READ THIS: Confessions of a Window Dresser by Simon Doonan

All Manhattanites know how to appreciate a well-done window display, but do they ever think about how it got to be that way? Peachy Deegan, in her ever-present curiosity, has thought about this so she consulted Simon Doonan's autobiographical work on this topic. After working for the legendary Diana Vreeland at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume institute, Mr. Doonan has been the creative director of Barney's New York since 1986.

Window dressing really can be a career! Although it is not necessarily one with specific prerequisites and a corporate ladder, in this work Doonan explores the wide world of imagination through the looking glass...it goes SO far beyond the clothes, and as Doonan remarks, it is all about creating desire in the person passing by.

Windows can be shocking, they can be sweet, but they all evoke something in everyone whether consciously or subconsciously.

Read this book and you will gain introspection into the works of art that greet you everyday.
