TASTY TIDBITS: Langan's, Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The theme Linger at Langan's came about several years ago because so many people would arrive for five o'clock cocktails and the free hot hors d'oeuvres; they would get so caught up in the Langan's fun and fellowship, they would stay for dinner. It's still true, people who come to Langan's tend to linger because Langan's has it all. It's warm, friendly and fun, with wonderful menus at moderate prices.

Located in the swirling, bustling heart of Times Square, Langan's offers a recession busting Comfort Menu, a la carte selections for lunch and dinner, bar bites, cocktails, ice cold drafts, an extensive wine list and wonderful martinis for every taste. Langan's pre-theatre prix fixe meal is one of the best bargains on Broadway, and the Saturday night jazz and their famous Sunday Jazz Brunch are very popular.

Langan's is on West 47th street, minutes from wherever you want to go. Pay a visit, you'll enjoy yourself says Peachy Deegan of Whom You Know, who recently chatted with Bob Fane of Langan's.

I spoke with Des and he remembered a few...Bill Murray saying "absolutely no autographs, until I'm served a drink"; Alex Baldwin's scowling fiercely when he was jokingly greeted as Jack Ryan; Barbara Bush admonishing Des when he treated her to a complimentary lunch; Meryl Streep came in for lunch one day, then returned later for dinner, got a bit jarred (an Irish phase for over imbibing) and suddenly disappeared; while Mickey Dolenz was playing Broadway, he was a Langan's regular, calling the place his good luck charm; Bill O'Reilly has called Langan's his favorite place in New York for its straightforward and prompt service; and many legendary stories of Steve Dunleavy (New York Post) exploits began at the Langan's bar.

What is the most popular item on the menu?
Crab cakes have been a Langan's specialty for years, a secret Irish recipe.
