MOVERS AND SHAKERS: Chrishell Stause, Actress

Chrishell Stause is from Draffenville, Kentucky and graduated from Murray State University where she studied theatre. She landed the feisty role of Amanda Dillon on ABC’s Emmy winning daytime drama, All My Children, in April of 2005.

In addition to her busy schedule on All My Children, Chrishell was added as the new spokesperson for the Proactiv campaign, joining the ranks with such names as Jessica Simpson, Vanessa Williams, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Kelly Clarkson. In 2008, Chrishelle appeared in the feature film, Scaring the Fish with Anthony Rapp and Chance Pinnell and also starred as Madison in the web series Luke 11:17, eight episodes airing on Youtube and Vimeo.com that Wes Craven endorsed as a “must see for Halloween.”

In the summer of 2008, Chrishell hosted You Rock, Let’s Roll on Fuse, which matched musicians and their fans on a date to see if there was any compatibility for love. Chrishell could also be seen in the pages of December’s Elle magazine at the Style 360 fashion show and on EXTRA this fall when she and her fellow cast mates of All My Children’s Fusion cosmetics gave one lucky fan a Fusion makeover. She also appeared on Rachel Ray and The View.

Chrishell was named Best Dressed by Soap Opera Weekly in its November 2008 issue. In 2009 the plot will thicken for Chrishell’s character of Amanda Dillon and fans will get to see even more of Chrishell when she stars in the film, Sometimes, a dark, quirky love story that will begin shooting in the spring (www.sometimesthemovie.com).

Chrishell also finds time to give back through many charities around the area. She made her Broadway debut in February of 2007 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. Chrishell along with other female soap stars brought down the house with their rendition of Chicago's 'Cell Block Tango' and all for a great cause. Her favorite charity is Starlight Starbright for their amazing work with children's hospitals. To find out more about these charities you can visit www.broadwaycares.org and www.starlight.org. Whom You Know is pleased to present her as our Mover and Shaker!

Peachy Deegan interviewed Chrishell Stause for Whom You Know.

Peachy Deegan: How did you arrive at your first "big break" in acting?
Chrishell Stause: I lived in LA for a year working at Tony Roma's at night and auditioning during the day. When I booked All My Children I couldn't wait to tell them I wasn't coming back to work!

What do you miss most about Kentucky?
My family, and Cracker Barrel.

Have you been to the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky? Whom You Know loved it there.
No, but when I lived in KY I was in a Chevy - but it was a Cavalier.

What has been your favorite acting role thus far?
Well I would be crazy not to say Amanda Dillon. I've been playing her for over 4 years now, so she is almost like an alter-ego. Ha!

What roles would you like that you hope to secure in the future?
Comedy! I absolutely love doing comedy - I can't wait to do it in the future.

What is less than glamourous about being an actress, or is it all it's cracked up to be?
Well, I can say we don't all walk around completely made up all the time. On the show we wake up out of a coma with lip gloss on, but we arrive at work many times in sweats and bed head.

Do you prefer tv, film or stage and why?
All of the above. I love acting period.

As you were named "best dressed," what are your favorite looks/outfits?
I don't do well in drapey things. I always go for a fitted, structured waist because of my curves. Instead of keeping with all the trends I usually just go for what compliments my body.

What is your favorite place to be in NYC?
My neighborhood - I love the west village!

What is your favorite shop?
BCBG

What is your favorite drink?
I always switch but lately I have been drinking vodka and sugar free red bull.

What is your favorite restaurant?
Freemans

What is your favorite NYC book?
Zagat -Ha

What is your favorite thing to do in NYC that you can do nowhere else?
Going to see a Broadway show.

What do you think is most underrated and overrated here?
Underrated: private karaoke rooms! Overrated: Empire state building

What else should Whom You Know readers know about you?
I have a tattoo where I blindfolded myself and just picked one off the wall. My friend and I did it together and it makes me laugh to this day. I try not to take life too seriously.
