is dead-on serious playing a horrific fashion pr person (and in many cases, we will tell you they can be that way in real life.  Blake studied them well!).  They meet when their sons are in school together, and the rest becomes history.  Don't try to guess what happens next as the story evolves, because inevitably, you will be wrong.  Watch!
If Liam Neeson was half his size and a woman wearing espadrilles, he'd be half as amazing as Anna Kendrick in A Simple Favor even at his best.
We didn't think it got better than Liam, who killed it in The Commuter, which we did not formally review.

You will undoubtedly fall in love with the scope of Emily's closet, especially if you live in Manhattan and note that it is actually the size of your apartment.  We also recognized we have the exact same Nespresso machine that Emily has in her kitchen in our personal caffeinated arsenal.
“This is a genre-bending story that has big comedy, a murder mystery, twists, turns and surprises.  Stephanie is definitely one of the most optimistic characters I’ve ever played, but she also has a lot of blinders on—and those blinders get peeled off the hard way starting from the moment Emily disappears, which is part of the fun,” Kendrick says.   The girl known for "Cups" is a pretty mean rapper as well, and if you don't think it's hip to be square, just ask John le Carre!  (and maybe take french too so you get it...)
Previously on Whom You Know, Kendrick earned accolades for
The Accountant
We did read her book and loved it; it has not yet been made available to us for formal review by the publisher.
“A Simple Favor reminded me of some of my favorite films from the past, the ones where you don’t know what’s going to happen up until the LAST minute,” says Blake Lively.  “I love Laura, Gaslight, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, All About Eve ... A Simple Favor pays homage to those hyper stylized, thrilling films with a tense storyline and characters who are purposely a bit over the top.”

She continues, “We have different iterations of ourselves that we put out into the world—our social media 'personality' versus who we are at home, who we are at home vs who we are at work, etc. In this film, I think there’s an interesting examination of that— who we are vs who we present ourselves to be. Women are nurtured to strive to maintain a certain level of perfection, whether outward or inward, but we are all imperfect and that’s a conversation that’s much more awesome to me than perfection. Exposing true selves is something the characters ultimately do in this film. And you love them all the more for it.”

You've never met a parent QUITE like Emily.  We must admit that it looked like she made an enchanted martini, and the most recent braggable one we've had was Steve Haxi's idea...see more here or better yet just meet him at the bar.  It's authentically pineapple.  We're looking forward to the day when you can press a button and have what they're having on the movie while you watch the movie.

The chemistry between Kendrick and Lively is superlative.  All actors involved were impressive, and we think Stephanie and Emily were cast perfectly, however we would have chosen Rupert Friend, whom we were incredibly impressed with in Homeland, to have been Emily's husband Sean.  Instead, Friend is cast as Emily's boss, the Tom-Ford-like designer and he's a stunner in that role also.  Jean Smart is fabulous as a role we won't disclose since we want the plot to surprise you; originally we adored her work in Designing WomenRosanna Scotto has a lovely cameo.

As the story evolves, we will tell you that Stephanie becomes quite inspiring in her vlog; let us know: should we start Tombstone Tributes here?!  We do have Whom We Miss.

Don't be sorry for anything, ever, but you WILL BE SORRY if you don't see this flick pronto.

Go to the theater, and knock twice.

A Simple Favor is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know!
